In general, I am not a big fan of autobiographies, but this one was fantastic. It reads like fiction. Mr. Alston's rise from his rural North Carolina roots to become a high-level executive in a company that clearly did not respect him as a black man was riveting. The discriminatory practices of his company, not only against Mr. Alston but also against other minorities and women, were infuriating.
