"The Power of Small," written by two advertising executives, used a lot of business anecdotes to convey the idea that little details can make or break you.

I found the part about niche marketing to be pretty inspiring because it talked about people who basically came up with a cool idea and made some money by starting small businesses doing the things they love (i.e. making greeting cards featuring Stella the dog or creating a line of decorations for Crocs).

The par More...

This is a simple book with a simple message - go the extra inch. I love that line. It reminds us that you don't have to do it all. That is often an overwhelming and paralyzing thought. Starting with one little step gets you moving in a forward and positive direction. Combine that with being nice - making small talk, extending kindness to those around you - and the residual effects can be astounding. Ever wonder what makes some people really likable and others not so much. It is probably t More...

The Power of Small reminded me a lot of John Miller's QBQ series. I haven't read the previous book, The Power of Nice, but I would imagine the message is much the same. All in all, Thaler and Koval are sending the message that just one small action in your life can have momentous or serendipitous consequences. By taking a moment to thank someone for a job interview, you could be setting yourself up to be chosen over a more qualified candidate. Or by escorting an old man to a room he's lookin More...

In their earlier book, The Power of Nice, the authors showed how simply being kind can transform a person's life, both business and personal. In The Power of Small, they emphasize the ways that a small extra step or attention to a seemingly minor detail can make a major impact. With plenty of stories to illustrate their points, this book is as entertaining as it is practical.

I'm a fairly detail-oriented person to begin with, so there were no major revelations to be had by reading this book, but "The Power of Small" is still worth noting--if only as a general reminder to (sometimes)sweat the small stuff--because often "little things" can "make or break you" in the worlds of business and relationships.

Interesting little tidbits about how the small things do make a BIG differece, but a tiny part of me thought this this was very clever way of marketing the Kaplan Group and thier company, otherwise I probably would of given it the 4 stars it probably deserved.

A very inspiring book about why one should not neglect "small" things. In fact you might come away from reading this book by thinking that, considering what can happen from "small things", nothing is a "small" thing. I look forward to reading their other book "The Power of Nice."

This little book by Thaler and Koval is full of stories of people who made little changes in their thinking, actions or contributions in life. Some of these change led to big financial success in business. I really enjoyed listening to this.

This was one of those spur of the moment, picked off the shelf books. Without saying, this book is about motivation. The book really brings home why others are getting ahead and why you are not. It is the small decisions that could make huge impacts in our lives.

Seemingly insignificant experiences that have changed people's lives in monumental ways. Each vignette is based on a do-able act of selflessness.

Gives important tips on picking up on the needs or wants of others before they ask. Docked it a star for being repetitive.

Some good nuggets. A bit rambling and disorganized, but a worthwhile read.

Meh. Too much name-dropping, nothing new, read the first bit and then skimmed.

This is a good reminder book for thinking about the details of life and how what might seem insignificant to you, might create a life changing moment for you or someone else. This would be an excellent 'gift book' to a new graduate to put them onto the right path of thinking about detail and how something small can make a BIG difference in the work place or personal life. Can't wait for book club to review it and see what everyone else thought!

This book changed me. Simply, it convinced me to pay attention to a level of detail in life I hadn't considered before, and provided some convinced anecdotes to support its assertions.

A short motivational book which reminds the reader there is power in paying attention and saying thank-you. Good things to remember in the totality of life, not just when conducting business. An easy and quick read.
