*** NOTE: This rating is for Lora Leigh's A CHRISTMAS KISS only! ***
I usually have a hard time with short stories but LL's story was a 5-star read to me, so this should be enough to tell you how much I loved it. :)
I don't have time to write a full review now, but I'll try to do it when I come back to read the other novellas in this anthology.

Angela Knight’s Vampire Ball was yet another installment in her Mageverse series, but it was a rather disappointing read. The series also started with a novella in an anthology, but Lance and Grace’s story at least had “body”, it was nicely written and well-paced.
Kat and Ridge’s story only seemed to be trudging along without much substance. It was simply too short and the characters bland. Not even the timely appearance of Lance could save it from doom.

Angela Knight's Mageverse can be confusing, but if you read this short story before any others...this one explains the Mageverse in the simplest, easiest way. In it, a young woman is introduced into the mageverse since she has the potential to become a magi. She is recruited and falls for her sponsor.Good story.

Four short--hot--Christmas themed stories. Many, if not all, of them were part of a series. Fortunately, I was familiar with two of the series, so knew what was going on in the background. The authors did attempt to run the "Crash Course Series Catchup," but, wow, a lot to absorb and figure out in a SHORT STORY.
Something that bugged me in all the stories were the inexplicable breaks in the printing while the writing continued on as if no break occurred. Weird.

The story by Angela Knight is part of her Mageverse series. I've never read any of them and probably won't. This story didn't do much for me, although I found the concept of the vampire's relationship to Merlin/King Arthur a new and imaginative twist. C+
The story by Allyson James is called "A Little Night Magic". Started out ok with an interesting story, but towards the end it seemed to get sappy, and one of the characters was a little too raunchy for my tastes. D+

Four good paranormal holiday stories:
- Vampire's Ball: apparently part of a series that takes place in the Mage-verse, sort of a parallel world with witches (Majae), werewolves and vampires. This world can be accessed from this world. They are recruiting from half-blooded children and one of them is Kat. To bring her into her powers, Ridge must mate with her. Sparks ensue.
- A Little Night Magic: Jamison walked out of Naomi's life two years ago but now he's back with a little ...more

Hot For The Holidays consists of four paranormal novellas that tell a brief story around the Christmas holiday.
The novellas are part of each author's series and if like me you are being introduced to the authors for the first time, I don't think you miss anything as some of the stories are not written at the beginning of the series. For example, A Christmas Kiss written by Lora Leigh is from her Breeds series. I have read another short story by Leigh before and like this one, I do...more

It's a known fact that you can't judge a book by it's cover. Well, I did just that when I chose this e-book from Library-to-Go. I did not get what I thought I was getting from the cover. SPOILER ALERT: There are NO men in any of the four stories in this book with candy canes in their pants. It's just false advertising.

There are four stories in this collection, all set in and around Christmas, all paranormal and all just a little bit hot in parts – in fact so hot that I have to confess I skimmed over the very detailed sex scenes:
Vampire’s Ball by Angela Knight

This book was a real disappointment. The lead in to this book which was so long ago was fantastic and made you think there was going to be a great story and then it is told in a 100 page short story where everything that could have been exciting between these two characters was quickly explained over. She was angry about him not seeing for over a year an then she got over it in one day. He supposely was courting her which I can't understand since he grew up in a lab where he was abuse his ent...more
The 1st story is a Angela Knight Mageverse. Lancelot send's Ridge after his daughter Kat to find out if she is a Maja. She must return with Ridge to Mageverse to find out. She is not happy about leaving her mother because she has tried to kill herself before. And Christmas is the worst time.
and now he's back. And she is pissed that he thinks he can just walk back into her and her daughters lives again. He says he can explain. But all she wants to say is "I got over you" but...more

Over all a pretty good anthology...Definitely one of the better holiday ones!
The Angela Knight story almost made me wish I was a fan of her mageverse series. It was a decent story, if a bit sparse. She has a good writing style, and this may be a decent intro in that series if you haven't tried it yet.

Shapeshifters, vampires, and fae, oh my. And they're each and every one smoking hot! "Hot for the Holidays" is a four-story anthology of paranormal stories, each incorporating a nod to the upcoming holiday season. Since I'm a fan of all four authors, what's not to love?

Great read. Multi-author anthology. I loved three out of the four stories.
VAMPIRE'S BALL by Angela Knight Good read; it is a Mageverse story and slots in after Master of Dragons and before Master of Fire. Very likable characters although 'caution' does not seem to appear in the heroine's dictionary. The complications with her Mom and biological father add depth to the story.

Anthology with four stories, all during Christmas. Four awesome writers and great stories. PNR and smut.
Angela Knight´s Vampires Ball, Kat learns that she´s the daughter of a vampire and a knight of the round table, and given the choice of joining the fight as a maja. Her guide is Ridge Champion.
Allyson James´ A little Night Magic, Naomi was left by Jamison two years ago and now he´s back with a story of shape shifters, abduction and that she´s in danger. Can she trust him again?

This is for the Lora Leigh entry, A Christmas Kiss.
I will cut down on my usual anthology issues...too short...not enough detail...leaves you wanting a full story...blah blah blah. There are a couple of authors that actually can pull off a story this short, and Lora Leigh is one of them.

I'll freely admit I bought this book at a yard sale for Leigh's Breed story alone and didn't much care how good, or bad, the other three stories might be. I was pleasantly surprised with Knight's contribution, as I have not read any of the books in the Mageverse series until this one. I enjoyed the prequel written by Allyson James, but the one by Bast was very hard for me to get into, and did not hold my attention very well thereafter.

This review is based solely on the Angela Knight story, Vampire's Ball, alone. I'm re-reading the entire Mageverse series and this was next on the list. It took about an hour to read and was a sore disappointment. I know as a short story the action needs to move along pretty quick, the plot needs to be to-the-point. However, another forced true-bond didn't seem nearly as feasible in this story as in some of the others of the Mageverse series. For one thing, the characters barely knew each other....more

I felt the stories in this anthology were pretty well rounded for novellas (short stories??). They were all about 80-ish pages long. The Christmas themes in the stories are somewhat limited and almost seemed like an afterthought in some cases, but then I'm not really reading it for the Christmas theme anyway ;). There is almost always at least one story in an anthology I don't like that much. Not so here...I enjoyed them all.

Vampire's Ball - Angela Knight - 4 Stars - I really enjoy Knight's spin on Avalon. It's one of my favorites. Kat and Ridge are really good characters, so are Lance and Grace. I look forward to learning more about the Mageverse.
A Little Night Magic - Allyson James - 3 Stars - Good story but kind of drawn out a bit longer than it needed to be.
Sweet Enchantment - Anya Bast - 1 1/2 Stars - OMG finally done! This story was equal parts too slow and too fast. Over detailed and ...more

These were all new-to-me-authors, except Lora Leigh. Two of them I liked enough to want to try again.
“Vampire’s Ball” by Angela Knight.
“My father is one of the Knights of the Round Table. And he’s a vampire.”
Really, what more needs to be said. 1 star.
“A Little Night Magic” by Allyson James.
A bit cruder than I enjoy and could have used more time on character development, but I liked the couple. Nummy hero. 2.5 stars.

An anthology of four short stories. Each of the stories has two things in common. First, they take place on or around Christmas. Second, there is more than a fair amount of sex in each story. My least favorite story was the story of the Breeds by Lora Leigh. I just can't get into the world or don't like the caveman mentality or something. I've read one of the whole Breed books and had the same reaction to the series then.

Buy it for the Anya Bast story, but stay for the rest. I love it when an author can get a complete story done in 100 pages or less, it just shows how talented they are. I usually end up reading only one or two of the stories in an anthology, but these are all worth the price of admission. I am a huge fan of Anya Bast's writing, so of course Sweet Enchantments is a modern twist on a fairy tale and was my favorite of the bunch.

Sweet Enchantment (Dark Magick 0.5) by Anya Bast 2.5*
I hope it's a fact related to this being a short story and thus it had to be concentrated: if you don't consider names, references and some use of magic powers, the characters have nothing really marking them as Fae. More so if you look at the way they speak, act and what they wear...
A bit too repetitive sex aside, the plot per se wasn't bad, but not so original, and as already said, lacked real magical/faery atmosphere.

I just wanted to say that I am highly pleased with the satisfaction that this novel has given me. I used top work long hard hours in a DENTAC unit in the army leaving me with many lonely nights. This book awoke many sexual prownesses that I never knew I had inside of me. Co-workers do not understand me, and the way I i feel on the inside. I get a lisp just thinking about this novel. Last night I read my favorite chapter and I could feel my back perspire from the intense sexual passion i have yet...more
I got this book to read the Breed story about Hawke and Jessica. It was very sweet. Probably one of the most tender love stories she's written. Good change.

I read Sweet Enchantment because I plan to read Dark Magick series by same author and hear this novella is the prequel.

Vampire’s Ball by Angela Knight: 4 stars. This is number 9 in the Mageverse series. I have not read any of the series, but the author did a fantastic job of not confusing me. I figured this would a difficult story for me to get into. There are so few pages in the story, so many books into this series; I expected to be very confused. This was not the case. The author did not fill in the blanks through a ton of rehashing either, she explained the Mageverse world just enough for the story to flow. ...more

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared.
