Alright, so this past Spring Break went to Lexington, Kentucky and visited the home where Mary Todd Lincoln grew up. In the gift shop they had several copies of various biographies of MTL, I asked the man working the store which he would recommend and this is the one he gave me. Did he hate me at first sight or was he getting a commission from each of these that he could unload?

Never, never read this book as your first biography of Mrs. Lincoln. Katherine Helm is Mrs. Lincoln's niece, and she presents family stories from the definitely biased viewpoint of a family member. These stories, however, are priceless because when you start reading a lot about Mrs. Lincoln, you need to be able to discern what is fact and what is fable. Very biased. I didn't finish reading the novel, it didn't really keep my interest.
