This is the only book I've read through cover to cover more than twice. It is the only book I read every day. There isn't enough room to tell what I've learned from it.

Yes, I know, I'm surely going to hell for giving the Bible only 4 stars. But some of it is really hard to get through.
And, this is the one I was presented with when I was confirmed Catholic.

It took me about a year but this was by far the best book I have read and will ever read it has every kind of story in it you could look for, true stories, figurative stories fantacies very very good. I recomend all to read at least LEAST once in there life time there is a reason it is called the best story ever told.
I learned about my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Also, the source of life, the result of the fall, the redemptive love of God, how to live, how to love, how to die, what happens afterward, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.
OK, I know it may seem trite to put the Bible in among the books I'm currently reading, but there have been some significant changes in my life that compelled me to add it. First I lost my dad on 9/4/09, and love, prayer, and the Bible are what held me together during that time. Also, as I've been talking with my therapist in the past couple months, I've had a tremendous breakthrough with my depression, anxiety, agoraphobia...you name it...and it's all because I've been speaking aloud and rebuki...more
I can really say that it's the only "must read" out there. If you don't have one, get one!
One of the issues in purchasing a bible that you plan to both carry with you and read for substantial stretches is finding one that is compact without being illegible due to tiny print size. Correctly selected typefaces are the best remedy for this problem, and this edition gets it right.

Seriously, the Bible is my favorite book. It's got a little of everything in it that I love (history, science, mystery, Mystery, love, romance, explosions and fire, wisdom, prophecy, darkness, poetry, unanswered questions, self-help, tragedy, beauty...)

The first time I read the Bible I read it in Spanish, in one year; this time around, from all the different English translations I chose the NASB, but it's taken me almost two years to complete the task. The NASB may not have the beautiful, poetic language of other translations, but it is clear, and as far as I know one of the most accurate translations ever made.

I have learned everything I need to know to live a good life and be a person who loves my neighbor as myself (or even more than myself)

I have had this Bible for several years. I think I started using around 1999. My goal is to read it every day, but sometimes i miss it. I love reading and re-reading it. I especially love studying it.
I like this version because the study hints, charts to fill in, graphs, maps, illustrations, timelines and historical information in the back all help me to better understand the text. There is even an essay on understanding Greek (and I think a Hebrew on too), but that's a bit beyond ...more

Out of all the books I have read, I cannot believe I did not list the book that change my life the most! The Bible will be read over and over through out my life time on this side of Heaven. It's a daily guide for living.

A generally solid study Bible. Often puts various interpretations on the table without arguing for one in particular.
This is, hands down, the best book ever written. It encompasses all the academic disciplines. It is full of the history of individuals and of nations in times of war and of peace. The people's histories tell of their enemies and of their lovers. Intertwined throughout it all is a love story more powerful than any man can imagine. If you are looking for love, then i highly recommend anyone to pick up at lest one copy of a Bible,this may mean finding the one you alrady own.. Insted of it being behind you, put it in front of you and let it lead the way... I have read through the Bible and i continue to read it's messages.. Each day it's something diffrent... A great read for all... You may also see and understand how people reatled this one another in leadership, war, peace, power, and wealth...
An excellent resource. The translation is great, but this particular Bible gives each verse it's own line, so every page looks like a poem from Psalms or Proverbs. At first, this was rather nice, but at times I find it is hard to follow the flow of what exactly is happening as I would when reading a Bible that is in paragraphs. The study notes and cross references are extremely helpful, but the extra articles in it are not as thorough as some newer Study Bibles.
I have chosen to use the NASB (updated) translation and this is the Bible that I primarily use. It's the only paragraph formatted NASB (updated) edition that I could find. There are host of things that I would love to change about this Bible. However, that would probably require a custom formatted Bible. The things that I dislike are common to all Bibles.
With this in consideration, this Bible remains my favorite for reading and personal study.

Written in plain English making it easy to understand. Accurately translated using the following general guidelines:
1> true to the original languages
2> grammatically correct
3> understandable
4> the Lord Jesus Christ is given His proper place.
All in all it is excellently and reverently translated and eliminates most of the inaccuracies of the King James Version (obsolete language, Calvinistic ideology, etc.).

If I can only read one Book every day, it will be This. If I can only have one Book for the rest of my life, it would be This. All the answers that anyone needs to know God and to live a life pleasing to Him and to be filled with a peace that passes understanding are in this Book. Get yourself a good, literal translation (ESV, NASB, KJV, NKJV) and start searching with all your heart.
