A powerful and engrossing biography of an important architect who is far too little-known outside of Portland, Oregon. His architecture embodied the bold, neoclassical, approach to commercial buildings popular in the early 20th century and in his case, his take on this iconic style came to define Portland's downtown. From 1912 to 1927, more than any other architect during this period, Albert Ernest Doyle defined the skyline of Portland, Oregon. His works include the Benson Hotel, Civic Stadium, the Meier & Frank Building, the Central Library, the campus of Reed College, and many, many others.
