In 1992, Christopher Morgan joined a prison penfriend scheme. He was allocated Tom Shannon, a murderer, serving a life sentence. Through the exchange of their letters, which were never intended for publication, two very different men became friends. This book tells the story of their friendship.
This book effectively describes everyday living conditions in British prisons. It is both sad and illuminating but compelling reading which I could not put down. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to gain an understanding of what serving a life sentence is really like.
