As someone who has corresponded with inmates, this is a great book full of humanity and insight.

This book effectively describes everyday living conditions in British prisons. It is both sad and illuminating but compelling reading which I could not put down. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to gain an understanding of what serving a life sentence is really like.
