I almost put off reading this book because I have just read 2 others in a series by her and they were good, but started to feel very similar. This book was very different from there other seven or so I have ready by Dane. I loved it! It's going on the favorites shelf.
I loved that it wasn't totally predictable and there were a few twists and turns that made it a "page turner" for me. I cant wait to continue the story in Believe. I am just sad that it is a short story.

Can I just say how awesome Lauren Dane is! Nobody does sexy erotica with such an awesome story line like her.
Second Chances had it all. Hearbreak, love, steamy erotica (OMG HOT!!), relationships problems, cheating, marriage, more love (so much love!!), jealousy oh and such sadness, OMG the tears that I cried. All of this wrapped up in one package that I couldn't put down.
The only reason I am not giving perfect stars is I wish the ending played out a bit longer. It seeme More...

Rori Simon is back in Oakley. When she left town, she was over weight and painfully shy. But six years away from her criticizing mother and deep fried food has made a tremendous difference in Rori's personality and looks. She's back, and a best selling author who is very comfortable in her own skin. Granted she's partially back because of a dirtbag cheating boyfriend left in Paris. but nonetheless, she's back.
When she returns, she is quickly reacquainted with Jude Callahan, town bad bo More...

I enjoyed this but I wasn't wowed by it. I was never really able to connect with Zach or become invested in Rori's relationship with him. Still, I liked the story well enough and the love scenes are very hot.
<spoiler>I knew going in that there was a sequel in which Rori was in a relationship with Jude, so I think I never allowed myself to become emotionally invested in Zach. He was obviously a goner in some way from the minute he walked into Mary's and met up with Becky and R More...

Lauren Dane’s book Second Chances is about discovering what’s really important by being fully honest with yourself. This was an emotional book that explores acceptance, love, tragedy, and reconciliation. Ms. Dane packs a lot into this book, it has many facets and they coalesce into tragedy and eventually triumph.
Rori Simon was once a young girl with no self-esteem but grows up to become a confident woman returning to her home town with her eye on the one man she’s always wanted, Jud More...

My thoughts: I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. I really liked it at first, but somewhere in the middle... it just didn't do it for me.
The book starts off well - we're introduced to Rori as she arrives back home after a very long time away. I found Rori to be immediately likeable, and her relationship with her sister and sister's family at their reunion was very believable. I think one thing that helped me like Rori is the way that she used to be a very awkward teenager, More...

This review is A Flash of Fiction feature:
I Liked -- Plot: This was actually the first Lauren Dane book that I had ever read. But, I've already become hooked, and have been scouring for her backlist. Because of the name of the book, I knew that, despite Rori finding happiness elsewhere, she would eventually return to Jude. The overall plot was great, but what I loved about Dane's writing is the amount of emotion that she is able to infuse into her words. The gamut of human interac More...

Rori Simon returns to her home town after her Parisian romance falls apart, but she is coming back smarter, stronger and sexier than when she left for college. And it isn't long before the single men in town, who once relegated her to funny, sister-like status, to notice her charms and confidence--including the alpha bad-boy, Jude, who Rori once believed was far beyond her reach. But when Rori sets her cap for Jude, she has to play his game, meaning she can get close, but not too close and she c

Lauren Dane has written yet another book that brings the readers not just the highs of love, but the lows, and makes you want to read MORE. Rori's personal growth from shy and awkward teen to sexy and confident felt believable in light of what she had accomplished while away, and the immediate attraction between her and Rori, and later Zach, felt steamy and natural. I loved that she was confident in who she was, what she wanted professionally, personally, and sexually, and that she demanded her

Whats it About: 10 years ago Rori left town, her self esteem in shambles. She had something to prove, not only to the town she was leaving, but to herself as well. Now that she’s back, shy pudgey Rori is a thing of the past. Of course its now that all the guys she wanted her to notice her back then notice her. The most notable one being, Jude, an insanely sexy bad boy who was her childhood crush for as long as Rori can remember.

Lauren Dane gives a hot, yet powerful story with a sassy heroine. Rori escaped her same time small town right after high school where she was shy, fat and had acne. Many of us can relate. She comes back to her hometown a new woman, one who can love herself. I think that is one of the reason l enjoyed this one so much. I liked how Rori might have got a very sexy outside but it was just as important to her that she was sexy on the inside. She got pretty, not bitchy.

I am a huge Lauren Dane fangirl and I was really excited when this book showed up on NetGalley. I immediately downloaded it to my Kindle and started reading. This is a fantastic erotic romance. The couples in the story are into D/s and Ms. Dane knows how to write that type of relationship well without going overboard. SECOND CHANCES is a very hot book, and has a lot of heart as well as heat.

Delightful love story centered on a woman who has discovered herself, thrown off the oppression of her mother's criticism, become a published, acclaimed author, and has now returned to her hometown to re-establish her connections with her roots and her family. She is no longer the "ugly duckling" of her family. She is now slim, sexy, and confident, and she immediately attracts the attentions of several guys, one of whom starred in her adolescent dreams and her adult fantasies. But h

If Goodreads ratings allowed for it than I would give this one a solid 4.75 stars.
Rori may be a great deal more in many ways than what she is used to being, but the one thing that hasn't changed is the person she is on the inside. Sure she's shed the layers of the homely girl that most remember, which resulted in a new found confidence and self esteem she didn't have before, but she's determined to show people that she has not let it all go to her head. She just wants to have a good More...

As always I'm highly impressed how much emotion Ms Dane puts in her novels. Before I have to admit I started this novel because it has Ms. Dane's name on it and I didn't even read the blurb before starting it. I have to say it's awesome to start a book this way. I started it without any expectations or thoughts about what might or might not happen. Yes I expected it to be a book full of family and love. and with the right amount of smut and that's exactly what I got.

Well, Mbak Rie_dominique pernah bilang aku nggak boleh baca buku BDSM (karena itulah Fifty Shades of Grey kulewatin terus) dan kemudian aku liat buku ini di rak tanteku yang baru pindah dari St. Paul, dan guess what?, ternyata buku ini ada BDSM-nya.
Huwaaaa, sori, Mbak Rie, ternyata aku kecolongan baca T^T
Yah, eniwei, despite of its BDSM lines, bukunya lumayan menyentuh, meskipun ketika aku baca sampai selesai, tanggapanku, eh, cuma begini doang toh. Kukira gimana. Romans More...

This book is pretty complex. In fact it's like 4 or 5 plots in 1. I'm still trying to comprehend what happened here and whether I liked it or not. I think I've decided that the complexity was nice, sort of similar to life. We really get to see Rori transition in this book.
I didn't really like the end to the one relationship. Something like that is difficult to write especially when trying to express how a character copes to move on. It felt like it happened too quickly and I really fel More...

I awarded "Second Chances" 4.5 gold nuggets on my website review (www.kristalleeromances.com), but GoodReads doesn't allow the 1/2 star ratings.
When Rori Simon returns to her hometown she’s not the shy, frumpy girl that all the boys overlooked in school. She’s a smart, sassy, sexy woman whose put the pain of her childhood behind her and moved on with her life. For the most part, that is. When Rori Simon left home ten years ago, she was overweight, had acne, wore glasses and bore the weight of the censure of her mother and her own self-doubt. Now she’s back, confident and sexy and while more than one man has taken notice, it’s just one that she’s interested in: Jude Callahan, her high school crush. The problem is, Jude’s a player who doesn’t want to commit to one woman and when Rori tries to turn the tables on him and make him chase her, she gets burned.

Second Chance by Lauren Dane is a sizzling hot story. The whole time I was reading it. I couldn't believe that my screen wasn't steaming up.However, there's a lot more than amazingly hot sex to this story. There's the BDSM aspects, well researched and lovingly detailed. (which is not always the case) plentiful drama. (It had me in tears at one point) and is full of small moments of humour. I enjoyed this ebook, and will be seeking more titles from this author. DNF! BDSM with more than one hero is just not my personal cuppa! I can't make myself interested ... no matter how popular it is. Oh well ... good reader though ... :/
UPDATED TO ADD: I'm removing my initial star review and trying this again since I didn't have enough information and wasn't in the right mind set when I took it up the first time. We'll see ...?!

This was an excellent erotic romance story, again very well written by Ms. Dane. She always manages to create characters that you get attached to and seem very real, while weaving an intricate and very emotional web that is their lives.
And this book was definetely no exception. It is emotionally charged, had me in tears, it's also got some funny parts. It describes the day to day lives of the characters involved perfectly.
Let me start with the heroine. I really liked More...
