This story takes place in the New Mexico territory during the Civil War. It's told through a diary of the youngest of two boys whose father works for a stage coach company in a small town in the southern part of the territory. The boy's grammar slowly improves in his diary as his older brother instructs him in spelling and structure.
The older boy ends up fighting for the South (he was born and raised in South Carolina and Mississippi). The father and younger son hold with the Union.
It's a beaut

Another great book by Johnny D. Boggs. This one really captures the meaning of Brother Against Brother in regards to the American Civil War. A lot of great plot twists and memorable characters makes this one of his best books yet!
