No one is smart enough to solve the mystery until some lucky psychic visions at the end. The relationship didn’t draw me in.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
This is primarily a mystery. There is a developing relationship, but it’s not romantic. She has her visions and is tired most of the time. He is emotionally distant. All of a sudden they have sex. There was no personality, chemistry, interesting interaction or romance. I wasn’t emotionally drawn in.

The mystery was not More...

Unfortunately, even small towns can bear the same sins as the big city when women are turning up murdered in Cassie's new home. The book is about a girl that is psychic, and she can read minds. She uses her ability to help the police locate where killers are, and who they might kill next. It's a good book because it is really scary, and it keeps you wanting to read more, and more. It doesn't ever really drag on, or get boring like a lot of books do. It shows the different perspectives of the killers, and the victims, which I thought was pretty interesting. When the murders were described it was really detailed, and it ma More...

Love this!! It is a mix between the X-Files and Medium (although I don't actually watch the latter). In either case the main character is a serious psychic who used to work with detectives in solving crimes and finding missing persons until she got to close and it almost destroyed her!! Now she is living far away from where she thought she would encounter more of those types of criminals but soon realizes there is no escape!! Da da daaaah!! Well anyhow it is a really cool story and the int More...

the book is about Cassie a psychic who has helped the police with her ability till an error led to the death of a child and she left town.

However she can't get away from her ability and soon finds herself involved in a murder case after finding herself in the mind of a murderer More...

A good premise and a fun book to read. A psychic who can actually enter the minds of criminals and help the police solve crimes. Reminiscent of "The Medium" tv show which I loved. This book and Cassie's story as a psychic actually set the stage for FBI agent Bishop's series by Hooper. He's so briefly seen that I didn't realize it until I finished the book. He too must have some psychic abilites so I'll try out the next book to see where the author is going with him. I enjoyed thi

A psychic helping the police solve a serial murder mystery makes a small mistake. The police arrive too late to save the latest victim. The psychic leaves the west coast and moves to the east to try to find peace and forgiveness. The small town where she settles becomes the site of another serial killer. She goes to the police to offer her assistance. In the end, her escape from the west coast plays a role in the new murders.

I have enjoyed every one of the Special Crimes Unit series. The characters have become friends (Not something I do often.). I root for them, sympathize with them and wish I were part of a paranormal unit.

The paranormal parts of the stories are not over-the-top - rather, they are treated as part of the capabilities and personalities of the characters. I love that and love the way Kay Hooper manages to create a world where the unusual is normal.

For me, these books have More...

Wow. Scary thriller with paranormal twists. I see that there are quite a few books in this series, done in trilogies, I hope the rest of the books are a good as this one. Really well done--Good read. The main thread in the series seems to be the FBI agent, Bishop, who also has paranormal abilities. The love interest between main characters Cassie and Judge Ben Ryan was well done and the other side romance between the sheriff Matt and the victim of domestic abuse, Abby was another interesting More...

This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I really enjoyed it. It is about a psychic who tries to help the police solve crimes by connecting to the minds of the killers. It was really well written and I enjoyed the quick pace and reading about the main character Cassie, the psychic.

I'd certainly read another of her books, my only problem now is deciding whether to add her remaining books to my TBR (to be read) pile.

I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys More...

almost a readable book. so close. flat characters, over-used plot. woman feels (finger wiggle, whooo) a murderer, is drained by the whole thing, man gets over-protective, she gets so close to being killed/taken, the man catches/kills murdering fiend ("how dare you touch my woman!") they live happily ever after. right. puh-lease

Absolutely amazing and suspenseful. It was a great introduction to the world of stealing shadows. I understand that the trilogy is based around one of the agents but I loved the psychic, Cassie, so much. I wish that we could've delved a little more deeper into her character and past.

Since I'm not 13 anymore I don't just love stories where the strong, masculine, virulent yet compassionate and emotionally-available but unattached male rescues the small, fragile, pitiful, tender, waif-like, frightened and emotionally-hesitant female.

First of the long running series. And it sure was an eye-opener--the start of a (now overworked cliche)--serial killers with some psychic abilities dueling with FBI guys also with psychic abilities. And a nice romance thrown in for good measure.

I can't say enough good things about Kay Hooper. I really enjoy her writing style. Again the paranormal and a little romance thrown in. But, not too much. People die and there's a confusing mystery to solve. Good, good stuff.

Stealing Shadows was my first sampling of Kay Hooper's work. It's also the first in her ongoing Special Crimes Unit series comprised of trilogies featuring Noah Bishop.
