Not only a wonderful resource for the botanical artist, also a book full of beautiful illustrations that will take your breath away.
In terms of instruction it is a good solid coverage of the basic skills and gives guidance on practice and studies. Not for the complete beginner unless they are dedicated and good at learning solo.
A good intro to botanical illustration in watercolor with a focus on accurate, detailed, luminescent painting.

Useful as a textbook for artists enrolled in a nature illustration art studio course or for artists with some experience in realistic illustration. Although the book reviews drawing techniques, it presumes you already know how to accurately draw and foreshorten complex forms from observation. Prior watercolor experience not required and not assumed. Reasonable coverage of color mixing u

The authors specify that this book is based on a one-year diploma course, and as such the reader shouldn't expect to master the process in a matter of days. This is a great book about illustration of of the botanical world. It takes an almost medical-esque and anatomy style of sketching and tips on not just colors with pencils but also with watercolours

Recommends it for: anyone ready to move to the next step in their art
It is beautiful and delightful~everything I thought it would be. However, I think I'll stick with pencil drawing a bit longer. I need my drawing to be better quality before I try to make them realistic.

An amazing book. Could *easily* be the basis of a year-long high school art course. Nicely laid out, very detailed, gorgeous illustrations.
A beautifully composed volume, a real course at the Eden Project. Condensed, practical, exacting.
This book was okay. Content poor and i didn't find it inspiring although the artwork is lovely.
