Let's face it, the werewolf stories are the best books in Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. Yes, I enjoyed the rest of the installments, but there is something extremely appealing about the physical world of weres. It's just so much more fun to read about hand-to-hand fights, cracked bones, and torn-out throats. How can spell-casting, raising the dead, and (give me a break!) sensing chaos possibly compete with that?

In this novel Elena and Clay travel to Alaska to ha...more

Frostbitten is a nice addition to the Women of the Otherworld series after two not so great books.

In it Elena cements her feelings for Clay by admitting that she missed him whilst he was away, she confronts her past fears head on, and learns that she is strong enough if not quite ready to become Alpha. Clay is as wonderful as ever both protecting Elena and giving her the freedom of her independence. The rest of the pack also make an appearance if only towards the end. We meet two fo...more

Great introduction to urban fantasy

This is the first of Kelley Armstrong's books that I have read. Obviously, that means that it is my first from the Otherworld series too.

Frostbitten was recommended to me by friends, despite being in a different genre to anything that I have read in my past. I really didn't think that I would enjoy it too much, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I would therefore thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has not tried this genre befor...more

Yes!!!!! After a few duds, Armstrong has once again hit one out of the park by returning to her roots, characters Elena Michaels and Clayton Danvers. Thank vati! While Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series was not my first introduction to her writing, books 1 Bitten and 2Stolen were certainly my favorite books written by her, I think, maybe, I don’t know. Anyway, my love was no doubt due to the fabby and oh so enticing couple of Elena and Clayton. I had originally thought that anything writ...more

Frostbitten - Best of Clay and Elena so far - Great addition to Armstong's series

When the mutt Elena is chasing flees to Alaska, Pack enforcers werewolf Elena and her mate Clay are they are asked to do double duty and also check into some wolf mauling deaths in the frozen North - they suspect rogue 'weres' are behind the killings. As their search expands to include the mysterious disappearance of an old friend living the area, the pair is going to discover that that much is hid...more

I love Kelley Armstrong. She is one of my all-time favourite Urban Fantasy authors and her ‘Women of the Otherworld’ series is one of the very best in the genre. ‘Frostbitten’ is the 10th novel in the series and is narrated by fan-favourite, Elena Michaels. I admit, as much as I love the other series characters and their respective narratives, Elena’s story remains my personal favourite – and I think ‘Frostbitten’ has become my favourite book in the series.

Armstrong has seamlessly inte...more

leventh book in the Otherworld series; tenth book on the women. The focus of this story is back on werewolves Elena and Clay.

Elena is chasing a mutt (werewolf not in the pack) across the country trying to save his life while he runs from her believing he'll be killed. The chase takes her to Alaska where a friend of Jeremy's appears to be missing, some men have been killed by wolves and three women have disappeared.

Clay struggles with a new generation of werewolves who no long...more

Elena and Clay are front and center in this tenth installment in the Women of the Otherworld series.

Elena's more front and center than she had realized when Jeremy tells her of his decision. A step with which Elena is very uncomfortable. Then a letter comes out of her past and it's too much with which to cope so Elena takes refuge in her Pack job---chasing mutts. The lead-in finds Elena chasing one mutt simply so she can warn him but her and Clay's reputations find him skittering off a...more

Kelley Armstrong doesn't disappoint. I was a little hesitant to read this book. It had been such a long time since we'd been given an Elena perspective book... Currently, my heart belonged to Hope and Karl Marsten. But this book was worth the wait.

Elena and Clay end up in Alaska following one particular mutt and end up in the middle of something bigger than they could have imagined. Known mutts have disappeared, strange stories and legends abound, and most importantly, a town stirred o...more

I have to admit that I was less than enthused over the last WOTU book. It was "ok", but that was about it & I sort of wondered if the next book would be an improvement. `Living With the Dead' was interesting, but just felt pale in comparison to the earlier stronger works in the series. Thankfully, `Frostbitten' was a much more enjoyable read.

`Frostbitten' shows a return of Elena as narrator, which is always a good thing- mostly because Elena is easily the most compelling of...more

Having learned the backstory of Elena and Clay, I find their relationship much more interesting now, rather than at the start of the Otherworld series when Elena seemed like a bitch (ha ha ha pun) and Clay a domineering doof. I REALLY enjoyed the characterization of the twins in this book and hope to read more of them later. Still find the sex scenes overly long, descriptive, and frequent, much to my regret. We get it, and we get it, they're hot for each other, all the time. Do we have to ALWAYS...more

I love Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series. The novels in the series usually are first person told by a female supernatural--but different ones generally in each book: witch, half-demon, necromancer, angel--and in this case, as in the first two books, Bitten and Stolen as well as Broken, it's Elena Michaels, the one and only female werewolf.

I read and imprinted not on Bitten though, but the third book, Dime Store Magic, with Paige and Lucas. When I got to the first book, Bitt...more

Okay, okay, I was going to write a nice balanced review and all that, but let me start with my complaint.

What is it with bloody scent?

I get that Elena being the only female werewolf means that all the other male werewolves are gunning for her, either because of her or to get to Clay. If her smell, however, is an equalivent of an in heat signal that opens a host of questions. If Elena is "in heat" in wolf form than wouldn't that turn on Clay? Wouldn't it ...more

‘Frostbitten’ is the tenth book in the ‘Women of the Otherworld’ series and we are back with Elena, Clay and the rest of the Pack. Elena is one of my favourite characters in the series and ‘Frostbitten’ is the best yet of the Pack books.

At the beginning of the book Elena is looking for a werewolf named Reese, new to the country without a pack, he finds himself in a situation he cannot get out of, Elena and Clay step in, which leads to them Anchorage where Elena and Clay face somethin...more

Elena is still the only female werewolf, but years have past and she's become other things too: a wife, a mother, and the next Alpha of the Pack. In this latest book of Armstrong's "Women of the Underworld" series (book 10, I believe), Elena and her husband Clay travel to Anchorage, Alaska, to track down a young new werewolf. But there's far more trouble in Alaska than just Reese: women keep disappearing, and an old werewolf friend of Clay's turns up tortured to death. Elena and Cl...more

I love this series and Elena and Clay are by far my favorites. This book was jam packed with lots of action, seeing all of the pack memebers, learning about the others in the world, and the pack changing.

With this book you can tell both Elena and Clay have grown up and accepted who they are and their lives, both what happened in the past and how their lives were now. Choices made in the past have lead them to the strong positions they are in, but as they have grown up so has the wo...more

You CAN go home again!

While Kelley Armstrong has never traveled too far afield from the werewolf clan that started the Women of the Otherworld series in Bittenthere have been many characters and storylines added since then. But, coming back to Elena and Clay was like a GOOD trip back to the place you called home. You can see how they've grown and changed over the years, but some part of them is still the same couple that I remember. And, even beyond the relationship aspect of the b...more

Within this series, whenever we get to a book set around the wolf pack it feels like coming home, and this instalment was made a doubly sweet homecoming by it being such a good instalment (my favourite so far, actually).

Tracking down some man-eating mutts Elena and Clay find themselves in Alaska, which turns out to be home to more than just werewolves. On top of all this, Elena is struggling to come to terms with and live up to Jeremy’s plan to name her as Alpha when he steps down.

My beloved Clay and Elena are back and they're doing what they do best... tracking mutts. The story begins with Elena trying to catch up with a young Aussie wolf named Reese, who is being set up to take the fall for some man-eaters. (Armstrong set up a backstory for Reese in the short story "Chivalrous," but you don't have to read it to know what's going on.) She follows him to Alaska, where he is promptly attacked by mutts living there. Elena patches him up and faces the task of findi...more

Without a doubt the werewolf books in Kelley Armstrong's 'Women of the Otherworld' series are the best. If I were able to get a chance to talk to the other herself I would ask whether she enjoyed them writing them more, as it certainly comes across that way in the narrative.

For those of you that have not read any of the previous books in the series I would recommend you read them first, I have listed them in order at the bottom of this review for your reference.

The books fol...more

There's a nit that's bugging me. I know Elena lives in the U.S. now, but when she was telling the editor at the Anchorage paper that she worked for Canadian Press why didn't she describe the missing women as First Nations? Why did she call them Native Canadians? It's a difference in how Americans and Canadians think of the world, and I wish Armstrong, a Canadian, had told/ explained it to her American readership.

Elena and Clay come to Alaska chasing a mutt, Reese, a werewolf who’s no...more

I started reading the Women of the Otherworld series years ago and I finally got around to picking it up again, starting with Stolen, which I figured out I had already read also. Even though I’m not a re-reader, I enjoyed Stolen just as much the second time around. Once I started again, in two weeks time, I plowed through the rest of this series until I reached Frostbitten. Frostbitten is, in my humble opinion, the best book of this series to-date for me.

Frostbitten starts out with Ele...more

It is no secret that I absolutely love Kelley Armstong's Women of the Otherworld series and Frostbitten reinforces that love completely. Elena Michaels is the female werewolf who started the whole series and it is so nice to return to her as the central character. Taking Clay and Elena away from the Pack and their children was a great way to keep the focus on how they interact as a couple. I found out a lot more about Elena's past in this book and that gave great insight into her motives, met...more

In FROSTBITTEN, Armstrong has returned to the first characters in her WOMEN OF THE OTHERWORLD series--Elena and Clay Danvers--and transported them to an inhospitable, unforgiving climate to deal with vicious werewolf mutts and a completely new type of shifter. FROSTBITTEN uses all the traditional lore, and some of the character relations, we know from Armstrong's earlier books, but also introduces creatures based on Inuit legend.

As if rogue werewolves and territorial shifters weren't...more

Wow! Frostbitten, the 10th novel in the Women of the Otherworld series gets my vote for best novel of the series so far! Frostbitten is told from Elena’s point of view, taking us back to our original (and my personal favourite) narrator. The story is set predominantly in Alaska, and features Elena and Clay almost exclusively. We do get to touch base with some of our other much-loved Werewolves, and we also get to meet some fantastic new characters that I hope we’ll be seeing more of in future ...more

Recommends it for: Kelley Armstrong fans, paranormal romance fans and fans of werewolves/other magical races
Smart, scary, funny and incredibly emotional, this is yet another amazing book by Kelley Armstrong. In this installment we see the supernatural world expanding to include other species and unknown magic, such as the Shifters (werewolf type creatures), a werewolf who decided to take a 'gap year/ experiment' type holiday in wolf form rather than go backpacking and creepy lights that like to lead unwitting people into ice rivers.

Elena made for a wonderful narrator yet again, and it was...more

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.

Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolv...more
