After reading the Shadows trilogy and really enjoying reading about Noah Bishop I decided to start the Evil trilogy and so continue with the Bishop / BAU series.

In Touching Evil there's a rapist on the loose that is targeting women and besides raping and beating them he blinds them so they can't identify him. Maggie Barnes is the artist who has been working with the women to try to come up with a face that the police can identify. The truth is that Maggie is an empath, she feel More...

Hooper lived up to her regular reputation of providing a good mystery/suspense/thriller!!

From back cover:

"Seattle police sketch artist Maggie Barnes has an extraordinary gift. She listens as traumatized crime victims describe their ordeals-and then uses those horrifying recollections to draw dead-on sketches of the assailants. Some cops think Maggie is telepathic, that she can actually enter the victims' minds. Only Maggie knows the truth behind her rare talent...and More...

Kay Hooper delivers again! I love the Bishop books and this one is no exception. Maggie has a gift, one she has tried to explain away as intuition, but when she meets John and his friends with Bishops unique unit in the FBI, she has to admit things she's kept a secret for her entire life.
Drawn into the case of kidnapped, mutilated and murdered women, Maggie uses her 'intuition' to try to sketch the killer, but there is a major stumbling block...all the women that survived the attack, had t More...

Synopsis: This is the story of Seattle police artist Maggie Barnes, whose remarkable artistic talents are the focus of an even more extraordinary psychic gift that she is determined to keep secret: a gift that has allowed her to work with crime victims, to feel what they feel, to create perfect portraits of their attackers. When the police are stymied by an elusive predator who blinds his victims to prevent them from identifying him, Maggie must be willing to risk much more than just her secret More...

This is a really great thriller book, I've read it several times now and enjoy it every time. Maggie is a police sketch artist with a special talent, and when women start being viciously attacked, raped and blinded, she feels it's her duty to stop the evil that's doing it...even if she has to sacrifice herself. The characters are very well written, and you really feel like you get to know them and their motivations for doing what they do throughout the book.

The story kicks off right More...

I thought this book was really intense and it made me want to keep reading. The author was really good at making it seem really creepy. It was a fast read, and it was pretty twisted! However it seemed to me that the gist of the action and suspense was mostly in the middle of the book. I was expecting a more defined, and crazy ending. So it was kind of disappointing, but it was still a good book. It had a little bit of romance, suspense, and of course mystery. It was an overall good book.

this was a book i read on the treadmill and stationary bike before bringing it upstairs to finish. it is a creepy story with a bunch of people, regular police, fbi and empaths, etc. trying to find the sick killer who likes to not only blind the woman victims, but in at least one case, remove them. this creep is no match for the talented group who combine resources to track him down. hey, when was the last time that a book ended with evil conquering good?

This book was very well writte, very detailed and I loved the story line. The book was a little confusing in the beginning, but it quickly became fairly easy to understand and follow. The end provided a strange twist to make the story line even better. It was by far an excellent book and one I would highly recommend to anybody who enjoys reading about the paranormal, evil, murder, and above all, about pshycics.

I just finished reading this little book, which revolves around an empath sketch artist who helps the Seattle police to track down rapists/murders, specifically one madman who abducts and blinds his victims and leaves them struggling for survival.
This was a quick and easy read, that I found fairly engaging; A rather heavy hand with the paranormal, but still entertaining.

This mystery series has a fascinating premise: a very sensitive healing empath unites with several seers to stop a series of brutal rape-torture crimes. The plot and characterization are ok and not too predictable. The gory detail requires a strong stomach and nerve from readers, with a bit of sensual detail that may offend the sensitive.

This is the first book I have read by Kay Hooper. Initially i was really into it but I feel the book focused more on the investigators and their pseudo relationship. The ending cam rather suddenly, like it was hurried up and there wasn't (in my opinion), that heart climactic ending I so look forward to. All in all, the book was okay.

Terrifying. Kay Hooper is one of the scariest author's I've ever read. This book kept me up all night reading in our hotel room in Italy, and the only thing that put me to sleep was that my muscular, military brother was sleeping in between me and the window in case a crazed killer climbed in.

This book is a thriller involving crime solvers with special psychic abilities. The search for the killer in this murder mystery thriller is quite exciting. It involves a serial killer and the search to find him is quite involved. Good descriptions of police work involved with solving the crime.

Thsi is book one of a series of three - maybe more now - I hope. See my review on "Sense of Evil". The review didn't take in all of the three books, but if you're interested in how I felt about the author, which is fabulous, then you can look at my feeble attempt to praise her.

Not bad for a free book. I'm not really a fan of the paranormal stuff though, I don't think it works all that well in the context of a story that is more or less a classic thriller. And I really could have done without the romance, squeezed in the last couple of pages Dan Brown style.

I love all Kay's books, and am always eagerly awaiting the next one. The Evil series and Haunting Rachel were my first, and then I went searching for others. Love the psychic/paranormal twists.

Very chilling story. Reader is kept on the edge of the seat trying to figure out who the killer is. I enjoyed the mystery, horror, romance and the touch of paranormal mixed in the story.

This is the first in a series about a group of investigators using paranormal abilities to solve murders, usually serial. Pretty good, I liked others of the series better.

While I enjoyed Haunting Rachel considerably more this is still a reasonably good book. Like all Hooper novels it introduces a whole new sort of "magic".

Not the most pleasant read. Certainly the subject matter was dark, but what bothered me more was the dreary reading style of the narrator.
