After the sharp-eyed jay and the roaring lion, peace will come. . . .

I am a big fan of Erin Hunter and, more specifically, the Warriors saga. I fell in love with the cats and the books themselves a few years ago, and avidly read them until I reached this point. Though I still read, I couldn't help but ask myself over and over "WHEN IS THIS GOING TO END?"

The storyline of the Power of Three just seems to carry along in Omen of the Stars, and you start to wonder if the Erins were just trying to fit random things in to take up space and make a new series.

The first tw...more
I was really interested to see what the new characters would be like. After getting to know her, I enjoyed reading about Dovepaw because of her kind and strong-willed attitude. It was also a change to be able to read from the perspectives of Jayfeather and Lionblaze, considering that when a new series start in the Warriors series, the authors usually change characters and write from their perspective. In a way, I was kind of glad because I really like Lionblaze and Jayfeather and their story was...more

Jayfeather and Lionblaze still don't know who the third cat is supposed to be. It's either Ivypaw or don't know which until a few chapters into it.
Meanwhile, the lake has dried up, RiverClan is accusing the other Clans of stealing prey, and the third cat (who will remain nameless) knows that something is upstream, blocking the water flow.
All four Clans send cats on a mission to find the water and save the Clans (this whole "saving the Clans" thing happens a lot) but time is running...more
I am such a dork, lol BUT I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!! I read them over the past two years probably and I always found them to be great!!!! Cats that talk...ya I know sounds stupid but I love cats well actually animals in general so these books are great for me! Erin Hunter does a great job spinning tales of the lives of the 4 clans of cats. I couldn't pick a favorite in the series and be set on it, but if I had to it would be the first one Into The Wild, because in my eyes that is what started the wh...more
You can't afford to pass this book up! I can tell you right now this is going to be a great series....

In this book Ivykit and Dovekit, the children of Whitewing and Birchfall, will be apprenticed, and one of the two kits has a special power foreseen to become part of the Three--in the prophecy "There will be three kin of your kin who will hold the power of the stars in their paws." But who will it be? What will their power be? And to top it all off, what is Leafpool going to do now that her sec...more
Will it ever be right for the Prophecy to come to light, and just which cats make up the Three? Two of the cats are obvious, but the third could be any of Firestar's kin. I love the family lines, and connections and friendships that were made long ago become important even now. I have put off reading the guide books until I have fully finished all the series, but I am going to enjoy reexamining the full connections since Firestar joined the Clan.

Exciting, fresh writing keeps me going back to the...more
I'm an elementary school librarian and I feel that I should know what my students are reading. And I'm ashamed to admit that, despite the popularity of the Warrior series and its spin offs in the media centers I've worked in, I hadn't actually read one. So I picked up the first book in a series and got myself started.

Though this was the first book in the Omen of the Stars arc, I had a bit of a hard time in the beginning of the book -- lots of characters and the premise assumes that the reader ha...more

After three four years of hiatus...I finally decided to continue reading Warriors! dun dun dun
Truth be told, it's all thanks to Watership Down. I finished reading it last week and I couldn't get over how beautiful it was *here a single tear drops*. That eventually led me to think about Warriors since it was also a book about animals living like tribesmen of some sort. I wondered how my dear Brambleclaw was doing after he had his heart ripped apart in the last book I read (Sunrise).
Let me just s...more
The start of another series!!! What I always disliked about new series was that most of the time the old, familiar characters had to be cast aside to make room for the new heroes. I'm so glad that for series, Jayfeather and Lionblaze stay in the spotlight. Their prophecy isn't fulfilled yet, but Dovepaw completes it! YAY!!! I LOVE Lionblaze and Jayfeather, and even though it's only been one book, I already love Dovepaw just as much. She is the last special cat, who has the power to know about th...more

JayFeather and Lionblaze have found the final person that the prophecy speaks of. She is a young apprentice that is named Dovepaw, but darkness is rising in the forest and Dovepaw is only an apprentice. Will she Be trained before the forest is plunged in to battle? Read the book to find out! This book was one of the better books out of this everlasting series. I loved this book it shows many perspectives throughout the story. I like how the author put so much detail into every individual characte...more
The book was well written, it was neatly and clearly developed. Erin Hunter used the switch method to switch between two stories and characters to develop a bigger plot. The way she did that made it effective for the plot because it created a sense of cliff-hanging. When Dovepaw was traveling, they came into danger, and then it immediately switched to the other cats. Dovepaw was motivated by her powers to do anything she could to help save the Clans from the drought. Lionblaze was motivated to g...more
Young Reader Reaction: This book not only sets the stage for events to come, but ties up the loose ends from the last Warriors series. Even though it might be a little slower because you're unfamiliar with some of the characters, there are so many new ones that you can read this book without reading any of the others.

I would recommend The Fourth Apprentice to kids from fourth to sixth grade or even for older kids as a light read. It is full of suspense, action, and adventure. Animal lovers, espe...more
This book is the continuation to the previous series, the Power of Three. In this book, we see once again Jayfeather and Lionblaze, but with the addition of Dovepaw and Ivypaw. Dovepaw and Ivypaw are both Firestar's kin, but only one of them is the prophecy cat, the one with powers stronger than their ancestors in Starclan. And that cat is Dovepaw. Lionblaze and Jayfeather find out it is her when she discovers the cause of the drought in their forest. She can see things beyond what others can se...more

I think this is a great book just as great as the rests in the series. As the journey continues to find the 3rd cat in the prophecy Lionblaze and Jayfeather think they've finally found the one. As the clans suffer a terrible drought, Dovepaw tells her clan she thinks brown animals are blocking the river(beavers) and the whole clan thinks she is going crazy cause they've never heard or seen animals like that. But Lionblaze and Jayfeather noticed something. They noticed Doverpaw can see and sense...more

Do you like thrilling, suspenseful books? Well if you do then Omen of the Stars is the book for you. It’s one of my favorite books! I’d give it 10 out of 10. This book is an amazing fantasy and a great read if you like action, excitement and cats. I would recommend this to kids 13 and under. It’s really something!

It all started when Lionblaze and Jayfeather try to find the third cat to fulfill the prophecy after the tragic loss of their sister Hollyleaf. After experiencing Dovepaw’s extraordina...more

I thought this book changed the my thinking in the warriors series because of the change in plot. After the last series of Warriors (The Power of Three) i stopped reading them and forgot a lot about the previous plots and cats. When i started reading the series again this book refreshed my memory on the warriors so i would say this is a really good recap if you stopped reading warriors for a while. I also thought this was a really good book with many changes in what you think of the book at the...more
This is the first book in the fourth series of Warriors. It follows the points of view of Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Dovepaw, the daughter of Whitewing and Birchfall and Lionblaze's apprentice. A drought has left the cats starving and dying of thirst. Leopardstar claims that the river belongs to Riverclan and has started setting out patrols to prevent other clans from taking fish. Dovepaw is visited by Yellowfang in a dream and is told a prophecy "After the sharp-eyed jay and the roaring lion, pe...more

The book opens at the monthly full moon Gathering. The four warrior Clans are suffering due to a drought, which has been especially hard on RiverClan, whose main prey are fish. Leopardstar, leader of RiverClan, accuses the other Clans of stealing fish from the shrinking lake. She claims that RiverClan has whole ownership to the lake, and therefore, all that was in it, as her Clans' territory. The other Clans are outraged by this plan, but Firestar allows them to patrol in order to prevent a bat...more

If you haven't read the part of this series called Power of Three, don't read this review

"After the sharp-eyed jay and the roaring lion peace will come..." This is the prophecy that will come to a new apprentice in a dream, either Ivykit or Dovekit, soon to become Ivypaw and Dovepaw. In the previous part of this series, The Power of Three, Jaypaw (later to become Jayfeather) had a dream where Firestar, the leader of the Thunderclan was told, "There will be three, kin of your kin, who will hold...more

So, it took me a while to read this, but that's because I've been very busy with other things recently, nothing to do with the book. I really liked the book. It's not the best Warriors book, but I like the idea of a drought and cats having to find out what's blocking the water in the lake. It's very interesting to read about.

I also loved how there was a journey but it didn't go into multiple books. It shows how the Erin's are taking on what people have said and not making the journeys drag out as...more

“Welcome to our camp!" Blackstar called, beckoning them with his tail. "Rest here and take your pick of the fresh-kill pile."

"Who are you and what have you done with Blackstar?" Lionblaze muttered.”
“All she's caught is fleas! She's a medicine cat, not a warrior. She should be helping me, not trying to pretend that her entire history vanished on the day the truth came out.” 28 likes
