When her police contact asks her to look into a "suicide", she suddenly finds herself in a labyrinth of deception, drugs, murder -- and all-too-human corruption. Poor Jill... that's what I always end up thinking after I'm through with one of her books. This was another great one by Saintcrow. Jill of course is running around trying to save her city and getting caught in a crazy situation that ends up getting her almost killed a few times.

Then of course there's Perry... I sort of like him more and more every book even though I know we're supposed to dislike him. He just always shows up at the weirdest times and you never know quite what he's thinking.

Saul...more

This is the third book in the Jill Kismet series, but the first one I've read. Normally I try to read a series in the proper order, but when I began this book I hadn't done my due diligence to find out if it was part of a series. Oh well. Luckily for me, this book can read as a stand-alone, and there were no parts that required having read the prior books.

Jill Kismet is a hunter - a human that stands between the things that go bump in the night and regular humans - often protecting people that h...more

Book 3 in a dark urban fantasy featuring a superhero-tough heroine (Jill) with plenty of PTSD baggage, fighting big, bad, nasty demons right under our oblivious noses. It has a little of the same tone as the Dante Valentine series by the same author, but this setting is the contemporary Earth we all know and love, but with a twist.

If you are bothered by heavy angst and peaks into the character's psyche, including plenty of self-doubt, you might be turned off by this author. Her heroines are mes...more

Redemption Alley is the third book in the Jill Kismet series and overall I enjoyed it. Jill is a hunter and enhanced human being. What do I mean by that? She stroke a deal with a hellbreed (demon) and has a mark on her wrist giving her more strength, speed and better healing abilities. All of which is pretty useful when you spend day and night fighting things that goes bump in the night. This time around, Jill has two main affairs on her hands: Investigating a cop suicide that turned out to be a...more

I really enjoy this series and this author. She writes a mean fight scene! I was definitely missing Saul and more Perry in this one though, we dealt with a lot of characters we aren't really long-term invested in. The last few books were dealing with relationship stuff and wrangling with Jill's past and I loved them, so this one felt a bit on the "procedural" side, but still really enjoyable. Nice setup for big stuff next book though, I'll be reading!

Took me awhile to finish this book. I definitely can't read Lilith's work straight. If I'm saying other books are intense... Lilith shadows all of them! Dark, gritty, and snarky intense!

Pretty happy that Saul isn't in this book. :) He sort of annoys me and softens Jill... Maybe if Saul had more character depth like the first book... Theron had more depth in this book compared to Saul in the 2nd. In the second Saul was really just a sidekick.

Anyway, about Jill being all alone in this book, I like...more

Lilith Saintcrow has a way with heroines that kick ass, take names and still come off with the personality of someone I'd love to meet in real life. Her women are tough and brutal when the situation calls for it, even with doubts running rampant in their heads where all the boys they play with can't hear them. Jill Kissmet is no different and could easily overtake Dante Valentine as my favorite character of all time...maybe. She's definitely easier on the alpha male in her life, though he doesn'...more

Well, what can I say here that hasn't been said before? Maybe... combine Lilith Saintcrow's brain, some ink and paper, a kick-ass character, and some crazed hellish villains and you have a book that's an intense reading ride. All of the books that I've so far read by her have been enjoyable reads, and she does not shy away from doing horrible things to her characters. But with each book, I've found a strange combination of almost poetical writing and horror story aspects - it's like your nightma...more

I know... I know! Saul had to be on the res to care for his Mother. Good man, but I sorely did miss his cooking and cleaning in this one. More police, FBI here and we saw less of Perry. I am still not sure if that was a good thing, but if Jill can keep her strength ahead of Perry? Worth the transaction and a bit of cooling off. Great images of power radiating from the scar and Jill flying off high places... Have to love those helpful weres!
P.S. I would love to see an invoice/bill for all of Jil...more

Ok Jill...I'm done. I kept thinking you were going to get more interesting, that these books were going to be about more than gratuitous violence..and "I'm so tough I don't need to eat or sleep or be nice to anyone ever...blah blah blah..."

I really thought these books were going to have some kind of story Arc. But it seems like all of the interesting things that could develop the Character happen OFF STAGE. Like her whole relationship with Saul. The fact that they got married is casually dropped...more

This is the third book in the Jill Kismet series. In order to explain the events of the third books, I suppose I should give you a general idea of what the first two were like: a) Traditional romance where the Heroine must choose between two men, one of whom is a schmuck, and the other one who is not a schmuck. b) An Urban fantasy featuring the now very common Bad Ass Babe who may or may not have supernatural abilities, and may or may not be involved in a criminal justice field. c) A Dark Urban...more

Really liked Lilith Saintcrow's other series (Dante Vanentine) so I figured this would be similar. After listening to Night Shift (Jill Kismet #1) and Hunter's Prayer (Jill Kismet #2), I was willing to endure some more. While the story itself was pretty entertaining, the format in which I chose to experience it was both lacking and over-flowing.

Audiobook. The audiobook by GraphicAudio ("A movie, in your mind") was lacking good acting but, sadly, over-flowing with poor production. There is so muc...more
Martina the Book Fairy
This is an urban fantasy series that follows a bad-ass "hunter" named Jill Kismet. Hunters are humans who aren't afraid to tangle with the underworld, the darkside of crime. They work with local law agencies to solve any crimes involving "other" - which in this book is mostly monsters and demons called "hellbreed".

In this book, Jill (who hates being called "Kiss" btw) is asked by her police contact to look into the suicide of a cop. What seems like a favor for a friend, quickly turns dangerous a...more

Description: It's not the type of case Jill Kismet usually takes.

Another wonderful addition to the Jill Kismet series, minus one Saul who had to attend to his mother. I missed Saul in this book but look forward to him in the next. Every book Jill gets one step closer to dying and I can't imagine it getting harder but what fun would there be in reading this series without the trials and tribulations. This book is worth every bit of grim and blood splatter.

The Jill Kismet series is unusual and tightly written. Her characters have depth and are interesting people. They face challenges both inside themselves and in the action of their story. The story line is so very creative that I find it difficult to predict the ending. In this genre, generally, I can assume that good will win in the end, but how they get there is a puzzle. In this series the puzzle is quite good.

I'm a new fan of Lilith Saintcrow. I really like the character of Jill Kismet. She's not perfect, and doesn't always know the answer, but she never gives up. She's a kickass hunter of all things evil, but realizes there is a little bit of evil in all of us. She also claim she's not nice, but inside she truly has a soft side, which comes through in her sarcastic thoughts. I really love this series!

I'm glad I gave this series a chance. The first book was somewhat formulaic and Jill Kismet was fairly 2 dimensional but by the third book her character is fleshed out and more believable. I like a character with flaws and idiosyncrasies. I missed Saul being away in this book, but I see that his absence contributed to the chaos within the story.

This book was amazing! I love this series and this book just gave me more reason to love the Jill Kismet books! The mystery in this book had me hanging at every single word! The only thing I really missed was Saul. But I completely understand why he was absent. This book was a whole lot better than I thought it would be and I absolutely loved it! I was really excited when I finished it and realized there was only one time that she spoke to Perry in person! This book had a lot of interesting twi...more

I love this series! Paranormal without the romance that is such a big part of other series in this genre. Strong gritty characters in fast paced story lines...two of my favorite elements in any fiction. I certainly reccomend this series to anyone who loves paranormal but can do without the soft core porn.

This is book 3 of the "Jill Kismet, Kickass Bitch" series. This series continues to keep me on the edge of the sofa and is in my top 3 of Dark Urban Fantasy series. The main character is amazing! Action, adventure, plot twists, it's got everything you want in a great book and more.

Jill is back and her city is on the edge of an all out war where cops are dieing from corruption and Jill has been sent in to help. But once it her life is marked. With to many questions and things on her to do list Jill keeps getting almost killed. Can Jill figure it out before all hell breaks loose?

No Saul and a very little Perry. I missed Perry antagonizing Jill. Saul, on the other hand, wasn't really missed. I guess he's more distracting to me while I'm reading. ("Why is he with her?" "How can he put up with her?", etc.) Those questions didn't plague me this go round.
These books are so complex. There's always something(major)going on. Jill's constantly getting her butt kicked and nearly dying, but it's not til the end of the books that I figure out what's been going on. Throughout the bo...more

Liked it. Perhaps not as much as the other 3. There is only so many near death experiences I think your average hell tainted heroine can realistically handle in 1 book

Lilith is one of those authors you find and can't believe you've never heard about before. Another great book in the series. The rest are in my reading pile already.

As usual, Lilith Saintcrow does a wonderful job with her rich descriptions and prose. The relationships between the paranormal beings, shifters and hunters and Hellbreed and traders is exotic. She's dark, dark, dark, as always. Unfortunately her love interest was mostly not present in this story, although Lili did a good job keeping him alive in ours and the heroine's mind. I thought the plot was a little ocnfusing and drawn out, but generally solid. You have to like the tortured heroine thing a...more
