This has been such a fun series. Action packed, funny, light-hearted, yet a true show of friendship. There are so many unique characters in this series so far. Everybook brings at least one (not to mention the regular cast). Check out the official summary. Although it is a generic summary for every volume so far, it does a good job of what the series is.

This is a strange manga. It's not quite action, romance, horror, comedy, or even battle manga. It's some strange combination of all of them.
The same thing happens in every volume. I feel the author missed out in a really good opportunity to explore a lot of the issues with a vampire/ghoul relationship.
As it is, the plot advances at a snail's pace, while lots of fighting happens.

So much drama in this volume! It gave me a headache.

The story progression of this series is amazing. The author keeps things getting more and more interesting. Be it adding to each characters backstory, adding new characters, changing current ones, or having them do something more intense than the last chapter. He always makes it a fun and interesting read.
Ghouls and Monstrels oh my! Monstrels (a monster version of the human derogatory term "mongrel", meaning someone of mixed ethnic ancestry) are monsters who have a wide-range of powers and unknown parentage, unlike the "pure breeds" like Moka, are on the loose at the school. I like the idea of a sort of monster "lower class". At last, there might exist a woman that might NOT fall in love with Tsukune! Also, that exorcist/headmaster of the school is really creepy and I suspect that he knows that T...more
Moka gets posessed by a Monstrel nurse and attacks Tsukune, they also face off against a giant centipede monster. Tsukune begins to crave Moka's blood just as much as she craves his, which causes no end of angst. Not quite as good as the last volume, but still well worth a read. Artwork is just lovely and the characters are great fun.
Eh.... this volume really wasn't that great. It wasn't horrible, it was just boring. I was intrigued near the end to find the awesome exorcist guy (view spoiler) but other than that, nothing was particularly surprising or interesting. On to the next, I suppose.

Akihisa Ikeda (池田晃久) is a manga artist/manga-ka best known for the manga series Rosario + Vampire (ロザリオとバンパイア Rosario to Vampire). He's been a huge fan of vampires and monsters since he was a little kid. He says one of the perks of being a manga artist is being able to go for walks during the day when everybody else is stuck in the office.
