Passion galore with some very intense beautiful moments between Grey and Sirus, a shivers down your spine erotic romance both raw and tender. I couldn't help it, I had a soft spot for Grey he needed a bit of rough and he sure got it with Sirus, they both did actually and desperately. Loved this story so much, the slow sensual build and the emotional ups and downs a great mix of love and lust with a gorgeous couple of MC's. I wish we could have had a bit more at the end!

Grey’s Awakening is a pretty intense read. Past relationships, physical and emotional hurt, intolerance and learning to get through it all and move forward are huge themes in this book about Grey Cole, Kelsie’s brother from The Sweetest Tattoo and Sirus Wilder who is Kelsie’s close friend. These two men get off on the wrong foot when Gray shows up at his cabin and finds a gorgeous, very naked, Sirus there and jumps to the conclusion that his sister has set him up. And why not? He’d done the same thing to her a few years ago, so he isn’t putting it past her to do the very same thing to him. But Grey is fuming mad because he doesn’t want, nor does he need, a relationship to complicate his orderly life.

When Sirus stepped out of the shower, naked, the last thing he was expecting is to find a very handsome man standing in the living room. Sirus owns the cabin across the lake from Grey, but has never met the man. He’s a truck driver by trade, but spends as much of his free time as possible at the cabin working on his sculpting and free form art work. The plumbing inside the cabin is in need of repair, so the water has been turned off and Kelsie gave him permission to use their cabin for a few days. Sirus is immediately put on the defensive as Grey accuses him of all kinds of things, including being in cahoots with his sister.

There are a lot of things to love about this story, but let me tell you, it was also frustrating to watch Grey continually push Sirus away. He was rude at times and often hurtful to this man who was also trying to heal from a disastrous relationship. Too many times I wanted to tell Sirus that Grey wasn’t worth it, but fortunately Sirus was able to hold his own.

This book probably had more sex than any other book I’ve ever read. I think it’s kind of a given that men are more open to “sex only” relationships, and that’s certainly the case here. In general, I’m not a fan of those stories, but when reading erotica you really need to expect it. I was glad to get to know Grey better, ass that he often was, because even though he irked me more often than not, in the end it made the redemption and the happily ever after all the sweeter.

I really liked both characters although Sirus was my favorite. Big strong handsome men they also have an emotionally vulnerable side that's really appealing. I liked the ups and downs of their relationship as they struggle to open themselves up to each other.

The sex scenes are hot hot hot although at times Grey and Sirus are also sweetly tender.

Another part of the storyline I liked was Sirus' relationship with his family. His family is supportive of him although his Mother pretends as if he's never come out. Their scenes together were beautifully written and I felt Sirus' pain as he tries to deal with who he is and how his own Mother sees him.

One thing that did bother me with the story was some of the words and phrases used during the sex scenes. There are some descriptive words I like better than others and a lot of the ones used here are not my favorites. However, it didn't really affect my overall enjoyment of the story it was more of a ick feel as I read certain passages.

On a more humorous note, I kept seeing Sirius instead of Sirus and that just kept tripping me up. Again, nothing that affected my enjoyment.

Overall, this was a wonderfully written story. Strong and engaging protags, likable secondary characters, an interesting storyling and of course some hot man on man loving made this a very enjoyable read.

This was a very intense and damn hot read. I loved Sirus but I also kind of understood Grey's insecurities. Even though they came from totally different worlds, it was immediately clear they were meant for each other.
Like the previous book in the series, The Sweetest Tattoo, the sex scenes were off the charts hot but, in my opinion, the author does better in m/m. That quite long and highly gratifying scene where Grey learns how to enjoy bottoming was my favourite.

What a ludicrous book! Ludicrous and hot! The closest thing to actual porn on the page I've read for a while, with a short HEA epilogue thrown in there to prove it's a real romance. I think there's a felching scene off-page, so a star for that!

I've read a few reviews and it seems I am in the minority because I liked Grey better than Sirus.

Sirus is more open and apparently more sincere, but I really liked Grey's passionate reserve. When they are together, they literally sizzle. I didn't know what to expect, but I was also looking forward to potentially having a whole new sub-genre to explore.

I have always been fascinated by sexuality, gender, desire, etc. I studied it in college and these things are so complex, and they are interpreted and manifest themselves so differently with different people. Anyway, not heading towards a college paper, I promise. I mention this because after reading part of Grey's Awakening I realized that I was subconsciously trying to conform it into an M/F relationship. I have many gay friends, but I myself am heterosexual, so that's the reference point I'm working from. Once I became aware of it, I really tried to let go of trying to fit Grey and Sirus' relationship into a preconceived form that would be easier for me process, and instead tried to passively observe.

It made the reading experience completely different; while I still sometimes snapped out of the story, I was able to fall into it much more and watch everything less analytically, and more experientially. One of the reasons I sometimes "snapped" out was because this is definitely an erotic romance - things are very explicitly detailed. Although it would sometimes jolt me a little, I was surprised by how fully I was able to feel - and enjoy - the heat and sensuality of those scenes. They are absolutely sizzling and thick with sexual tension!! Very put-the-AC-up-high worthy.

In case you get the wrong impression, let me make it clear that Grey's Awakening is far more than just erotica. The connection between Grey and Sirus is so wonderfully written and well-developed. Yes it's hot, but it's also very emotional and sweet. They fit together so perfectly and their differences only enhance their relationship. Sirus is sensitive, accepting, and open; the way he deals with and acts towards Grey is great and exactly what the buttoned-up, reserved, distrusting, and closed-off Grey needs. For his part, it's obvious that the feelings he develops for Sirus are extremely strong; he truly appreciates Sirus and everything that he has to offer.

I loved that Dane didn't throw obstacle after obstacle in front of their relationship. From beginning to end, it's the same emotional obstacles they have to work through and eventually overcome. They were all realistic internal conflicts felt by the characters.

I read The Sweetest Tattoo before this one; it's the prequel, but they can be read independently. It features the romance between Kelsie (Grey's sister) and John (Grey's best friend and business partner). It's also a great read and one I highly recommend!(less)

What an excellent read, rich in character, story and smexy HOT! I love the way Sirus approaches and handles the demons from Grey's past, Sirus shows such compassion and insight when it comes to Grey and his emotions. The struggles and passion they go through makes their HEA all the better.

When Grey arrives at the cabin, he comes face to chest with one of the handsomest men he's ever seen. Sirus is gorgeous, and fresh out of the shower, clad only in a towel. Needless to say, Grey takes one look and is immediately on alert. He's completely attracted to Sirus, but assumes that he's got a girlfriend or wife. Nope, Sirus is gay -- and just as attracted to Grey, despite Grey's standoffish, somewhat nasty attitude. But soon, the men clear up that they're both gay and act on their attraction. They decide it will be a two week fling while Grey is at the cabin, but when it's over, it's over. Neither have been in a sexual relationship for a while, and are thinking to get their itches scratched. But what starts off as a fling becomes something much deeper and more complicated.

This is an interesting book. I liked both characters a lot, but definitely found Grey much harder to warm up to. Mostly, I think, because his inner monologue was very emotional, but his actions tended toward the dickish. Sirus was much easier to like and root for. Grey has had a hard life, and his reasons for not wanting a relationship make sense to me, but he jumped to a TON of incorrect conclusions about Sirus and was often completely wrong. But the character's connection, once they established it was interesting. Neither seemed able to give the other up, even when they *knew* the relationship as it was, was unhealthy. Both of them had very real issues, and it took them a while to get their heads out of their asses and talk to each other. But overall, when their HEA finally came, I was rooting for both of them, and hoping that they could work it out.

There were two things that bothered me about the story. The first is that they consistently had unprotected sex. They discuss it, and tell each other they're clean, and agree to have sex "bareback". I'm sorry, but in this day and age, with the types of disease that are around, and an easy enough method to protect yourself? That's not OK. Every time they had sex, in the back of my mind all I could think was, "Y'all need to put a wrapper on!" I think that if the author was trying to establish a trust relationship between them, unprotected sex was NOT the way to go. The second scene was just more of a squick thing and it involved butter and anal sex. I'm sorry, food implements going in any orifice other than the mouth during sex just is NOT OK with me. But that's more a personal preference than anything else.

Overall, Grey's Awakening is an incredibly hot, spice m/m romance, with plenty of angst and a really hot relationship between protagonists. I quite enjoyed this one!

Final grade: B-

PS - When I first read Sirus's name, I read it as "Sirius", and never quite bounced back to calling him Sirus. Clearly I have Harry Potter on the brain.(less)

After reading John & Kelsie’s story in the first book of this series, I couldn’t help pick this book up because I had to know what happened with Sirus. Before I write this review, I need a moment to fan myself. Ok, I’m ready now.

This is my first M/M book. EVER..and OHHH. MY. GOD! what an introduction! I was kind of thrown into a tailspin, but not in a bad way. In a *make me blush crimson* kind of way. Before I write this review, I need a moment to fan myself. Ok, I’m ready now.

This is my first M/M book. EVER..and OHHH. MY. GOD! what an introduction! I was kind of thrown into a tailspin, but not in a bad way. In a *make me blush crimson* kind of way. I have to say that I don’t generally read erotica, to help gauge where my review is coming from, I’ve read the Fifty Shades Trilogy and maybe 5 other “erotica” books that are comparable or less explicit than Fifty Shades. Therefore, in my limited experience of reading romance books in general, this is the most sexually explicit book I’ve read to date! When reading a romance, more often than not, I favor the hero over the heroine – because they are just so damn delicious.. and sweet.. and perfect - so I definitely see the appeal of a M/M book. We get 2 heroes!

Grey’s Awakening is the second book in the series and similar to the first book, the two main characters are coincidentally stuck with each other and sort of agree to share the secluded cabin as roommates. Well obviously, the platonic roommate situation does not last very long.

The best thing about this book is the two hot men and all sex they have – JUST KIDDING! That was not the best thing, but there are numerous sex scenes though. Seriously, they have sex at every turn…and man, are they hot! **blush. Again** This is the second story I’ve read from this author and what I love about this series is that she created a contemporary erotica with a lot of heart. True to its title, the story is really about Grey allowing himself to break down his defenses and acknowledge that he can love and be loved – by finding the one man patient enough to let him make this discovery – without Sirus sacrificing his own needs. These two have a unique balance with each other because they are both strong alpha males who won’t easily relinquish their dominance and show vulnerability. More Grey than Sirus though because Sirus is cautiously open to love.

My goodness, do I love Sirus! Such a manly man – he’s tall-big-and-muscular, drives a truck, lives in a cabin in the mountains, wearing his plaid shirts and work boots. Did I mention he’s tall-big-and-muscular? Yum! But before we can judge this man simply as eye candy, he’s also a family man, a talented artist, and from his relationship with his friends, he’s the nicest man with the biggest heart. He is so open to find/give love and be in a relationship, but he’s careful now because he was badly betrayed and hurt in his last relationship. I also love how he is with his family and especially how he honestly and wonderfully dealt with his mother. This man oozes love, kindness, and perfection. He wears his heart on his sleeves and it’s so damn attractive!

Grey’s troubles stem from his bad childhood where his parents were neglectful alcoholics. He had no control when he was 10 years old living in squalor without enough food, heat and water. Then he took control and with his grandmother’s help, he was able to get himself and his sister out of their dangerous home. I think from then on, it stayed with him that he must always be in control so that he won’t ever be put in a bad situation again. (view spoiler) It’s really very sad because by building strong walls to protect himself, he’s also keeping love away. Until Sirus came along. A redeeming quality about Grey though is that when he loves, he loves hard and so fully; as we can see in his relationship with his sister Kelsie, his best friend John, and his late grandmother.

Their time in the cabin was so short, but Sirus efficiently, effectively, and tenderly tore down Grey’s defensive walls. However engaging the sex scenes were, I would have enjoyed this story without them or less of them – (view spoiler) but this would leave readers with only 1/2 of the book :). I thoroughly enjoyed the tumultuous array of emotions both men experienced – their inner struggles, insecurities, frustration, jealousy, fear, and finally relief in being able to say “I love you” out loud. I wanted to cry for Grey in that moment, because it really felt like his heart was freed after being chained for so many years.

I recommend this book as a great romance… the emotions are beyond sexual orientation but if M/M rough and tumble sex bother you then I don’t know if this book is for you because it’s not one where you can just skip through those scenes since 1) there were so many and 2) honestly, those scenes do portray the men’s strong, passionate need and draw to each other. It seemed like because they are so closed off in the beginning – Grey more than Sirus – it was in the sex that they were first able to give a little piece of themselves to each other. Even their first time didn’t feel casual, detached, or just physical. I can’t say that after one book I’m now a fan of M/M books..however if there are more like this book, then I will definitely be a fan in no time!

Both are excellent reads in their own rights and do cross over into each other but I would have to say that of the two this one was probably more overt in its sexual attraction and tension. Not the typical reluctant bottom's mm romance tale, I enjoyed this book tremendously and it goes on my reread again and again list.

Well crafted with a balanced timing of incidents and emotional angst, both characters were a delight to inhabit and were truly complimentary to each other. Great individuals make for an even greater couple and I was rooting for these two from the beginning.

This is my first book by Cameron Dane and I really liked it. Greyson Cole is taking a vacation because everyone he knows is happily paired up and he isn’t. Because of a dramatic past he feels unable to commit and fully love, this took a toll on his last relationship which ended badly three years ago. Upon arriving to his cabin in the mountains he finds himself “face to naked chest” with Sirus Wilder. Sirus is a longtime friend of Grey’s sister and is using the cabin while his is under renovations. They both feel very attracted to each other and almost immediately decide to act on it. They both go into it thinking it will be just a week long fling, but since they aren’t used to that kind of mindless relationship, and because of the great chemistry and attraction, something that should be uncomplicated starts to become really complicated, and to muddle it even further they both have a lot of baggage to deal with.

This was an erotic romance no questions about it, the sex is hot and aplenty, but is not meaningless sex and beyond that there is an interesting take on a common story (two people hot for each other sharing a cabin in the middle of nowhere) and a couple of charming and lovable characters who experience ups and downs, and a lot of character growth.

I like erotic romance but it has to have an interesting story, otherwise it just feels like porn. So this book was perfect because it was really hot, but really interesting as well. Both Grey and Sirus felt real, especially Grey. Usually characters that are damaged and closed up like that tend to be almost cartoonish and one-dimensional, but Grey did have an honest reason to be like that. Sirus also had his share of baggage but he dealt with it in a different manner, he was the perfect guy to get Grey to come out of his shell. Sirus was a loving, sexy and strong guy. I loved that both characters had their vulnerable moments, and that they both were able to lean on each other.

The book seems longer than it really is mostly because it has a lot of sex in it, if you don’t like that type of books then don’t bother reading this one. The whole story takes place in a week, I don’t normally like romances that develop that fast but in this case it didn’t bother me, I was rooting for them the whole time to just get over themselves and work it out, this is one of those books were at the end you are sure that they will make it.

The sex is hot, but is nothing out of the ordinary, but there is a lot of it, it felt like every four pages or so there was a sex scene, perhaps there were too many sex scenes, but since the whole story revolves around two guys who decide to have no-strings-attached-sex the whole week they are spending together, then I guess those scenes had a reason to be. And then again, it is an erotic romance.

I’m definitely checking out Cameron’s backlist and I recommend this book to any fan of erotic m/m romances out there, and to people who want to try something different.

Wow, where to start. This book was frickin amazing. From start to finish I was enthralled by this book and stayed there until the end. When you hear a book is hot, you might not believe it. But trust me this book was HOT! And I'm not even blushing about it. I was a tiny bit skeptical in the beginning, but God, I enjoyed reading this.

In doing so though, he shut off his willingness to commit to and love more than his sister, grandmother, best friend and his work.

Sirus Wilder was the total opposite. He came from a large, loving family and was a truck driver. Sirus wanted nothing more than simple pleasures in life. He had a cozy cabin on a lake in the mountains where he could create beautiful works of art with the resources he had and only worked for as much as he needed. Sirus wanted to find love, but after being betrayed by the man he thought was the love of his life, he cut himself off from others while he worked through the pain. To complicate matters, his mom, unlike the rest of his family, refused to accept the fact he was gay. And her lack of acceptance hurt him deeply. So, he stayed hidden up in the mountains with his art.

When Grey finally takes a long overdue vacation at his cabin in the woods, he walks in to find a gorgeous man in only a towel coming out of his bathroom. His sister, a friend of Sirus, had sent Sirus Grey's cabin keys and offered use of the cabin while he was having work done in his place. What ensues from there is pure Alpha intensity. This book starts with a bang and never lets up. I loved how they discovered they were both gay, and how with every exchange they had instant, sizzling chemistry that began to break through their barriers, so that they could develop something more substantial - even though both swore they didn't want it. But could two men with such different lifestyles and priorities, never mind the long distance element, risk their hearts for what couldn't possibly work? Dane challenges Grey and Sirus at every turn and by the end my heart was wrung out (in a good way)! The strength, vulnerability and even beauty of these two men make them among my favorite m/m couples. I really enjoyed their story and was happy with the way it ended.

The half star ding was because I felt there was almost too much sex in the story. However, to be clear, it was all well-done and burn the pages up hot. In this respect, it reminded me of Bareback by Chris Owens (minus the cowboys of course), and I loved that book, too. All in all, it was a great read and worth the time/cost! This book is the second book in a series, but can be read as a stand alone. The first book, The Sweetest Tattoo, is the story of Grey's sister and best friend. I haven't read it yet, but plan to read it having enjoyed Grey's Awakening so much. Highly recommend!(less)

On the other hand, I completely loved Sirus and thought that he could do better. But they are stuck with each other and they are both attractive men, so of course something was going to happen. Grey's in town for a two week vacation. So they agree to a vacation affair. Even though they agree to a no-strings attached affair, I knew that Sirus would end up getting his heart broken by Grey.

Grey is the one that set the rules and boundaries. He's a control freak that way. Sirus agreed to those said rules. I get that. But Grey didn't have to act like a complete dick whenever Sirus went with his feelings (like a normal human being) and stepped outside those boundaries and said rules. Did I mention that I loved the book? Because I did. Despite Grey's faults (and he had many), I loved the developing romance and relationship between these two men. Sirus wears his heart on his sleeve despite trying not to. And with a guy like Grey, that is a dangerous thing. Sirus is able to get Grey to open up emotionally and talk about his past and we get a glimpse into why Grey is the prick that he is. But even knowing that, I still didn't like Grey. He didn't redeem himself for me until the very end, as in the Epilogue.

Flutter Factor: Grey's Awakening is beyond hot. There's sexy man love all over the place. The infamous rain scene that I was told about lived up to the hype. I absolutely loved Sirus' character and I knew that it would take him to break down Grey's emotional wall. We're on Grey's journey of opening himself up to love. Grey's Awakening is a hot, sexy romance about finding love when you don't want, don't expect it and don't plan it.(less)

I glad to see that the second in this series was so better than the first. Such a big improvement and I'm pleased that I gave this a chance. Cameron Dane does M/F brilliantly in some cases as suck in the 'ultimate kink'

These men both don't want attachments and then fall in too deep before they realize that they have. It's very pleasing to watch.

A top choice in MM romance. These are two *men* and it shows. They can be gritty, rough, and the play hard. It's positively thrilling to read because the intensity of it means the emotions it brings out in the reader are all the more powerful. Great dialogue, intriguing characters with flaws, and a story that propels you along make this a favorite!
