This book was really good. I didn't know how I would feel about it because it is written in first person, and it is NO secret how I HATE first person. But, it looked good, so I decided to bite the bullet. I am glad I did.

What surprised me about the book was how funny it was. I truly wasn't expecting to laugh out loud several times. Plus, I came to care about Mark. His inner thoughts rang true to me for some reason. He was very easy to relate to, and I would be proud to call hi More...

No more Mr. Nice Guy.
Mild mannered Mark Meehan’s good judgment flies out the window when he finds his lover banging another man. Things go from bad to worse as Mark’s crazy revenge scheme uncovers shocking secrets-sending him straight into the arms of hunky lawman and old friend, Tony Gervase, a man of limited patience and secrets of his own.
From Aspen Mountain Press.

I liked Mark. In fact no, I more than liked Mark I just adored this character. He was smart and sexy, but More...

Two words: Gay. Drama.

I had a fun time reading this book. The characters were enjoyable and story was highly entertaining.

If you like a book that contains a good break-up that includes public confrontations in front of town folk and God (literally), the dramatic removal of a cheating partner’s possessions from a home and locks being changed, then you’ll enjoy this book. But it’s so much more than that...that is just a fun element.

The three main players in th More...

I have a pretty strange sense of humour. I like silly visual gags and people who are in potentially embarrassing situations. With that in mind, the opening chapter of this novella hit all my funny buttons and I laughed out loud. I mean, how could you not laugh when a gay man storms into a Catholic church during an Ash Wednesday mass, denounces his lover as a cheat and liar and proceeds to hit him over the head with a bible? It certainly got my attention, that’s for sure.

The gay man i More...

LB hasn’t just written a tale of two men who are just hot for one another, hand over the lube and bend over, let’s get to the sex. Gobsmacked is where two friends take the next step into becoming lovers. Mark Meehan, the narrator is the more feminine of the two while Tony is the semi-alpha male who wants to protect Marc because Marc’s lover, Jamie has cheated on him and stolen Marc’s life’s savings. Mark now has to pick up the pieces after a man he trusted broke his heart.

Absolutely hilarious ... I wasn't sure exactly how the first scene would go, since it involves the main chara storming into a quiet Catholic church during mass, but O.M.G. I must have just about laughed my ass off. There are so many cute/funny short-liners, it kept the whole first half of the novel lively and interesting. Even when it started to get a bit more serious, a few short quips would lighten it back up, at least to the point that I had a feeling it was part of the character's on-going n More...

This is a big book for me this year. Not only was it my 100th read of 2010, but it was also my first m/m story that I ever read. *throws confetti* And since this was my first m/m read, you are probably thinking that there must be some back story to how I picked this particular title. Well, to that I say…of course there is!

Many of my bloggy friends read and truly enjoy the m/m genre. So I wanted to play too! I went to one of the best sources for m/m – KC from Smokin’ Hot Books. More...

When I first started the book, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I can certainly understand the desire for revenge - but the follow-through was a little...bloodthirsty. Ow.

I really liked the main character in the book. Mark was adorable, cute, brave, and sweet (which made the revenge thing a little out of character, but he WAS pushed really hard by circumstances).

Some of the things in the book rang a little untrue to me, and I didn't like some of the characters' pr More...

I have been hesitant to start another M/M Romance series, worried that none could match up with Josh Lanyon’s Adrien English series. However, I have been overloaded with homework lately and really needed a couple of quick reads and these novellas by L.B. Gregg fit right into that at only about 120 pages each.

Gobsmacked is about Mark, a seemingly normal and calm gay man who absolutely loses his cool when he finds out his lover is cheating on him. I absolutely loved his character, he w More...

Great book. The opening scene had my laughing out loud. I really liked Mark. He was witty, funny, sweet yet far from perfect which made him endearing. I love how he discovered a lot about himself in the face of such horrid betrayal.
What I didn't like was that I felt I didn't know enough about the other Main Character. Tony could have been an amazing character. By the end of the book I had understood, and grown to love Mark's character, but really didn't have a clue who Tony was or what made More...

None of the characters are likable. Except for the main character, everybody else cheats. And the main one simply forgives his love interest with sex. To top that, the MC has tendency to make life more difficult for himself by keep doing stupid things.

This is hands down one of the best male/male romance books I've read. LB Gregg writes with a witty style and with main characters you can really relate to. The first scene had me laughing with the biggest grin on my face.

Mark with his lab coat and red crocs storms into the local Smithfield church looking for Jaime, his soon to be ex boyfriend. Enraged that he found Jaime cheating on him with their creepy & hairy land lord Kev, he picks up the hardback bible, and in mid hymn beats More...

I was introduced to L.B.Gregg after reading her short in His for the Holidays. I'm now gobbling up her backlist as fast as I can. Her sense of humor is great and her characters are so real I feel like I'm reading stories about my own friends and wacky family members.

Gobsmacked is the first in the Men of Smithfield series and a very enjoyable read. I loved Mark but have a soft spot for Tony who's more my type of guy--tough but oh so gentle. The first scene in the church had me laug More...

This is the first of three books in The Men of Smithfield series. The other two are Happy Ending and Cover Me and both are on my TBR pile impatiently waiting to be read, because they know I badly want to.

Best fucking start in any book.. Just sayin..

Anyone who cheats needs to be knocked out, and if that happens to be in a church.. Then so be it.. Rock it Mark!

This was a great short story about the hurt you feel, if your partner cheats, and the (perfectly normal) thoughts of getting revenge on that same person..

While plotting his revenge, Mark needs the help from his first crush and old buddy, Tony..

And lets just say that Tony plays a big part More...

I'm not having much luck with this series. For some reason, I didn't find it that funny. It was very much slapstick humor that depended on the MC Mark doing a lot of dumb things. Also Tony the love interest was fine but then he confesses to something that should have required at least a couple days of groveling to get back in Mark's good graces. <spoiler> Tony knew that Mark's boyfriend was cheating with all the gay & closeted men in town & never told him. Even th More...

The first time I read this book, I was glued to my chair and thought it was a light, funny read. The second time did not prove as enjoyable. On a second read Mark came across as unhinged and dense not like a character in a screwball comedy a la "Bringing up Baby" which is how I read it the first time. Also, I couldn't figure out why Tony would be willing to put up with his craziness. Basically, I wish I had only read it once.

Mark still can't quite believe he caught his lover Jamie in bed with their landlord. Later that day when he sees Jamie's car parked outside of church he loses control and the results frankly had me laughing out loud. This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. Told in Mark's first person POV it's a fun and fast paced story.

Mark is an emotional man and his actions towards Jamie land him in hot water. Lucky for him he's got policeman Tony on his side. Frien More...

This was a fun, refreshing, and sexy read! The writing was clear with just the right amount of humor. Mark and Tony were very realistic and likable characters. It was obvious that they had a history, that they knew each other very well. The setting had a very small-town feel to it, as if everyone knew everyone else - and all of their business. I look forward to reading more from this author!

This was alternately cute and hot. I'm usually not a big fan of the first person POV, but Mark is such a witty, sassy and funny hero that you can't help but be drawn in. And Tony? Yum...he could arrest me any time he wants;) Truly a fan read, with sex scenes that have you fanning yourself. I'll definitely be reading the other books in this series.

I loved how this book made me laugh histerically in the begining. I could imagine Mark in his red crock walking with quick steps down the center isle of the church, sits behind the unsuspecting boyfriend, grabs the hymnal and whacks the slimeball in the back of the head with the book. I LOVED it!

Written in first person POV which often feels in-your-face to me except in the hands of great authors. Add to that two extremely snarky and not very likable characters and this book was a DNF for me. I made it to 71% on my Kindle then threw in the towel. Sorry, L.B., but It's just not my kind of story.

I'm giving this a 3 1/2. I liked the plot and the characters but just felt like I was being rushed through the story - not really given a chance to take in what was going on before something else major happened. Perhaps that was because of the overall length of the book, but I also felt it got a little bogged-down with repetitive sex, something that doesn't usually bother me. Anyhow, I did like it and will read the author again - and I really have to say that the first scene in the church w More...

Had me laughing my ass off from the get go! Contains a seemingly neurotic main character with a life that hits the skids in a big way. This results in him losing control in more ways than one when he attempts to get things back on track.

Loved the opening scene!

Thought Mark was a bit flaky, and never really got what Tony saw in him, but liked the transition from friends to lovers.

Interesting choices for the Jamie scenarios - felt real in terms of the damage that gambling can do to families and relationships.

I was so disappointed with this book. It had an awesome beginning and I thought, "Oh, this is going to be good!" But, alas, it wasn't. The problem was that the two main characters had no chemistry. In fact, they were not nice to each other, except when they were having sex. Now, I have to say that the sex scenes were hot, but it wasn't enough to overcome the other problems with the book. Gobsmacked had such a good premise and it could have been great if there was some romance and feeli More...
