I've had this book sitting around for a long time, and picked it up recently to read I was familiar with Crypto-Jews, Merinos, etc in Spain, but pretty unaware of their presence in the New World. This book is a good introduction, and a look into people living in two (or more) cultures, and the photos are excellent. As an adoptee, I see the Crypto-Jews in New Mexico today as another part of dislocated identity that has risen from culturally imposed secrets and shame. One of the most interesti...more
