The last book in the Last Chance Rescue series, Run to Me is the darkest of them. It dedicates a large (IMHO) amount of time depicting the more than creepy villain's thoughts and showing all kinds of torture. The things that not only Ethan and Shea, but another secondary character that shall remain nameless, go through are enough to give a weak mind nightmares. I can only believe that Ethan and Shea will live HEA because this is Romancelandia, as there's no way they would be still functional in ...more

This was the best—and darkest—book in this trilogy. So good in fact, I have troubles collecting my thoughts in order to write this review.
The two leads were tortured, their pasts were painful, the villain was twisted, the suspense and action intense, the steamy scenes beyond steamy, and the ending was absolutely lovely. The only thing lacking in what was supposed to be the big surprise was the big surprise, because that final plot twist was obvious almost from the get-go.

I like this series. Much of it stretches belief, but it's suspenseful, romantic and exciting, so I can handle that.

This third installment had a few problems for me, though. To be honest, I was disappointed with the sex. No, not because there wasn't enough of it. Because it was there. It seemed wrong in the context and I thought the hero should have waited until there were no secrets between them. It took some of the romance away and felt like it was the author fulfilling a quota.

Quick Summary
Shea Monroe goes deep undercover, so deep her friends and associates at Last Chance Rescue don't even know. She's trying to get the creep who killed her husband, Cole, but what she gets into is deep trouble. Ethan Bishop comes out of retirement to rescue her and finds anything but a willing hostage.

The mission
The target of Shea's mission is a sleazy rat named Donald Rosemount who, among many other distasteful things, is a professional kidnapper.

Christy Reece continues to meet my expectations of her writing.

I loved this book just as much as the other two, “Rescue Me“, and “Return To Me”.
Reece continues to send her tortured characters through the wringer, along with my heart.

The story/plot is introduced in the prior book, and brings us to Ixtapa, Mexico where Shea Monroe, who is on a non LCR mission to seek out the evil Donald Rosemount has been captured. Her personal mission was to seek out and kill Rosemount, who is responsi

Shea and Ethan have a very extensive history together. Too bad we don't get to know what it is until 3/4 of the book is over. It was frustrating, and I think I would have felt a lot more connected with them if I could have understood where they were each coming from. Their history as a couple is constantly hinted at. We know they were together and that Ethan didn't want to commit, but that's about it. There was a lot more than that between them, though. Both their childhoods were glosse

Author Christy Reece has a gift. She can take the most over-the-top plot and have you buy it without the slightest roll of your eyes. It's really quite a talent.

So, it wasn't the plot involving a pale, weedy man drugging strong, tough, healthy people to create mindless automatons that call him master and do his bidding that was the part I had a problem with. It wasn't the amnesia trope that resulted, either.

My issue was a desire to smack Ethan upside the head for hanging onto issues from the pas

What can I say. I am hooked on this author. This series is prob one of my favorites so far! Her characters are built so perfectly that you spend week after finishing the book still with this image in your mind. The romance/suspense is just right and she never fails when putting in a good storyline. The main character Ethan, was mention in the last book and it was just enough information to know his past when beginning to read this book. the way all the juicy info gets poured out in this book is ...more

Another great book from Christy Reece. I really enjoyed this story. I have always loved when old flames rekindle their love for each other even if it's under unfortunate circumstances. There was a surprise at the end of the book involving one of the and it kept me wanting for more. Christys books are full of suspense, steamy romance, well developed characters, and are fast paced so I am never bored while reading them. Christy is one of my favorite authors.

This is a 5+++++ star story,so dark intense emotional romantic suspense ,absolutely loved Ethan-Shea's story both have suffered so much but still they stood again and became LCR people giving their life to save others,Ethan loves Shea but he purposely said some hurtful things and pushed Shea away but now he has got this second chance and Shea does'nt remembers anything about past months and her life but slowly she is healing,Ethan has decided once she is safe he will go away till then he will pr ...more

An excellent plot and storyline. Shea Monroe goes deep cover to avenge the death of her husband but ends up walking into a trap and not finding her way out. Ethan Bishop has been contacted by LCR, the organization he hasn't worked for for a year, to find her and rescue her if she is in danger. When he does find her, Shea seems to have no memory of who she is, and who Ethan is either. She fights him every step of the way, attempting to escape from him and go back to her 'Master'. I think this book is perhaps my favorite of the series so far. It's a tough call. All three books I've read so far have been solid 4-star reads, but this one was maybe a smidge better than the previous two.

Series Note:
Third book in Reece's “Last Chance Rescue” series about an independent agency that focuses on rescuing victims, even if their means are outside the law. You may or may not be able to read this book without reading the other two first, but I think there'd be more of an impact if you

My Review:
Run to Me is one of my favorite books from Christy Reese's Last Chance Rescue (LCR) series. She is about to release book #7 in the series, Sweet Justice (August 30th), so has been hostessing chats about all the former books on her blog leading up to that. It's given me a chance to re-read and write full reviews on all these books that I love- a win-win for all of us.

This book is Shea and Et

I enjoyed this one, but it was my least favorite of the Trilogy. It's hard for me to swallow characters that swear for 98% of the book that they can't give their lover what they: need, deserve, want or some variation of how they aren't worthy and deserve to be punished yet they are noble and full of honor in every other aspect. Except when it comes to the woman that loves them... then since he's trying to "save her" from himself he has carte blanche to be a prick. It's wildly frustrating.

BUT, t

So, that's it! That's the last book of this series I have read. I won't go on this series because I don't like it. I went on the first 3 books just to be sure! ;)

And this last book has been the last straw. Page after page of violence, murder, whipping, mental abuse and just ugliness :(

This is the thing I liked less, there is no hope in those books. There is not a moment of happiness, no humour, no temporary relief. Even when our heroes/heroines are not mentally raped, tortured or simply put in d

This boo was much better than the previous two. If I hadn't been given the whole set, I would not have read past book one. This book didn't have the immature writing that the first two books suffered from, although the story was still a little unreal to me. I did like Ethan more than the previous male leads. Will definitely read the next book, in time, and hope they continue to develop, as the premise of these books interest me.

I think I'm being generous giving this 3*. I wasn't impressed with the writing or the plot, and didn't feel the angst. The "mind control" drug felt like a 1950's sci-fi flashback. Gabe's self-hated was too much and didn't feel real. Mostly the writing was simplistic, but I did enjoy some of the action scenes and the descriptions of the Tennessee countryside are nice.

When Last Chance Rescue operative Shea Monroe goes deep undercover vowing to find the man who killed her husband, she is captured and given mind altering drugs. But then she is rescued by her ex-lover, Ethan Bishop, a former LCR agent. Shea is drawn to Ethan even though she has no memory of him and their past. Ethan will do anything to help Shea recover, but he cannot allow his feelings for her to resurface.

I didn't like this book as much as the first two in the series. It wasn't a bad book, but

I liked this book! It was interesting, and slightly creepy. I was defiantly hooked though and had a hard time putting it down.

Shea and Ethan are incredibly interesting characters. With their pasts, the ops they worked together on with LCR, and their past love life, they are well developed and interesting. I loved both Shea and Ethan's personalities and enjoyed the bickering between them. Their feelings for each other were incredible. It was easy to feel the emotions between them, even from the b

After Shea lost her husband, Cole during an op that went bad, she went deep undercover to get revenge on the man responsible. She didn't realize it was a trap until it was too late. Instead of killing her, her captor decides that torture is more appealing, until he starts to see her as a companion. This villain seriously creeped me out! To make Shea more compliant, he injects her with drug cocktails his doctors have developed. This specific drug manages to erase all of Shea's memories and turn h

Run to Me:
This is the 3rd book in the first trilogy of the Last Chance Rescue series. This story revolves around Ethan Bishop & Shea Monroe. Again, I loved this book. Neither have had a perfect past and must work through their inner turmoils and what ultimately severed their relationship.

This had all the right elements for a fantastic 5 star read. Great (tho a tad far-fetched) plotline, terrific hero and heroine, fantastic side-characters, hot sexual tension, good romantic build up and sick villain.

What stopped it from being a solid 5 for me though was something of a personal preference not anything wrong with the writing etc. When a romantic suspense novel is full of trauma for either the hero or heroine, I prefer to at least know a bit about the characters before the trauma h

My Take
What kind of man actually wants to surround himself with robots? Rosemount actually misses having someone around to listen to him prattle on about his day and worship him without judgment. To curl up and be his pet. To have no meaningful conversation. Yuck.

I liked this better than the second book.

The uber-villain was just as mad as ever - seriously, he has developed some kind of drug cocktail that makes people lose all memory and act like automatons.

Villain aside the story was more gripping, a couple torn apart then brought together with the Damoclean sword of memory hanging over them? What's not to love?

Seriously, I liked Ethan more than Noah, sure Ethan still had that I'm too bad for anyone to get close to me, it's my burden to be al

Growing up in a tiny community in Alabama boasting only one stop sign and a gas station gave Christy ample opportunity to create daring adventures in her head. When she wasn't thinking of her story characters, Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys kept her entertained and out of trouble. Later came the chills of Stephen King and the thrills of John Grisham, but the romance genre always held a strong place ...more
