Well I was personally dissapointed in this one. Comparing this series to Night Watch series, I have to say the Night Watch series was by far better.
In the first and second book Niol was the almighty level ten demon who seemed to be actually interesting character. Well in this book .. he was still level 10 and was supposed to be " the baddest ass in the town" but basically some random chick took away all his ability to think and act. So his "badass" attitude was ruined by the constant thoughts of...more Well I was personally dissapointed in this one. In the first and second book Niol was the almighty level ten demon who seemed to be actually interesting character. Well in this book .. he was still level 10 and was supposed to be " the baddest ass in the town" but basically some random chick took away all his ability to think and act. So his "badass" attitude was ruined by the constant thoughts of the "lovey redhead with great ass". I mean, there is only so many times one can read that the girl is gorgeous before it starts getting on nerves.
Now Holly was the semi-typical cliche journalist with the attitude ( at least in the beginning) that the " public has the right to know". Now that type of characters always make me want to scream. So one might say I was opposed to her from the beginning. Later on she didnt use those phrases anymore that much and at some point it even seemed that she actually had a brain but yeah.. the ending blehh.
Holly was just so selfcentered and seemed to think she can "get to the bottom of that case". I mean, yes, that was kind of her job but.... in case u KNOW ur up against DEMONS and you r some semi-demon/basically human .. ur in way over ur head. And her idea that she and Niol were partners? ... well not to ruin the romance and all but it was pretty obvious from the beginning that Niol just wanted to get laid.
So all in all Id say the "romance" part was .. mehh on this book. The storyline was interesting at parts but then Holly just had to stick her nose everywhere ( I mean when ur with ur bf at his work and his workers come to HIM and tell that there is a trouble which HE has to come and see .. what could make a person think that they r equal and SHE should go check it out? ). There were alot of parts like that in this book and I personally found it highly annoying. But maybe thats just me.
So to sum up since i got abit carried away, id say the book was entertaining but i was dissapointed in it. I actually hoped more from it since I read the Night Watch series first and actually loved it. SO i gave it 2 stars because I actually finished the book AND it only made me want to throw it at the wall half of the time:)(less)

The third and last volume of the Midnight-mini-series, and to me the best.

I liked the whole series, likes the rather fresh and hilarious story-ideas of the other volumes (a psychotherapist treating supernaturals in trouble: vampires afraid of blood, succubi wanting true love instead of sex, see my reviews for "Hotter After Midnight" and "Midnight Sins"), and although the third volume is based on rather conventinal plot around demons, it is my favorite of the three. Cynthia Eden’s Midnight Master is a book not to be missed! Her books are guaranteed to keep your interest because her characters are: strong, likeable and exciting. As she continues her Midnight series we are introduced to new players and learn intriguing details concerning the Others. A world filled with: demons, shifters and vampires that co-exist with humans. Although it is part of a series, Midnight Master can be easily read alone. If anything, reading this book will make you rush to read the prior books in the series!

There is whole different world where demons, vampire and shifters mask their true natures. These Others have enormous power and hide themselves from humans even as they live among them. Since finding out there about the Others, Holly’s life has become more exciting but also more dangerous. These supernaturals may be stronger than her but that isn’t going to stop her from finding the truth and reporting it. When one of her demon contacts is murdered, Holly is determined to find justice. She hunts down Noil, a level 10 demon with powers she can’t begin to imagine. Although she needs his help to track down the killer she is troubled by her attraction to the dark and sexy demon. He is temptation itself. When the murderer targets Holly, she only deepens her investigation and learns some hard truths about herself.

Noil’s demon powers are something he tries to hide. His abilities are destructive. When his last lover died he unleashed his powers and the sight wasn’t pretty. He doesn’t regret his actions but holds them and his emotions on a tight leash. When Holly tries to enlist his aid Noil tries to ignore her even if she haunts his dreams. He has no business being with anyone, much less with a fragile human. But Holly has a mind of her own and if Noil won’t help her, she will have to do it herself. And Noil finds he can’t let that happen.

I always look forward to reading any book by Cynthia Eden and Midnight Master was no exception. Her books are always fresh and exhilarating. Her confident writing style flows so easily I hardly realize it before I am almost done. I especially enjoyed Holly’s character. Although she realizes being a human is a disadvantage among the Others she still pursues the truth. She is an admirable crusader that I found a perfect foil for Noil. Noil is mysterious and mesmerizing but he needs Holly’s ‘light.’ I love how he becomes protective and caring with Holly. In addition to the great characters, I also found this story an engaging read because Cynthia Eden’s explores the demon world and she reveals secrets as well as introduces new characters. I can’t wait to see how these new turns of events may change future storylines!!

I highly recommend Midnight Master. But WARNING, once you try it I know you will have to get your hands on the rest of series. As a suggestion, if you are a first time reader of her works you might want to start with the first book in the Midnight series, Hotter After Midnight, which is a wonderful shifter romance.

Niol has been an ongoing character in the previous books; he's a level 10 demon which means he is extremely powerful and no one would ever call him cuddly. He becomes the hero in this book - despite his frequent efforts to convince one and all he is NOT any kind of a hero, good guy, or white knight. Just finished Midnight’s Master and I absolutely loved it. A word of advice though, if you have not read the first 2 books (Hotter After Midnight & Midnight Sins) of this “trilogy”, I suggest you reading them. Although these can be read as standalone novels, reading the first two will give you insight and knowledge of all the characters and stories.

Hell of a book, all around. While I very much liked the first in the series, and thought the second one was quite good, this one was great. Featuring Niol, the all powerful level 10 demon bad-boy from the two previous books, and intrepid reporter Holly Storm, Midnight's Master is another great paranormal suspense.

The third in Cynthia Eden's Midnight series. I continue to think she is too preoccupied with sex and making it graphic must make it better? The sex in this book though like her first Hotter After Midnight is constructive to the story and so I'll forgive her for being a little overzealous in this department. That aside I do love the mythology that she has setup in her world and thoroughly enjoyed the story.

I LOVE Niol. I knew from the beginning of this series that he was a guy that, although he is a bad-ass, kick-ass kind of demon who comes across as a heartless jerk, had much more depth that he just never allowed anybody to see, probably even himself. (Maybe a little like the Grinch, only hotter and badder! LOL!) It was great to see Holly bring out the softer side of Niol. I did not plan to read this book as part of my currently reading list. I picked it up just to see if it would be any good, but once I started I had a hard time putting it down, so I'm adding it into my material, seeing how I read it in such a short amount of time.

It sure didn’t – Niol absolutely lived up to my expectations and then some.

I love ambiguous characters – the contrast between light and dark, soft and hard, good and bad. They are always among the most interesting to read, but all too often authors make the mistake of thinking to be a hero, they need to be ‘good’ – to somehow turn their lives around through the love of a good woman. Not so.

As a level 10 Demon, the most powerful known, and owner of a notorious club for the other - supernatural beings – Niol is the baddest badass around. He takes care of his own and doesn’t care what it takes to do just that.He is unapologetically dangerous, and he answers to no-one. That’s how Niol started this book, and that’s how he finished it. No compromises – and I couldn’t be happier.

We got to see a little of the characters from the previous books, but this one was squarely focused on Niol and reporter Holly, as it should be. For some reason, I wasn’t expecting to like Holly, but she made a great partner for Niol with a good mix of bravery and common sense – no TSTL moments for this heroine, thankfully.

As with all the books in this series, there is an equal mix of romance and suspense – both of which came together beautifully in this instalment and were excellently executed. There were a few interesting twists in this one, which focused on the hunt for a human hunting and killing demons (whose existence remains largely unknown). A really great book both to end the series, and in its own right.

Holly and Niol trudge through dangerous waters, using the ruse that they are dating as a reason to be together...while she desperately tries keep fiction from becoming reality.

Niol and Holly are a forest fire. The instant heat between these two smolder the pages. Holly faces a few hard truths with Niol at hand to help, or kiss, as needed. Her instant attraction to him is confusing to her at first. He is so much more than a bad boy, he is the ultimate bad guy who rules with a firm hand, not pats on the back. Niol is trying to reign in the heat that flares whenever the sexy reporter is within his sphere of awareness. She isn't capable of swimming in the deep end of his waters. She's innocent, caring and a shining light. He's far from innocent, cares very little about a very few and is surrounded by shadows.

This book flew by, there was too pages (I think I would say that even if this was a 2,000 page tome). Niol is uber hot and the tender way he treats Holly warms me. This is a book that I know I will read over and over and never tire of. Holly is alternately tough and vulnerable, which she manages to pull off without seeming weak.

Bottom line: Cynthia Eden is an awesome author who creates characters that are real to the reader. I know that I want a Niol of my very own.

Making someone who has practically been the badass villain in the first two books of a series into the hero of the third is impossible, I thought. Well, Cynthia Eden obviously didn’t because she made me ~~lust~~ like someone and cheer for someone who was supposed to be the bad guy.

MANNNNNN!!!!! All I need to say is Niol...dude/demon whatever is amazing *le sigh* This book was honestly better than the first two and so far thee best book I've read from cynthia eden. The love between the Niol and Holly is amazing made me want what they had. It was honest and real and you were able to see them fall for each a lot better than the other characters in the other books....

The suspense was good but again, this book didn't do it for me. The passion in this gets 5 stars, but as a whole this story was just bland.

The worst thing about this story was Holly. She was annoyed me to death - stubborn, bossy, pushy, needy, everything she did jeopardized the people/the Other around her and she brought up her cheating ex one too many times. I'm not stupid so I didn't need the constant reminder of what made Zack so bad in her book *eyeroll*

Hm, the characters were pretty strong, but if you read enough of these types of books, you would see they weren't that unusual. Would have liked to get more into the psyche of Niol, a little more of his history, other than lost loves. Lots of demon/werewolf/vampire stuff, don't know how they think they are hiding it, blowing out walls and running non-so-secret labs. Of course everyone has to look hot (especially the succubus). Not bad, just nothing new.

Do not miss reading this book. All Cynthia's book keep your interest because the characters are kick ass, hot and damn sexy. This book is a world where demons, shifters and vampires live in the human world. Holly is the reporter out to find who murdered her sources who happen to be demons. She enlists the help of one level ten badass sexy as all hell demon Niol. The strongest of all the demons.

this may be my favorite demon book i have read yet, and i have a thing for demons lately. i liked the different facets we got to see of Niol. along the way he never traded in his horns for a halo. there was no misconception about what he was or capable of, but we saw there was more than the growling exterior he shows off so often.

This book was the crown jewel of the Midnight series. This book was the most intriguing and the characters and story the most complex. Holly Storm and Niol Lapen had a sizzling chemistry. I don't want to write a lengthy review but I will that that this book was a great read. Nuff said. :).

OMG! OMG! Niol and Holly are my favourite couple of all time! Niol is such a bad boy but when he and Holly get closer he just softens just a little and I LOVE that about him. What? No girl can turn down a bad boy! It's true, just read this book and it will prove my point :D I have re-read this book at least 20 times!

Really like Niol, but Holly was iffy for first 1/2 of the book, then she was likeable instead of boring. I miss the Monster Dr., she's hardly in this book either. The first 1/4 of the book was so so, but then it really picked up. Great twist on who the killer is. Second half of this book is really good, the first half was okay.

Finally the story of Niol. I don't really even know how to properly announce his name. He is a level 10 demon who is falling for reporter Holly. Good story, I figured it out about half way through but it was a good story. I'm just not into demons but if I was, this is a good series to read.

Finally I'm getting around to my review after re-reading Midnight's Master, book three in Cynthia Eden's series Midnight, and frankly my favorite of them all.
Niol is a level ten (freakishly powerful) demon who is intrigued with Holly a reporter with her own secrets. They make a deal to work together and find the killer who is going after demons. They have no clue where this teamwork will take them.

Midnight's Master was a great book to read. I'm such a sucker for bad boy falls for nice girl books, so this one was right up my alley. I'd been hoping that one of the books in this trilogy would tell Niol's story and I wasn't dissapointed.

Oh! Wow! Hot! Steamy! FANtastic!!! Darn good chance that Midnight's Master, Midnight Trilogy, Book 3, will be one of the best paranormal romance novels that I will read in 2010. I found Niol Lapen the most interesting secondary character in the first two books. His was the story for which I was waiting and author Cynthia Eden did not disappoint me. Very good series. I can never figure out the killer and that makes it a well written mystery. Eden creates strong heroines and really hot leading men. And when she brings heat it is steamy.
