3.5 stars. I picked it up under the mistaken impression that it was a cozy, but it doesn't quite fit under the category. There's a lot more blatant sexual tension (and almost-action) between Chrissy and Rivera, for one thing. But I enjoyed it all the same; Unzipped is hilarious and a great way to while away a few hours. As for the comparisons to Stephanie Plum, I found little resemblance to the Plum books other than a slight similarity in general tone and style. It's far from a rip-off, and I fo More...

This book came highly recommended by someone who's book taste and mine share a lot in common. So I didn't hesitate to pick it up. Well, actually I forgot about it the first time but I bought it the second time. I will agree it is amusing in parts, but I didn't find it laugh out loud funny. And, by the third attempted rape and various other close calls I was no longer amused. This is the first book in a mystery series, but honestly everything the characters did seem to be convoluted. While it mig More...

Unzipped starts off a bit too slow but eventually picks up after a few chapters. The storyline and plot is too dull and lacking. The characters are two-dimensional. Their personalities aren't believable and a bit dry. The mystery? A client of psychologist Christina McMullen drops dead in her office during a session. She tries to clear her name as she believes she's the suspected murderer. Enter Lieutenant Jack Rivera. He's in charge of the case and clearly tries to get Christina to confess. But More...

This is another book with pretty good reviews but is not one that I enjoyed. In fact, it drove me nuts with the constant goofy similes. The main character, Chrissy McMullen, is another Stephanie Plum rip off. However, it took me seven or eight books to tire of Stephanie instead of only seven or eight pages as was the case for Chrissy. The interaction between Chrissy and Lieutenant Rivera is unbelievable to the point of being bizarre. The murderer is easy to figure out because there aren't really More...

3.5 stars. Christina's "investigative" style is bumbling, even for this genre. She has a terrible time explaining her innocence and dodging questions, and her attempts to solve the mystery and restore her reputation is haphazard. But it improves as the book goes along, and by the end I was liking her a lot better. (I'm halfway through book 2 now, and liking her even more.) One thing I'm not a fan of is neverending sexual tension. Tension, yes, but holy cow... let's resolve it at some p More...

3.5 star read!

This was a nice mystery although not quite in the 'cozy' style as there was just as much focus on the developing relationship between Chrissy and Rivera...it is almost in the style of Chick Lit.

The storyline was enjoyable and the mystery developed fairly well although Chrissy was more focused on clearing her name and proving she was innocent to begin with. Near the end Chrissy becomes more involved in finding out who the murderer is as she has finally had More...

I did like this. Chrissy is a little dinghy for a psychologist, but who isn't? I was really annoyed at the way the detective treated her in the first half of this book, I thought it was extremely unrealistic and I almost put it down because of it. But as the romance developed and the mystery deepened (not that deep - there is a lack of suspects), it got better and was just a fun read. I will read the next in the series and usually these types of books get better as the formula develops.

I would give this 3.5 stars. It is the first book in a series featuring Chrissy McMullen and is written in a Janet Evanovich style. In the beginning the humor is a bit over the top and feels a bit forced. Of course there is a love interest with a cop investigating the crime in which McMullen is involved. All in all, and entertaining read. I read it on a beach, which was perfect. I would give another a try.

This book made me laugh out loud. Rare for a romance novel. The main character is likely and flawed, which helps in this genre. I have already placed on hold the other 3 in this series.

If Chrissy McMullen thought psychoanalyzing Los Angeleans was going to be easier then slinging drinks as a cocktail waitress, then she is in for a surprise. Her football star client “Bomber” Bomstad has an idea of how Chrissy can help him with his problems. Once “Bomber” unzips his pants Chrissy knows she’s in for a fight, but that goes wrong when he drops dead. Dark and handsome cop Jack Rivera enters her office and is sure that Chrissy is guilty of murder — or misconduct of some sort. In Unzip More...

Loved this book enou to go out and immediately order all the rest in the series. Comparisons to Syephanie Plum are misplaced in my opinion. The main character is witty and funny, but there was none of the slapstick you find in the Plum novels. Indeed there are a few very serious scenes throughout the book that make it hard to fit this book into a cozy category. Definitely a great find.

Christina McMullen has worked hard to go from waitress in a seedy bar to getting her degrees to be a psychologist in LA. So the last thing she needs is for her most high-profile patient to drop dead in her office with his fly open. But that is just what happens. When suspicions turn to her, she decides to find out exactly who is responsible.

I really enjoyed this book. It is very funny and the mystery is pretty good. I like Chrissy and the whole cast of characters. People who like Ste More...

Interesting story and characters. I liked that Chrissy would come up with a stupid idea (like B&E) and then realize it is a stupid idea instead of just going for it and hoping it all worked out.
