Recommends it for: those who love Carl's books and looking for the spice
I don't know about you, but it seems that each time Carl Weber writes a new one, he pushes that envelope a little further and further until you can't help but either love it or leave it. In this latest offering, Carl gives some love to the BBW (Big Beautiful Women) by having a book club of them located in Queens. Tammy, the President, is a wife and mother who pushes her own envelope by having her best friend Egypt become a threesome to her loving husband Tim for his birthday. Sounds good and kin...more

Sex in the City!!!

Carl Weber really put it down with this one. All of the characters were colorful and completely developed. Nikki, Tammy, Isis and CoCo take readers on a rollercoaster ride into their marriages, friendships, marriages and affairs. I was drawn into this book from page one! You'll never believe some of the things these women did and went through. On more than one occasion I was laughing out loud and screaming at the characters. Carl Weber made me feel like I was fl...more

I loved this book; when I first started I did not finish because I had so much other stuff going on. I finally finished the book in April and I was so mad that I did not finish it back in October when I first started reading the book. The lesson is to never, never, never have a three some with your friend especially your bestfriend. If you think about doing something like that think before you act. Next lesson if you ever want to have an affair dont' do it with someone you or your family is clos...more

What can I say? It's a Carl Weber novel. The women in this novel are big, beautiful women who love books, at least that is the main reason they have created the Big Girls Book Club. However, with all of the sex, drama, cheating, lying, sibling rivalry, and lesbian abuse going on, each character could be the heroine of their own novel. Overall, it was a good read, a guilty pleasure type of novel. Good smut. Enjoyable. The kind of book you take to the beach or to the hair salon. Interestin...more

I haven't read a Carl Weber book in a while. This book was a mixture of emotions for me. Some angry, laughter, type of emotions. What I would've preferred was to get to know these four women Eygpt, Isis, Tammy, Nikki, and Coco at the beginning of the book. I hate that CW waited until the middle to the end to reveal their history. The sex scenes were quite Rated R, and at times tiresome. It seems like every page someone was getting it on, and from the point on I begin to get a little ...more

Carl Weber did good with this one, but before I get into the review, -first the mechanics: Character development was excellent (Carl Weber is an masterful author at this). There was no stalling, the story moved very well. Plot points were set and well developed. There were minimum errors (I only found one). Nice thick cream-colored paper, the font style and size was excellent. Adult Theme, but suited for the matured young adult.

There are no big surprises or shocking twists in this nove...more

This was a really good book. Although at times very predictable because it follows the same urban novel formula, it was still a very enjoyable read.

Once I got past the annoyance of the topics involved in all urban novels (baby mama drama, hoodlum/hood rat, and Ebonics) I was able to settle in for a most interesting read. The chapters are divided into the four main characters telling their own stories. Not once did I lose my pace, get bored, or mix up the stories or characters. Except...more

I have to give Carl Webber credit for giving the larger ladies leading roles as desirable women in a novel. This is the first novel I've read that has celebrated full-figured women.

However, for me the book was just too over the top. And his writing style was a little elementary. I'm not sure if I'll be seeking out another one of novels anytime soon.

What can I say about this book, it was excellent. It was easy to follow, even thought there was four main characters. Their stoylines really kept my interest. Mr.Weber did well on his concepts of the sequence of events. I really enjoyed this book. This was the first book of his I have read and I believe it won't be the last.

Carl Weber is one of my favorite writers, and each book that I read by him, has me falling in love with each and every character. Their personalities are so different and amazing. I can even relate to each character in some way.

This story is truly wonderful, and I didn't want to see it end. There's drama on every page, and that's what I like. lol

WOO somthing on the side something on the side what can i say the book was apsolutely great like i have said before carl weber never disappoints me. This book was great it had alot of twists and turns that you would have never thought would have been in it like with nikki im tellin you it is really good.

The dialogue is pretty bad, lots of cliched phrases, but I really liked the characters & plot. Why do men always assume women talk like them when they are alone? I don't think I have ever spoken with a woman who talked about "dick" all the time....

I must say that I love Carl Weber's writing style. Each of his main characters is given their own chapter and he tells the story in the first person narrative so well.
The book emphasises the fact that the four main characters: Nikki, Coco, Tammy & Isis are plus size women. But, they are women with a positive body image of themselves even if other areas of their lives are a shambles. They never attribute their being big to the negatives in their life. In fact, their plus size is a benefit....more

Excellent read. Carl Webber always fascinate me with his style of writing and with his characters. I really enjoy how each character comes to life in his books. Its like I am watching a movie while I am reading his books.

This was a great book, it started a little slow but it picked up. Tammy was a fool why mess up something so good?? That Coco was a mess but she knew how to get what she wanted...Carl did a great job on this one as he always does

Loved this book. These women are off the chain! It's like their lives were so packed with drama it was crazy. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes a good juicy book about love, sex, scandall, and friendship.

OMG...this book was wild! LOL..but alot of the story had me thinking about relationships and what adding a 3rd person in your bed may do to your relationship....good or bad...who wants to open that pandoras box? Not me!!!

Something on the Side is the latest offering from Carl Weber. It's concept is very unique in that book features all plus-sized women who don't let their dress sizes or anything else hinder them in their pursuit of love and happiness. In typical Carl Weber fashion, there is high drama, hot sex, and plot twists up until the last page.

The down side: I thought that the characters could have been a little more developed, and I would've like it if they had something going for them outside...more

I loved this book it kept me on a rollercoaster ride with all it's drama, love, secrets, it was a good read i would read again, it should be made into a movie, i would go see it, Carl is a wonderful writter.

This book was dedicated to "Big Girls" being one, I didn't feel that honored. It had its good moments, but the man/women drama gets old, and some parts not very unrealistic, but a fun read.

This was the best book I have ever read. I totally recommend this book to friends. I chose this book because it looked like a good read. I can truly say, it was well worth my money.
Adrienna
It sounded too much like Eric Jerome Dickey (but not good enough as his writing style) and almost as erotica as Zane (not sensual enough), and felt like the same old story!
La Tonya
This book really surprised me because I didnt think that I would have liked it as much as I did! It had some twists and turns and I LOVED each and everyone of them!!!
Cheryl
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was real to me. I can see the things that happen in the book really happening in real life with some people I know.
Ranae Baker
one of the best, me being a full figured woman was really feeling myself with being confident and secure with myself.
