Wow! I read a review that this book was about love, friendship, family, and work. But it was so much more. It was a hard-hitting look at the message society and the media sends to women, starting at a very young age, that physical image is the key to success and longevity in love and career. Many times I have looked in the mirror and sighed at the definite signs of aging I have begun to see. I think of the female celebs who always look so young and beautiful. (Funny, how many of the male celbs a...more

Damn you Jane Porter. You’re incredibly talented, as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside, and your contemporary fiction always makes me cry! You are brilliant in every way and I love you.

I just finished reading Easy On The Eyes by Jane Porter and I’m sitting here sniffing and wiping the tears off my face. Her books never cease to touch my heart and to make me cheer for their complex, strong...more

No, it's not a post about me, you sillies, but thanks for the compliment! It's about a great new book from Jane Porter, Easy on the Eyes! I read this book in 2 days, as did my mom, and we both really enjoyed it. Packaged as a chick lit novel, it is the story of a woman facing the past events in her life that have made her the woman she is today, and getting past them.
Gorgeous Tiana Tomlinson has a fabulous career as a journalist and the anchor of America Tonight, a daily news magazine show. She...more

I wasn't sure about EASY ON THE EYES when I first started reading it. Tiana Tomlinson is a 38 year old TV show host. Her career is centered around being young and beautiful and she finds herself in the position of being too old comparatively for her job. But she'll do whatever it takes to show her network and the people that she's more than just her face and that real news matters to viewers too. And in the process she finds her true self and a second chance at love.

I enjoyed this book. I would...more

"easy on the eyes" by Jane Porter is another amazing story told in an engaging voice. Jane's books always feel like you're sitting in a room chatting with friends, even if the world your friend lives in is something you've never experienced.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the first half of the book was a little slowly paced and each of Tiana's angsts and sorrows were all repeated one time too many. However, the second half of the book is where the power and depth of Jane's...more

Initially when I first heard about Ms. Porter latest novel, Easy on the Eyes, I had no idea it would feature a character I first read about in Odd Mom Out. For those of you who are familiar with this book, Tiana is one of Marta’s best friends. I absolutely loved Odd Mom Out and was excited to read more about these characters (and yes, Marta does appear in this book and it’s great to learn what she has been up to!).

I immediately liked Tiana. She’s very talented and smart and yes, quite b...more

As I said, in my one and only update while reading this book, Porter never fails to deliver an entertaining read. At least not in my opinion.

I will admit that I was fortunate to start her books off with "Odd Mom Out". While I've enjoyed all of her books that I've managed to get my hands on, "Odd Mom Out" spoke to me in a way that her other stories haven't been able to.

I've enjoyed all of her books, but "Odd Mom Out" was my favorite. It was if that character was written about me. (Except I'm no...more

I have to say I really liked this book much more than I thought I would. I like Jane Porter and have read some of her other books but in my opinion this is her best one to date. The cover and her previous books led me to believe that this would be a somewhat typical chick-lit novel but it was surprisingly touching and poignant and I found myself thinking about it for a long time after I finished it, which is usually an indication of how much I loved a book. There was a small amount of bad langua...more

Easy on the Eyes by Jane Porter
Another great read from Jane about an almost 40 year old woman that has gone through a marriage and is now a widow and spends 100% of her time
devoted to her TV entertainment news program. Problem is the younger woman in her 20's that she trained now wants her job and the company wants to
give it to her. She finds out some information about lipo surgery, face lifts, etc and knows it's just not for her but she might have to go that route
to keep her job. She makes som...more

Loved this book. Maybe because I spent 10 years in Africa doing ministry work. I lived in South Africa for part of that time and the leading character was from SA. Maybe because I lost my mother at a young age and so did the leading character. Maybe because I had disfiguring surgery repeatedly and could relate to the opinions of others about beauty. Or maybe because it was just a good book. This book is part of a series. Which I discovered at a late date, and I think it would help to read the bo...more

My grade: A-. I had a hard time deciding between an A- and a B+ on this one. This is a wonderful book. It touched my soul. Okay, I just changed by grade from B+ to A-. Any book that touches your soul should rate an A, don't you think? I guess this book is categorized as women's fiction or chiclit. There's a romance, but the romance isn't the main focus of the book. Tia is. Tia, who anchors a popular celebrity news show is still uncertain about where she's going with her life. She yearns--yearns...more

I love it love it love it. I have to say, I picked it up on Monday and now I'm done (that's with my multiple book reading ADHD behaviors)! It was a great read. Whenever I read Jane's books, they make me feel something, which says a lot since I do read a lot of fluff where I'm just passing time. I felt that this book had a lot of great lessons for us women--no matter what the age is. I won't add any spoilers, but I have to say that it made me look in the mirror and smile at my (gasp!) tiny little...more

Okay - I obviously gave this book a 5.0/5.0 rating so you know I love it. I just really enjoyed every moment of this book.

First it applies to the time of life I am at - Tiana is 38, I am 35. Now, that doesn't mean younger or older women shouldn't read this book, because I personally feel that even in it's fictional writing, there is something for every woman to take away from this book.

Tiana is a TV personality, America's Sweetheart, but she's starting to age and the ratings are starting to fall...more

Tiana Tomlinson has just about everything ... looks, fame, money ... but the one thing that she doesn't have is her late husband. In a business where youth prevails Tiana finds her career in jeopardy of being shared with a co-host who is 10 years her junior. This is a wonderful book about dealing with the stresses of age in a world where being young and beautiful are the keys to fame and success. Kudos to Jane Porter for writing a wonderfully scripted book that women in their late 30's can relat...more

I was given this book in my goody bag at a writer's conference and have since become a fan. Jane Porter writes books that real women can relate to. The heroine in this book is glamorous and works in television but she is still a woman that readers can identify with. Her dilemmas (about her looks, her job, her love life and her weight) are also our dilemmas. I have also read a small part of 'She's Gone Country' and am keen to read the whole thing.

Living life in the spotlight is great, or so it seems. But, when the aging, top rated entertainment reporter, Tiana, has her job threatened by the younger reporter, she is forced to see her life in a different light. She decides to do a different type of story and heads to Zambia to do a documentary. She meets the handsome plastic surgeon who changes her life. As with all of Jane Porter's books, this is one you just don't want to put down.

Fun read. Jane has the ability to weave emotion in with fun & snark, a quality I try to do in my own writing. I admire her skills. Easy on the Eyes was a good read, though I reccomend starting this "series" with Odd Mom Out, then moving on to Mrs. Perfect, and so on and so forth. Jane's books are meant to be read in a certain order, though they are single titles.
Nicole
The first third read like a public service announcement about plastic surgery; then the story really took off in a different direction and I was completely hooked. Touches on a lot of topics you don't usually see in romance/light reading.

Had a bit of an issue with all the "38 is old" panic as I don't feel all that old at 37.
Allie Smith
Different than Odd Mom Out and Mrs. Perfect...set in Hollywood & Africa, but still a page turner. Loved Tiana and the stuff about her mom made me cry.

The theme of aging hit close to home! Tiana, being in the spotlight and in front of the camera, was under pressure to have plastic surgery. She didn't want to, because she was afarid she wouldn't look like her mom anymore. I lost my mom when I was young, so I can totally relate. It was a connection, one she wasn't willing to loose.

The book has...more

I enjoyed this book very much. It was particularly engaging because--even though it is a stand-along story--there are some characters who also appear in Porter's other books.

Porter's depth of understanding of the human spirit is enhanced by the ability to stay down-to-earth in the storytelling.

This was a good book about healing and finding a way to come out on top even when things weren't going your way. The main character had some things that were out of her control and found a way to take charge of her life. It was a good read for where I am in my life right now.
Melissa Caldwell
This book was very good! I liked it and as a woman nearing *gasp* 30 I can relate to the main character's situation in a way. I'm not giving this book a full 5 stars because at times it could get a bit preachy about some of the issues Tiana (main character) is passionate about, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
Misty
I wasn't sure I wanted to read this book until reading the reviews. I could've done with just a little less focus on Tiana's tragedies, but her strength and convictions were appealing. Plus, a happy ending never hurts! An easy, quick read.
Allison
A surprisingly deep look at inner and outer beauty, aging, and Hollywood. I could not put it down and read it straight through. I did have to suspend belief a little at the incredible tragedies that the main character had to go through.
Ginny
I love the spin off of characters from previous books. I enjoyed this book.was deeper than I thought it would be. Easy read too..I hate when I have to try and figure out who was who. Jim off to start another of James books!
Michelle
I'm shocked that I enjoyed this story. Who knows why I'm so surprised, but I didn't expect to read such complex, likable characters. I sure as heck didn't expect to be reduced to tears at any point of the plot.
Debra
I enjoyed the detail about what the daily life of a television show host might be like, and it was well written. Overall I cared about the main character but noticed that sometimes she got a bit whiny. It could be a little much, but these episodes led her to where she needed to get in order to change her life. I would recommend this book.
Allison
Entertaining, quick read. I thought this was going to be a cheezy romance novel at first, but there was some unexpected depth there, and I found myself wanting more when I finished.
Nicole
Liked this book! I picked it up since the author is a friend of my sister's. I have read two of her other books and have enjoyed them as well. I still think Flirting with Forty is my favorite so far.
Lisa
hmmm A very different book that i'm used to. Took me a while to get into it because of that i think but by the end i was swayed and decided i really liked it alot. Very emotional book. Worth reading.

Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.

As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endi...more
