Recommends it for: those who like Canadian fiction
This wonderful collection of excerpts from the first 15 years of the Giller Prize was a trip down memory lane. Surprisingly, in totting it all up, I had already read seven of the previous winning books. Of the works included, I only took a strong distaste to "Cockroach" by Ravi Hage (one of the 2008 nominees). Favorites include the two Alice Munro entries, as well as the quite simply touching introduction by the founder of the Giller, Jack Rabinovitch. We, as Canadians, have much to thank this m ...more
