I was so happy to find this at the library! I was even more happy to see how thrilled Julia was to find it! Since I reread this only a few weeks ago and had mentioned the book to her she remembered and I was able to keep the talk going. I'm saving a copy of the adult Black Beauty for when she's old enough and I can only hope she enjoys it like I did. I truly believe this is a very meaningful story and I'm so happy that Sharon Lerner must agree and must think it's important for the story to be in ...more

Yaya: I wish that Black Beauty was real, because it is a so nice horse, I wish that I could make him young again. It the story, there's a man that make him young, he has a little boy that asked that man to make him young again. They take really really good care of him. And he also asked to buy him, so then the man bought him.

Chloe: Poor Black Beauty. He got broken knees because of a drunk man who hurted him. He hurt his paws and his knees because he fell. The man died. So the owners got mad at

We haven't read the original story, Black Beauty yet, but our youngest has read a couple of shorter adaptations of the story. She absolutely loves horses and loves this tale.

This is a nice picture-book version of the story. It is very abbreviated, but covers the general gist of the original book. The illustrations are wonderful and we really loved the horses. We really enjoyed reading this book together.

I thought that that this book is for peple who are horse lovers and like classic books. This book is about a horse that was bon in a time peiod of a long time ago and he i being put in diffrent jobs for him to do he gets nice caring owners that don't work or push him to far. And hs has masters that are the kind that excpet their horse to do everything they want it to do and don't rally care what haappens to it they jut want it to d what they askedit to do.
This book I would recommend for pele wh

I bought this book, not for the story, but for the illustrations. The story is GREATLY condensed, and I guess it's good for the younger children, to introduce them to the story of Black Beauty. However, it is the illustrations that make this book. I have several children's books illustrated by Susan Jeffers and am not disappointed in any of them, judging the art work alone. And, she definitely is an artist. Beautiful!!!

This book by Anna is a fun and adventures. This book is about a horse who finds lots of troubles in his life and in the life of other people or horses. The conflicts are character vs. character or like in this book human vs. animal. There is also a hint of character vs. nature that is the focus of the climax.
I recommend this book who would like to read a story from a horse point of view. Its my personal favorite.
Sally Leung
The autobiography of the horse gives us the horse's perspective of his treatment by different owners in different time. I feel happy when she has a good owner; this happy period usually doesn't last forever.

This picture book abridgement conveys the essence of the story nicely, and Jeffers pictures never disappoint.
