November 2011: I was looking for something light-hearted to read today and this was the perfect fit. A fun read with a little romance thrown in.
August 2009: So, the first chapter was probably the funniest I’ve read in a long time. Rallison is the queen of coming up with and writing awkward situations. She probably topped the first chapter with the second to last chapter, in which I was literally laughing out loud. This was a fun story, I’m not much of a “drama” person, but I really More...

I read "Fame, glory, and other things on my to do list." Janette Rallison wrote this book beacause some peolpe want fame and glory. They just think that they don't know how. Janette tells them how in this book. It's also kind of like a love story too. I like it cause it tells me that if you love someone you should stay with them. It also tells me that you can get fame by acting, singing, and many other things.
This book is about this new guy that moves to Three Forks, Ne More...

This book is surprisingly LOL funny in the closing sequence. And the main character is a likeable PRETTY girl, which you don't see very often in YA lit. I would highly recommend this book for Brynn (even though it is just another boyfriend/girlfriend plot). Janette Rallison is an LDS author, so it is perfectly teen-appropriate.

Jessica wants more than anything to be an actress, so when she meets Jordan and finds out his father is a famous actor, her mind stars spinning. The problem is: she's not supposed to let anyone know about Jordan's father, but when the drama teacher threatens to cancel the fall play, it slips out.
As things like this do, soon the whole school knows the 'secret.' And just as Jordan and Jessica are becoming a couple, he finds out--end of relationship.

I'm still not sure if this is a 3 star or 4 star book...
I like Janette Rallison's books, but she does have the annoying habit of putting her characters in the most embarressing and unbelievable situations possible. This book is not big at all, but it literally took me a week to read because I had to keep putting it down because I couldn't believe what was happening to the main character, Jessica. I don't know if I just felt so bad for Jessica, or if I just couldn't believe how many More...

This book is about a sixteen year old Jessica who dreams that she will become an actress. She then meets Jordan who is the son of a famous actor. To impress Jordan's father Jordan askes Jessica to help him with acting. They soon join in the Romeo and Juliet play.
A text-to-self connection is that both me and Jessica dream to be famous and a star someday. Also that I'm a drama queen like her and we both want to act. I like to dream all the time about when I will be famous and ho More...

Jessica accidentally got into Jordan's identical car on the Wal-Mart parking lot, and he immediately took a liking to her (and for some strange reason, he wants to borrow her car but won't tell why). When Jessica finds out his father is the famous Christopher Hunter, Jessica decided that if she would get his dad to attend the school play and he would notice her wonderful talent and he would open the doors for her to Hollywood. The only way she could come up with to get him to come was for Jordan

This book gets 4 stars because it made me laugh out loud continuously for probably 8 Metro stops straight. And it features a Honda Civic that doesn't always start, just like mine! Except that mine does now and had better for ever after because I paid a lot of money for a new ignition coil thingy.
The Civic's owner is Jessica, a high school junior who works at Wal-Mart but dreams of Hollywood stardom. After work one evening, she meets Jordan, who owns a silver Civic like hers (but his wo More...

Jessica is going to be an actress when she grows up. . .so when Christopher Hunter's son moves to her little speck of a town it should be some of the best news she has gotten in a long time!
Unfortunately the fact that she sort of accused him of trying to steal her car puts a damper on their relationship.
What happens when you combine West Side Story, an anti-violent/gang friend, an evil drama teacher and a terrible marriage/divorce? Read it and find out. . . More...

Oh my goodness, if I had ever seen Westside Story performed the way it went down in this novel, I think I actually would have liked it (to be fair, I do like the parts in the movie where the gangs are singing, fighting, and snapping at the same time--just not much of the rest of it). I laughed and laughed and laughed--out loud, irresistibly. Ah, if only my high school experience had involved anything quite so wonderfully ridiculous. *Sigh.*

All I can say is, it was pretty good. I don't remember it that much, but i remember hiding behind the massage chair in the living room to finish reading before bed time, which is always a good sign. I also remember flipping out from excitedness over something the character did (i can't remember what), so with these small memories, and the fact that it's by Janette Rallison, It's safe to say this this book must've been good.

This was definitely not my favorite Rallison book. I didn't like that the guy and the girl liked each other so fast, broke up so fast, and then spent much longer not talking. Then after they got over their fight, they were in love and they hardly knew each other before! Plus, there was a little too much high school drama without enough of the funny writing that I like

This was a completely delightful, hysterical story. I loved the first chapter so much, I read it aloud to my husband, and he laughed his head off. Rallison has a way with words and with capturing the unique teenage girl's voice. I highly recommend this book and fully plan to buy a full set of all Rallison's books when my daughter reaches that reading level.

Basic plot:
Girl meets hot new Guy in an embarrassing way. Girl keeps saying how she finds Guy annoying, but still goes to the mall with him and things. Girl tries to set Guy up with Friend, but meanwhile Guy is really falling for Girl. Girl lets it slip that Guy is son of Hot Movie Star. Guy is Deeply Wounded because she ruined his adopted "normal life" in a small town (but how can you be normal in a place named "Three Forks"?), and Guy won't speak to Girl though their More...

I just love this author! It is rare to find an author that everytime you read her books you LITERALLY laugh out loud. She is so funny. The first moments of this book were so good. The last few chapters however I was laughing so hard my kids were looking at me like I was insane.

i read this in one afternoon - i didn't intend for it to be that way but i couldn't put it down. i laughed so hard i cried. it was fun, insightful and entertaining. Janette Rallison has a real way of creating teen characters who seem to live at my house or in my neighborhood - they are so real and believable. i've shared this with several moms and teens.

Laughed out loud again! The thing I love about Janette's books is that everything that happens in them could have happened to you! I love the characters and how they often make mistakes but always for the right reasons! I heard my daughter laughing in bed last night and knew that she had snuck the book and was reading by flashlight!!! (I was right) :)

I've had two extremes of books this week...one that made me bawl and one that made me laugh out loud till I was crying. This is a book about Jessica, a teenage girl and all the problems that go along with it, but Jessica had a few extra problems because she was so ditzy. Anyway, haven't read a book that made me laugh in quite awhile...loved it.

(Genre: Teen fiction) Fun story about a 17 year old girl (Jessica) who wants to be an professional actress/star someday and the new boy that moves to town that is the son of a real movie star.
I always enjoy Janette Rallison's sense of humor and all the embarrassing things that happen to her characters. The teen years seem to be full of those embarrassing moments and she is good at keeping thing light and funny.

I like Janette Rallison's books because they are fun, easy reads and they always have a romance :) They are always clean too. You can sit down and read it in one night as well. Good books for vacation. This one wasn't my favorite by her, but still enjoyable.

This book was one I've read and reread many times. Janette Rallison had done it again. She wrote a hilarious love story that kept you reading until you were done with the whole thing, front to cover. All of my friends love this book and I love it to. I HIGHLY recommend it to middle schoolers.

This was a light entertaining read with some ridiculous and hilarious scenes - a real laugh at high school life and human beings' sycophnatic tendencies.
I like this book. Ralliston's later work such as My Fair Godmother has more depth.

Similar to Life, Love and the Pursuit of Free Throws, this is a fun, clean romance for teen girls. Nothing deep or profound, but still it points out some of the sticky situations we can get into if we're not honest with ourselves or others.

I had a hard time really getting into this book as much as her others. It seemed to be progressing slowly, but maybe that was due to my mood. I loved the play at the end though. So funny. "West Side Story" was never so laughable.

Very usual high school book, with the normal everyday embarrassing moments. But the last couple chapters were hilarious! I read them out loud to Dave and we were laughing so hard. What tops the whole book is that in the back there were a whole bunch of doodled hearts that had "I luv keno" written in them. It just made the whole experience. I love young adult books!
