I read it to get more insight into one of my favorite musicals, Damn Yankees. However, I found that the plot of Damn Yankees is a lot more enjoyable and a lot funnier. I recommend that fans of this book check out the musical version.

This was another "Devil makes a bargain" book and it's pulled off beautifully. It's a great read for baseball fans. The plot is extraordinary and the character development is beyond expectation. Loved this novel. Although between The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant and It Happens Every Spring, if I could only pick one of the two, I'd choose It Happens Every Spring. Still, they both earn a 5 in my opinion.

A very nicely paced, witty book. Definitely reminded me of movies from around that time period. And being one of the baseball fans that view the Yankees as the "Evil Empire" I enjoyed the ending.

Good read, fast. If you like sports, clever plot twists and/or hate the Yankees this is a good one for a summer read.
