Heat Seeker (Elite Ops #3)
by
Lora Leigh
John Vincent has always led a life of danger, and now he has every reason to want to remain as dead as the obituary in the Australian papers had proclaimed him to be. He’d left nothing behind in the life he had once led—except for one woman, and one night of unforgettable passion. Now, both will return to haunt him…

I’m a big fan of Leigh’s Elite Ops series and its predecessor Tempting SEALs series, so I’ve been waiting excitedly for this one and had high expectations, and for the most part it delivered, although I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Wild Card or Maverick.
Heat Seeker is the third book in the Elite Ops series, and although this one could be read as a stand-alone novel, I would recommend reading the previous books (and in order) since there is an ongoing story arc an...more

Opening Line; "It was a world Baily hadn't expected to ever enter again."
Jeez, what a struggle it was to finish this one. I was determined though, despite warnings from other reviewers but also because I was such a fan of Lora Leigh’s previous Elite-Ops/Tempting Seals books. I felt confident that I’d be able to see through the anticipated bad editing and ‘soul’ searing sex scenes, I’d just suspend belief for a couple of days and enjoy another great addition to the series…

Found this at my library, otherwise I probably would never have read it. It just didn't work for me. Lots of graphic sex but not much else.
I'm going to try to be fair about this, but this had to be one of the most confusing, disappointing, boring, and poorly edited Lora Leigh books of all time. If it weren't for my obsession to find out just who the traitor "Warbucks" was (and what kind of name is that for a bad-guy? I kept imagining "Daddy" Warbucks...), and to read about the hot reunion romance between the H/h (Jonh/Trent and Bailey), I would've ditched this one after a couple of confusing chapters. Whether it was the enormous ca...more

Yowza - this is one HAWT author! Her love scenes are NOT for the faint of heart. But I LOVED this book. The plot twists are twisted - the villains are evil in a very disturbing way - but the greater the evil the greater the power for good to shine! The better for a hero to be truly heroic.
Bailey SAW her lover Trent die - only to run into a man named John who seems SO familiar she thinks she's losing her mind. Is John Trent? If he is, why did he leave her & break her heart? No word, no nothi...more

The Elite Ops series continues with Heat Seeker, which stars Australian agent John Vincent and former CIA operative Bailey Serborne, who we met in the last book. After being put through the emotional blender with the last book, this one was a nice change, and Bailey is probably my favorite of the heroines in this series so far. She's sharp, clever, funny, and has some serious brass balls, which are all characteristics I enjoy in a heroine.
John Vincent, on the other hand, is another reborn soldie...more
i liked this one more than maverick less than wild card. The heroine was stronger than we have seen in this series. not at all the damsel in distress. though she did remind me a little too much of how they originally played out Kira in Killer Secrets.
i am a complete sucker for the scenes al a wild card where the woman realizes this new man is the man she loved years ago. the romance in this one was great. it was there from second one and since our heroine was not only a smart cookie but dealt w...more

This couple had a good lead in, in the last book. I really liked the main characters and the story was interesting and complex. The only problem I have with the series so far is the repetitiveness of the references to not falling in love and having to leave when the op is done because they are not suppose to be the people they are and not suppose to have a life. Clearly they are not leaving when the op is done and they are not staying uninvolved at this point so lets see something different. I s...more
Unfortunately I can only give this 2 stars - I wish I could give it more. I'm am so disappointed with it!
I have totally loved all of the Tempting SEALs and Elite Ops books up until now, but I just can't ignore typo's and random characters appearing at the end that had obviously been edited out at some point. The story itself wasn't too bad and I was hooked until about half way, but the overwhelming cast of characers on top of the usual problem of repetative phrases have done me in.

Trent Daylen was an Australian Intelligence agent, he was working in a joint operation with the USA CIA. The CIA agent was Bailey Serborne and he was mightily attracted to her, so when the mission ended they shared an unforgettable night together. The same night Trent 'died' and John Vincent was re-born in his place.
Bayley has never one man, and the one night she shared with him before he died and left her alone and aching for the only man she could ever love. Now John Vincent is confusing her,...more

Wow... I needed a notepad/pen going into this book. There were so many people introduced with multiple names that I really should have written them down. I still can't even figure out who one of the characters is, Jules?? I think I need to look back or I missed something.
I was quite intrigued by the story overall and definitely had fun coming up with my own theories (which some were correct). I must admit that the story was a little slow and confusing at times with all the people. Was there sex...more

I really enjoyed this book but I have to say that there is such a thing as too many sex scenes. By the fourth scene I found my mind wandering and thinking about how to unblock the kitchen sink and whether a plumber was needed.
Don't get me wrong these books are great but halfway through the book the main characters seem to have decided they adore each other and can never leave each other. Yay for them but then for the second half of the book they seemed to remind me of this fact over and over ag...more

I don't like it as much as I do Maverick for a few reasons but before I go into that, I just want to say kudos to LL for starting the book with what she writes best: sex. Hot sex <3
1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the whole timeline of the event that takes place in the story is wrong: It should be SIX years later after Trent 'died' and not FIVE.
2. The case is not interesting at all, unlike the Whore's Dust case in Maverick. Terrorism/patriotism and upscale society politics are 'Meh.'

This was a pretty good story to continue and interesting series. I will agree with some previous reviews that there was a bit of plot sampling from previous in the series, but that's what all authors do to bring in chains. Also there were a lot of "coincidences" but i have a feeling those were intended to show that in covert agencies things are almost always linked in one way or another, which i don't find so hard to believe. I too was a little confused as to why Bailey was calling her friend Ma...more

This was a good read - sensual and erotic as we have come to expect
from LL - fast paced with lots of adventure although I thought the
actual plot itself was very complicated and did not seem to have
that wow - world threatening awe moment - it sort of just panned along
with a war of words mainly.
Why most of the characters seemingly had to die and be re-born was a
bit beyond me and maybe I missed the part where John Vincent did
actually declare in his former life he had been the Australian Trent!!

I give this book a 5 for the sex and and 3 for the story.
The relationship between John Vincent and Bailey Serborne was good but the story line I found hard to keep up with as it had too many layers. I want to ask too many questions about it as well.

I'm not sure if I would give this a 3 1/2 stars or a 4 star rating. It was not one of LL best books, however I did enjoy it. The dead man walking theme is getting a bit old to me. The book had HOT sex scenes however it seemed everytime they had sex, it was the best that they ever had. To me there was one LOVE scene in the book and it was very touching, it brought tears to my eye's. The bad guy in this book was a secret to the end, however I had a feeling who it was from the moment he entered the...more
I'd say that this was closer to a 3.5 than a 3 but there were a few issues that I couldnt quite get past. It's classic Lora Leigh - so I don't have any of the complaints that I read sometimes from other readers. I know what I'm getting when I pick up one of her books and that's why I read them.
My issue was that there were aspects of this story that were never resolved and they held such promise that it was a pretty big let down when they weren't addressed. I liked John - I even mostly liked Bail...more

This was a good book, but it was almost too long. The intrigue and mystery about who was who and who was the bad guy was drawn out waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I spent the majority of the time I was reading trying to keep track of everyone and basically being confused. I don't think it was such a stretch to believe who Warbucks really was since all of the signs pointed away from everyone they suspected. Bailey & John's romance really took a backseat to the suspense plot, aside from some spur...more
OK read - far and away not her best book in this series. As one of the reviewers pointed out almost everyone has an OLD name [from before they joined:], a NEW name [after they joined:], a nickname [at least one:], and a PERSONA name for their current role... I sometimes felt like I needed a score card. And the plot folded so many times I thought it was origami.
Which is not to say it awful - just not the page turner we expect from Lora Leigh. I still buy the next one of course!

John Vincent has been proclaimed dead by all those who knew him. Now he has a new life, as a member of a elite ops, where all members on the team are dead to the world and new people. In John's previous life he met the beautiful and sensual Bailey Serborne, who mixed up his emotions, and was the one thing he truly regretted hurting as a effect of his previous "fake" death. Bailey Serborne, is our for revenge for the death of her family, then she meets John Vincent who is so alike to a man she on...more
I'm happy to report that I finally finished Heat Seeker. Sorry, Lora Leigh lovers, but this was a chore. What to say about it? For one thing, it could easily have been at least 50 pages shorter if she hadn't persistently stated over and over how much Bailey hated the high society life her family and friends engaged in, and how pointless it was, and how she couldn't understand how her wonderful mother could enjoy that life, and, and, and...

Lora Leigh! Love her writing -- but this story, which had the bones of a great one, was a struggle for me to get through. Around half way through, I started skipping the hot love scenes (what? that's just not like me!) because there just wasn't enough other content between the scenes to keep the story going. And, my goodness! The editing was so poorly done that different character names (Jules! Mary! Jules! Mary!) for the SAME person were sometimes used multiple times on the SAME page even. I ga...more
