In this heat wave, anything and everything goes. A Red-Hot Summer story. Shelby Harper has lusted over Navy SEAL John Garrett for over a year, but no matter how many sexy signals she sends out, the man shows a complete lack of interest in getting naked. Then she overhears Garrett talking to his SEAL teammate--a discussion in which they conclude she's vanilla. Stung, Shelby...more

I'm not a fan of ménage plot lines, but I ended up liking this novella more than I thought I would. I will, however, admit to skimming the one ménage scene. Other than that, Heat of the Moment is a good, steamy, and sexy read. I can't wait to start the second book.

In the mood for a very short (54 pages), but super hot menage story about a couple of Navy SEALs and a sweet, yet sexy girl-next-door- type cafe owner?

"Heat of the Moment" is a smokin' hot little story about cafe/bakery owner Shelby Harper and rugged Navy SEAL John Garrett. Garrett (as he likes to be called) and Shelby have been friends for about a year, and even though Shelby would like it to be more, apparently Garrett sees her as only a 'friend', and nothing else. Even though she's flirted an...more

I took Auntee's advice and picked up "Heat of the Moment" by Elle Kennedy. WOW, like my hot flashes needed any ignition! But if you're somewhere cold, might I suggest this little nugget for under $3 will heat you up and keep you toasty any time you remember it.

She's got the all-American golden California girl looks, including freckles, and she runs a bakery near the naval base. He's a SEAL with a history of loving and leaving. She's getting over a former relationship with a Marine who cheated. H...more

Quick sexy story. With only being around 70 pages (kindle version finishes around 78%) there's not a lot that can happen. Even though I didn't get a lot of time to know Garrett and Shelby, I liked them enough to be happy they got together.

Ice and tequila always make for interesting times...

Nice intro to Carson here, whose book is next I believe.

Solid and enjoyable read. Strong writing and sexy times. 3 stars just because it wasn't long enough to really engage me with t...more

Heat of the Moment is the first book in the Out of Uniform series by author Elle Kennedy.

If you are looking for a full length novel, look elsewhere. This novella is just that -- a short story. It comes in at 78 pages according to Amazon and I want to mention that it is even shorter than that since the last 10 percent maybe of the book is previews for other stories.

This is a sexy and short M/F/M menage read. The main couple is John Garrett and Shelby Harper with the third person involved is Car...more

Shelby Harper has had a huge crush on Navy SEAL John Garrett for a year. She's flirted, asked him out to dinner, but nothing has worked. She has come to terms with the fact that he obviously just sees her as a friend, and nothing more.

John Garrett has had a huge crush on Shelby for a year. He's tried flirting, he has gone to her coffee shop for over a year buying fancy coffees he doesn't like, but she has never seemed interested.

One night during a heat wave, all the boys are in her shop watchin...more

After enjoying Feeling Hot so much, I went on a buying spree and picked up the previous 6 books in the series. They're pretty cheap so they only cost me about $13 in total. I gather that Heat of the Moment was originally published in an anthology. It's very short, at only 54 pages (the rest is excepts) so easy to read in one sitting. Because it's short, there's not much chance for character development - so as much fun as I had reading about Garrett and Shelby and their fun with Carson...more

Heat of the Moment is extremely short and extremely steamy. If you do not like graphic sexual scenes then stay away from this one.

The story itself was alright but most of the book revolved around three people having sex, still there was a romance and a little bit of depth but not that much, if I’m honest. The writing is good and I enjoyed the build-up to the hot stuff

I admired Shelby for going after what she wanted, I really liked her in the first half she w...more

Mini Review
This book really turns up the heat. If you can't handle or don't like books that involve sexual relations, then do not read this book. I really enjoyed this story, it was very interesting to read about. The romance part was pretty good, but I wish there was more. I know it's a novella, but I would have really liked to have seen more from it. There was more sexual aspects to the book than actual romance which I didn't like. Me having read book 2 first, book 2 had a lot more romance dev...more

For a dirty menage, this one is surprisingly vanilla. Other than some alternate kissing, and one man going down on her while the other sucks on her boobs - that's about how dirty it gets. Girl has fantasies about being taken by two men at once, but only gets to have sex with one man at a time. And even her second round, one man leaves before anything happens. I was expecting M/F/M, hoping for M/M/F, but got M/F+M/F - yeah. Boring. I guess I shouldn't expect anything more from the rest of the boo...more

Great start to the series! Met all the players to come in subsequent stories. I loved Shelby's take charge attitude to finally get Garret's attention but felt like we didn't get to see enough of Garret's personality beyond his past sexual exploits. I liked Carson more than Garret here because I felt like even in such a short story we got to know him better.

A short story about a woman who runs a cafe. She has been wanting to be with John Garrett but she thinks he only sees her as the girl next door. One day she overhears him talking about how she is "vanilla". So she decides to go with her fantasy and be with him and his best friend in a threesome to show that she is not so vanilla.

A hot quick read. I've always liked a story about love from afar. And Shelby lusting secretly after Garrett for over a year has taken its toll on her and made her quite the wanton. Wanton enough to invite Garrett plus his best friend into her bed.

I have to emphasize that I am not too stoke about the threesome bit.
Cyn Mistress Kitty
I really liked this way too short story. Actually, the only thing holding me back from giving it 5 stars is that it is too short.
The one and only scene of a threesome was hot. I am starting Carson's story now.
Are there any Navy SEAL's who are not smokin' hot? Gotta love a man in a uniform.

4.5 stars is more like it, but you know how Goodreads operates.

I loved Garrett and Shelby together. I could feel the sexual chemistry wafting off the screen of my kindle. They have been dancing around their attraction to each other for a little over a year and in one bold move, they take it to the next level. Add sexy Carson to the mix and delicious naughty times ensue. Having read this series back to back, Garrett & Shelby are my favorites and I find myself rereading this novella in partic...more

This really wasn't a true menage, but it was definitely hot. I wish it had been longer. There wasn't a great deal of character development...I didn't expect much with a short story, but the second one seemed to get it done whereas this one didn't. Still a hot toasty read though.
Bri
This was a good start to the series, even though I'd actually started with a different book. I liked both Garrett and Shelby, and for those looking for something a little more...ahem...naughty, I think you'll enjoy the intro to sexytimes in this book.
Melindeeloo
I am pretty much a one on one romance kind of reader, but for a threesome this wasn't too bad - number three isn't around for long and the remaining two don't miss him at all.
figuranta
i loved it it as sexy, hot and romantic who would thought that SEAL guy can be romantic.the only bad thing bout this book is that was to short.
Amy
Short ... I read book 7 first and went back to read the others but they were shorter than I like. Good stories though. Love those SEAL stories.
Scooper Speaks
Very short. Started on my nook on page 6 and ended on page 51. The story is more sex than plot or character or relationship building.
Shelley
A sweet erotic novella. It actually felt more like a love story, than an erotic story. Forty minutes of my time well spent.
Lisazj1
Hhmmm. This is just what it says it is. Lots of porn with little-to-no plot. But the heat wasn't all that steamy, frankly.
Rachel
a quick short read with really nice characters, and hot. I would have been better if it were longer.

I kept thinking it was the start to something.

My first e-reader read.
JR Hagy
It was ok. The 2nd book in the series was much better. It felt like there were a lot of missed opportunities with this book.
Heather
The books in this series are very short, almost novella size, and have almost no plot. I was a little disappointed. At least the lemons are hot.
Mitzi
This is a very good series.....just wish they were longer!!! Hot, Fun, and Very Entertaining.
