C. Michael
It's hard to select three plays to represent Irish drama, but these three are a reasonable introduction if one is needed. Neither the selection by Yeats or that by O'Casey is unarguably the writer's best work, but neither is it insignificant or unrepresentative. The introduction to the volume is a useful brief introduction to Irish theater in general (if now dated in the older editions of this volume) and the introductions to each play are likewise useful, interesting, and not overly lengthy.
