I've assigned this before when I used to teach college-level grammar classes to accompany the typical textbook/handbook. While the handbook usually dealt with grammatical concepts alone, this book takes those concepts and shows them at work, from basic sentence structure to composing paragraphs. The running theme here is style (as the title suggests) with the intent on helping students breathe life into their writing by engaging samples of good writing (and grammar) at work.

A nice handbook (complete with definitions and exercizes!), but one that focuses on effects and context a little more than most handbooks. Essays in the back to read to consider style and implications (and which are the sources of the exercises).
