CJ, Clair and the girls (and Puddlenose!) are back for more adventures! Some thing is going very wrong in Mearsies Heili; for one, a new foe has appeared and for two, this new foe has a secret weapon the Gang thought was only their's, imagination! So I really wish I could give this book three and a half stars, as just for the world building and

The CJ books by Sherwood Smith are just good fun. I've been following Sartiorias-Deles for awhile (I read Crown Duel as a teen, and as an adult have gobbled up as many books in the world as I can). What makes the CJ books so interesting is this weird intersection of children's lit and adult appreciation. The books are definitely, definitely geared for a younger audience -- CJ is an unabashed kid, rejoicing in her youth, disdaining any "mush" that comes with teen development, and keeping adults a ...more

I am a writer, but I'm here on Goodreads to talk about books, as I've been a passionate reader as long as I've been a writer--since early childhood.

I'm not going to rate books--there are too many variables. I'd rather talk about the reading experience. My 'reviews' of my books are confined to the writing process.
