4 ½ stars – Romantic Suspense
Dan Gallagher, the number two in command of the Bullet Catchers, a company comprised of elite, best of the best bodyguards, is one of the most intriguing and likable characters of the series, and we finally get his story in Hunt Her Down. The ex-FBI man is a notorious playboy, happily using women as a means to an end on assignments when necessary, an outrageous flirt, easygoing, and never seems to take anything too seriously, yet there’s always been some...more

Dan Gallagher got his life settled and I was thankful for it. I believe Dan's character has been in all or most of the previous Bullet Catcher books, so it was definitely time. Since he was so adamant about never settling down or having kids, his character had to either eat a lot of words or go back to the past. He did the latter. Hunt Her Down was a book about rekindled young love. Fate. Superstitions.

Sexy widowed heroine is shocked to find out that the guy she met at her bar & who she almost had a 1-night-stand with is her supposedly-dead lover from the past, when she was involved with her mafia-type boyfriend. She felt betrayed when she realized that he was working undercover for FBI when they were have their secret affair & never got to tell him that she got pregnant with his son. Fourteen years later, she's not sure if he's only sexually involved with her or if there's more to their rela...more
This is my first book by this author, and I am now a fan. For the most part, I am not a fan of romantic suspense because so much of it seems contrived and cliched. The only other author I really love in that genre is Shannon McKenna. St. Claire does not follow any of the cliches, which I love.
The hero and heroine have a great, balanced relationship. Her hero is strong without being a caveman. He is smart, adaptable, and a team player rather than the typical alpha control freak. Her ...more

Dan seeks out a past (forbidden) love and finds out he left her pregnant with his child 14 years ago. No doubt, because the young man looks just like Dan at that age. The plot involves Dan & Maggie's past when she was the girfriend of a drug lord and Dan was the undercover DEA agent who seduced Maggie for information and sent the drug lord to jail. Now the druglord is free and looking for money he believes Maggie has. THe characters are well drawn, the plot believable, peripheral characters make...more
Haven't read a non-SF/fantasy/paranormal romance novel in a while. In a long while. This one is a romantic suspense with equal emphasis on the romantic and the suspense. I love that Maggie is not a TSTL (too stoopid to live) heroine. And I love that Dan doesn't treat her like a retarded bimbo. They work together for a common goal and the story/dialogue and character motivations are believable and well-written. I have ordered some of the other titles in this Bullet Catcher series (dumb name but w...more

Am I the only one who was actually rooting for a Dan/Lucy book? I think I would have much rather seen their dynamic as set up in some of the early trilogy (First You Run, Then You Hide) than to see Lucy with Jack (Now You Die), or Dan with Maggie in this book.
Maybe that was my difficulty with Hunt Her Down, but I just never felt the great pull towards Maggie. She's a good heroine, likable enough and a worthwhile character, but the plot for Dan and his background seemed too forced. Th...more

Man, I am so glad that Roxanne St. Claire has been writing and releasing Bullet Catchers book in threes fairly quickly! As usual, this story is rockin' and I fell in love with all her characters all over again.
Dan Gallagher has been Lucy's top go-to guy since the series started, but if you've read #8 you know that his (& her) status changed drastically. He begins this novel by taking a time-out from BC and heading to Florida to check on an informant from a very old case when Dan wa...more

If you love red hot romantic suspense, you'll enjoy this next installment of the Bullet Catchers. Maggie Varcek Smith was once the girlfriend of an drug dealer and a lover of an undercover Narc agent, Michael Scott, carrying a secret with her--his baby. Fourteen years later, Dan Gallagher arrives in Marathon Florida, when word of the drug dealer she helped put away is released. When Dan falls in love with Maggie again, he can't stay away from her, and finds out about Quinn, who might be in dang...more
I really loved this book. I loved the connection bewteen the two main characters. The scene in the shed was HOT! I loved the sexual buildup throughout the book. Overall just a good romance suspense read. The only problem I had was that I wanted to see more of how Quin handled the situation with Dan. It got brushed over too quick. Even after the danger died down, there was no real discussion.

This was more 3.5 stars because I just didn't take to Maggie or Dan. Both weren't attractive characters, unlike previous Bullet Catchers and their women.
The story moved along quickly but I found it too convoluted for what was, to me, an interesting-enough plot. I felt like I was being pulled in too many directions chasing after the fortune/fortunes.

This is the first I've read in the Bullet Catchers series, so I think I missed alot. It was a pretty predictable story - even the bad guy - but it was still fun to read. I think I'll go back and read the others in order.
I adore Roxanne St. Claire! Her books have the right amount of suspense and romance in them for me. She is truly one of the best! I read everything she writes and I've yet to feel disappointed in anything. Keep up the excellent work, Ms. St. Claire!
I was so glad this book was back to St. Claire's old self! It was Great!!
Was a little dispointed in the last book Lucy's story. But now can't wait for the next book in the Bullet Catcher Series!!

A 4.5 for Dan and Maggie. Dan has been one of my favorite characters during this series. RSC almost saved the best for last.
The best of the best of the "Bullet Catcher" series! Love Dan and his story did not disappoint!
Good read... The plot was engaging with a bit of a twist with the villian.

Another good addition to this series. Dan Gallagher's story at last!
One of my favs in the series..love him:)
The best of the Series
WONDERFUL
This is one of the better ones of the series. I have always liked Dan and had hopes of him and Lucy ending up together until the last book and realized she is much better with Jack. I liked how Dan's past has come back to bite him in the butt and then some. Maggie was more than a match for Dan. I also loved to see familiar faces from previous books show up. The crime was fairly predictable and I knew who the leak was right away, but the book was still a fun read.
So glad Dan didn't end up w/ Lucy.
Not my thing, I like action and adventure with a bit of thrill and romance, but this book was so busy with sex that it was hard to keep reading without wondering where they found the time to get it on all the time. I guess I would be too busy to stop and have sex every time someone tried to kill me.
It is a series, but I think I will skip the rest unless I really feel the need to run for my life and I really do have time to have sex along the way.

OK, now I have to get all of these... really great read!
This is my favorite of the Bullet Catchers series. I'm a sucker for love the second time around stories.
