4 ½ stars – Romantic Suspense

Dan Gallagher, the number two in command of the Bullet Catchers, a company comprised of elite, best of the best bodyguards, is one of the most intriguing and likable characters of the series, and we finally get his story in Hunt Her Down. The ex-FBI man is a notorious playboy, happily using women as a means to an end on assignments when necessary, an outrageous flirt, easygoing, and never seems to take anything too seriously, yet there’s always been something deeper...more
Dan Gallagher got his life settled and I was thankful for it. I believe Dan's character has been in all or most of the previous Bullet Catcher books, so it was definitely time. Since he was so adamant about never settling down or having kids, his character had to either eat a lot of words or go back to the past. He did the latter. Hunt Her Down was a book about rekindled young love. Fate. Superstitions.

Dan and Magdalena (Maggie) had an affair fourteen years ago while Dan (AKA Michael Scott) was...more
This was more 3.5 stars because I just didn't take to Maggie or Dan. Both weren't attractive characters, unlike previous Bullet Catchers and their women.

The story moved along quickly but I found it too convoluted for what was, to me, an interesting-enough plot. I felt like I was being pulled in too many directions chasing after the fortune/fortunes.

I'm giving 4 stars because on the whole, the Bullet Catchers setup is fun to follow as there hasn't been many of these sexy, hot guy-teams since Broc...more
I didn't care for this book. I didn't connect with the characters at all. Maggie, the heroine, annoyed me at times. She just didn't feel real. And Dan was just sub par. A few of the Top Gun references had me smiling, but otherwise nothing special happened.

This book had an average plot, with average characters. The plot, I thought, seemed to be written hastily. There were a lot of loose ends throughout the book, making it difficult to keep up with. I also thought there were to many bad guys popp...more
If you love red hot romantic suspense, you'll enjoy this next installment of the Bullet Catchers. Maggie Varcek Smith was once the girlfriend of an drug dealer and a lover of an undercover Narc agent, Michael Scott, carrying a secret with her--his baby. Fourteen years later, Dan Gallagher arrives in Marathon Florida, when word of the drug dealer she helped put away is released. When Dan falls in love with Maggie again, he can't stay away from her, and finds out about Quinn, who might be in dang...more
I really loved this book. I loved the connection bewteen the two main characters. The scene in the shed was HOT! I loved the sexual buildup throughout the book. Overall just a good romance suspense read. The only problem I had was that I wanted to see more of how Quin handled the situation with Dan. It got brushed over too quick. Even after the danger died down, there was no real discussion.

HUNT HER DOWN - BULLET CATCHER #7 - (Dan and Maggie)

Fourteen years ago, undercover FBI agent Dan Gallagher watched his lover, Maggie Varcek, flee into the Miami night as gunfire exploded around them. Now a Bullet Catcher, Dan has learned that drug lord Ramon Jimenez is out of prison after the FBI bust Maggie unwittingly aided, and is looking for revenge. Determined to protect the woman who still haunts his memory, Dan tracks Maggie down, undercover once again --...more
So glad Dan didn't end up w/ Lucy.
Man, I am so glad that Roxanne St. Claire has been writing and releasing Bullet Catchers book in threes fairly quickly! As usual, this story is rockin' and I fell in love with all her characters all over again.

Dan Gallagher has been Lucy's top go-to guy since the series started, but if you've read #8 you know that his (& her) status changed drastically. He begins this novel by taking a time-out from BC and heading to Florida to check on an informant from a very old case when Dan was with the...more
I really liked Dan from the start and couldn't wait to get my hands on his story even if it turned out to be not what I expected.

I liked the book, the author knows how to make you bound to the story, I'm always having a hard time to put the book away. The pace is good, it never makes me get bored and the plot was good too. I didn't figure out the "mole" until the very end, I always at my eyes on the other FBI agent Thomas Vincere (?), because I got weird vibes from him, when he started to questi...more
Dan's story was long expected and probably suffered from very very high expectations.
The investigation plot dealing mainly with money-laundering and marginally drug-dealing was one of Roxanne St. Claire's best to my opinion. It's more complex than on some of the previous books and what's enjoyable is that almost all stakeholders are playing a game looking for a treasure/fortune and that alliances are never clear, neither is the truth coming out of their mouth. This plot is really worth a 5 star...more
This is my first book by this author, and I am now a fan. For the most part, I am not a fan of romantic suspense because so much of it seems contrived and cliched. The only other author I really love in that genre is Shannon McKenna. St. Claire does not follow any of the cliches, which I love.

The hero and heroine have a great, balanced relationship. Her hero is strong without being a caveman. He is smart, adaptable, and a team player rather than the typical alpha control freak. Her heroine is al...more

Sexy widowed heroine is shocked to find out that the guy she met at her bar & who she almost had a 1-night-stand with is her supposedly-dead lover from the past.

She felt betrayed when she realized that he was working undercover for FBI during their secret affair, when she was involved with her mafia-type boyfriend, She's isn't sure whether if its only sex or if there's more to their relationship this time. Instead of trying to use her to get to the bad guys, this time he's prot...more

After Dan loses Lucy to Jack, he decides to take an open-ended break from the Bullet Catchers. He clearly liked Lucy, but now that she's chosen another, he feels free to let her go and pursue another. Maggie. A woman (a teenager at the time) he met, loved and left 14 years ago, when he was working undercover at the FBI. Maggie believes Dan died in a drug raid she witnessed. She's pregnant with his child and feels her only course of action is to flee. 14 years later, Maggie's drug running ex-boyf...more
Dan Gallagher's story.

So Lucy has fallen in love with Jack and Dan is leaving the Bullet Catchers - everyone thinks it is to (metaphorically) lick his wounds but he tells them its personal.

Indeed it is. Fourteen years ago he was an FBI agent undercover to bring down a Venezuelan drugs family, whilst undercover he had a torrid affair with a young (18 years old) girlfriend of the Don's son. As part of his cover his death during the FBI raid was faked and she has believed that he died for the past...more
Am I the only one who was actually rooting for a Dan/Lucy book? I think I would have much rather seen their dynamic as set up in some of the early trilogy (First You Run, Then You Hide) than to see Lucy with Jack (Now You Die), or Dan with Maggie in this book.

Maybe that was my difficulty with Hunt Her Down, but I just never felt the great pull towards Maggie. She's a good heroine, likable enough and a worthwhile character, but the plot for Dan and his background seemed too forced. The ending is...more

Always a pleasure getting immersed in a St.Claire book. Her stories are exciting and characters interesting. My first read from her Bullet Catcher series, i will be sure to read the more books in this series, my interest has been piqued about the other characters in the Bullet Catcher family. If not already a St.Claire fan, give this series a try and I am sure you will instantly become a fan.
Another great story from Roxanne St. Claire. Dan "The Player" Gallagher is the hero in this one. The opening first few scenes really grabbed me. The action slows down a bit after that but still kept me reading. I would have wanted Dan to struggle a bit more with ending his bachelorhood. There was a telling scene where Maggie asks him about their future and he completely stumbles...because he hadn't given it any thought. So, perhaps it was more of a quiet struggle. One of the things I really like...more

Dan seeks out a past (forbidden) love and finds out he left her pregnant with his child 14 years ago. No doubt, because the young man looks just like Dan at that age. The plot involves Dan & Maggie's past when she was the girfriend of a drug lord and Dan was the undercover DEA agent who seduced Maggie for information and sent the drug lord to jail. Now the druglord is free and looking for money he believes Maggie has. THe characters are well drawn, the plot believable, peripheral characters...more

Haven't read a non-SF/fantasy/paranormal romance novel in a while. In a long while. This one is a romantic suspense with equal emphasis on the romantic and the suspense. I love that Maggie is not a TSTL (too stoopid to live) heroine. And I love that Dan doesn't treat her like a retarded bimbo. They work together for a common goal and the story/dialogue and character motivations are believable and well-written. I have ordered some of the other titles in this Bullet Catcher series (dumb name but w...more

I'm not a big fan of romances that feature a couple who were together then split up for a long period of time, as there's always so much baggage, and I like my romances happy. But I did thoroughly enjoy this one and it may be because after the other 6 books, I had become attached to Dan Gallagher. And Maggie, while taking some time to forgive him, still moved the story along pretty quickly without lots of malice. A good story with lots of heat and a sweet romance.
This is one of the better ones of the series. I have always liked Dan and had hopes of him and Lucy ending up together until the last book and realized she is much better with Jack. I liked how Dan's past has come back to bite him in the butt and then some. Maggie was more than a match for Dan. I also loved to see familiar faces from previous books show up. The crime was fairly predictable and I knew who the leak was right away, but the book was still a fun read.

Not my thing, I like action and adventure with a bit of thrill and romance, but this book was so busy with sex that it was hard to keep reading without wondering where they found the time to get it on all the time. I guess I would be too busy to stop and have sex every time someone tried to kill me.

It is a series, but I think I will skip the rest unless I really feel the need to run for my life and I really do have time to have sex along the way.
The seventh book in Roxanne St. Claire's Bullet Catcher series. Another good addition to this series. Dan Gallagher's story at last! Fourteen years before, Dan Gallagher had a lover, Maggie Varcek. Now it looks like Maggie could be in danger from the drug lord that Maggie helped put in prison. Dan rushes to Florida, determined to protect her.

Lots of action in this installment. Great balance of suspense and romance.
I find it only mediocre. I expect it to be more, especially after the awesomeness that is Now You Die. I still like Dan but I don't care much about him and Maggie. I don't find their relationship interesting. Even the suspense doesn't thrill me as it usually does. If anything, I find the entire thing just alright. I wasn't jumping up and down with excitement.

I didn't like Maggie's character. Dan was an intriguing character since the first Bullet Catcher book but, in this book, he wasn't that big of a heroe. I simply didn't enjoy their story, their romance, it was anything but romantic. The plot around the fortunes was a little interesting but, overall, it didn't save the book.
Absolutely loved Hunt Her Down. The story held every key element, suspense, adrenaline pumping action, very steamy romance, a super plot, humor, it was gripping and a real page burner. Everything about this story was fantastic. Everything flowed wonderfully and for me a 4.9 out of 5 definitely.
