After reading a few books I disliked, it was refreshing to pick up this lovingly-done retrospective of Woodstock. Wisely, the author chooses to let the copious photographs and quotes from attendees tell the story. (Too often, books such as this are full of overly wordy, technical information that doesn't appeal to the casual reader.)

However, am I the only person who gets depressed looking at the "yesterday and today" photographs of hippies and 60s-era rock stars?

Woodstock - Peace, Music & Memories: 40th Anniversary by Brad Littleproud (Krauss Publications 2009) (Nonfiction) is a wonderful book published to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the largest concert ever held. This volume focuses on beautiful photography from the event; it is about Woodstock as extravaganza! My rating: 7/10, finished 3/11/14.

This book is more than a simply coffee table conversation starter book. Told through the eyes of those that attended, and those that had the idea for Woodstock so long in their hearts, to make a place in time for simple peace, music and community; through words and through pictures that truly speak loud and resonant the true meaning of those few days...It is a groovy read.
