I loved snow globes when I was a kid. I always seemed to have one or two of them. One I had from about age five and I don’t remember what happened to it, but I know I still had it when I was in high school. So, I expected this book might be my cup of tea, and it was.
I love how the story and its characters reflect the “normal psychosis” of very young children, of attributing feelings and cognition to what are really just objects. But young children will identify and older children and a More...

This is the story of two families. One lives in a house and they own a snow globe. The other family lives in the snow globe. Everyone in the big family has forgotten about the snow globe except for the baby. The snow globe family wants to be shaken so they can have a snowstorm and have some big hills for sledding, but since no one pays attention to the snow globe, they have not had a blizzard in years. Finally, one snow day, the baby gets ahold of the globe and gives them the storm of their

Two families live side by side in this winter picture-book from Jane O'Connor, creator of the immensely popular Fancy Nancy character. One family, consisting of a mama, a papa, a boy, a girl, and Baby, lives in a big house on a hill; while the other, also consisting of a mama, a papa, a boy, a girl, and Baby, lives inside the snow globe sitting on the parlor mantel of the "big" family's house. The children of both families long for a snowstorm, something dependent upon the weather outs

A very creative story, The Snow Globe Family helps children use their imagination. The big question through out this story is “when will it snow again?” They wish for some one in the big family to pick up the snow globe and shake it for the snow to fall. The story goes on and how there is a big baby that notices the family in the globe and notices it is not showing. The problem is the baby cannot reach the snow globe. The mystery is will they get more snow?

Mother, Father, sister, brother, and baby are eagerly awaiting a blizzard. Inside the snowglobe on the mantle, little mother, little father, and little baby have been waiting a long time for someone to shake the globe and give them a big snow storm so they can finally go sledding. Lovely illustrations and a simple plot leading to a big snow storm make this a great read-aloud book for children ages 5 and under.

This was a cute story with fun illustrations.
The story is about 2 very similar families. I liked that the author talked about the little family in the snow globe. I thought it was a fun and neat idea. The whole idea of a "blizzard" in the snow globe was really funny. I laughed when the baby shook the globe.
The pictures were colorful and fun, and the book was really fun to read to my child.

Two families: one inside a house on a winter's day and one inside a snow globe, both wishing for a snowstorm to go sledding. All inside the house have forgotten about The Snow Globe Family except baby. When baby shakes the snowglobe, the little family gets their wish...a snowy day for sledding and ice skating, just like the big family.

Wonderful story and neat to think about having a small family living out their world in a winter wonderland on your mantel. I think I'll get this one out each year when we decorate for Christmas with our small snowglobe collection.

Ben loves this one because he's infatuated w/ snow globes and because the focus of the story is on the baby, who's the most observant. Great juxtaposition of the big family and the small family that lives in the snow globe.

I loved the whimsy of the idea. Only the baby notices the tiny family in the snow globe, who long (just like Baby) to enjoy a good snow storm like the Big Family’s big kids.

Great for comparing similarities, the snow globe family and the family that owns the snow globe are living similar lives while they wait for the next bis snow storm.

A little family spying on a big family, and vis-a-vis. Interesting concept that works very well for young children. Great winter storytime book.
