DEEPER sent Will and Chester into FREEFALL-- tumbling through the subterranean Pore with the evil Rebecca twins in hot pursuit, both toting phials of the lethal Dominion virus. When, where, will they ever land?! Just when the drop seems infinite, the boys hit bottom, and find themselves in a realm of near-zero gravity atop a giant spongy fungus stuffed with artifacts from ...more

In Deeper, you have chapter one, which is a mini prologue for a character's relative, and then you jump into the action on the first sentence in chapter two. In Freefall, you jump in the action as hard as Will, Chester and Elliott jumped down The Pore: right away.
The action in this book is ridiculously awesome, and I feel that every time a new book is born in this franchise it exceeds the previous incredibly. The last time I remember feeling this excited about a book series was when Harry P...more

Of the three books so far in the series, this is the one that I have enjoyed the most. The previous two largely take place in the dismal underground worlds controlled by the Styx, but Freefall is a subterranean area completely untouched by these evil humans. Thus, the general mood from the characters feels lighter, and the spirit of adventure is stronger.

(Spoiler alert!) My favorite part, though would have to be once they get to the very center in which is contained a second sun. I ...more

Akhirnya, kar...more

I really enjoyed reading this book. I have been waiting for it to come out for a couple of months after I had finished reading "Deeper" I really like the idea of the whole story and it is a book I found hard to put down. I personally think this book was great until the ending, when the surroundings of the "second sun" place was so similar to "topsoil" life, it has a lack of imagination and mystery. It wasn't the way I would have hoped the book to end, I was expectin...more

Wasn't as fast paced as the previous books. Plus I never felt any climax and the final chapters were in much need of more action. Enjoyed the world building though, that's a major reason why I like these books.
*spoilers*
I cheered for Mrs. Burrows when she resisted the Dark Light. I was pretty sure she would, she gave out a will of iron kind of presence in this book. Must have made the Styx pretty mad when she was able to resist so much.
And I missed Elliot a lot, would have liked t...more

This series is really good. It is very exciting and funny, and there is something really neat about the whole 'underground' concept. Read these books!

The book that I just finished is called Freefall by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. This book is the third book in the Tunnels series with the staring characters Will Burrows and his best friend Chester trying to escape an underground world that lies right beneath our feet and at the same time are trying to save us from a disease that can wipe us out.
If I had to compare this book to the first two books, Tunnels and Deeper, I would say that this is the best so far. I do think that the b...more

This book is about 3 kids who fall into a very (very, very, very, very...) deep hole called the Pore. They end up at a log house (whose owner was not completely trust whorthy). The kids and the log house owner travel to this big submarine. There someone makes this huge explotion that separates one of them (and his dad who some how got down there too). The two that got separated find a way to reach the surface come back dowm and come back down to kill thier old enemies.

Recommended to Brian by: The previous book, Deeper, because it was so good.
I'm not sure whether or not I love this more than I loved Deeper, but the one thing that I can wholly and truly affirm with concrete earnestness is that this is another fantastic addition to the Tunnels series.
One noticeable difference that sets this volume apart from its predecessors is that it is markedly more lighthearted. The previous two books, while epic and suspenseful as always, were rather dreary - hardly any character was ever happy, and comic relief was hard to come by, to say t...more

Descend even deeper than ever, Will, Chester, and Elliot land on the Pore, the place equal (if not more) dangerous as the interior. Spider-monkey and Bright are roaming around looking for victims. Luckily they stumbled upon Martha, a soloist renegade who lives in the Pore and take them to her save haven. But after awhile, they starting to wonder about Martha's mental condition and going restless. But will Martha let them go? And what about the twins? Without Will and Chester knowing, they also l...more

Book review number one-

This story follows Will Burrows (a.k.a. Seth Jerome) through his journey inside the pore, a subterranean void with lower gravity. It starts out wit Will's landing inside the pore. As it continues he gets trapped in a net trap, captures on of the Rebeccas, finds a submarine and a route topsoil. During his trip topsoil, with his father, Will contacts his mom and drags her into the mess with the styx. Also, while he was topsoil Will meets up with Drake and comes...more

Oh. My. Gosh. Atlantis.. again.. TIDAK!!

Benci tapi suka.

I can't say I'm not disappointed after reading this book. Although it still has similar premises as the 1st and 2nd book. However, I don't like where the story is heading.

The good thing I found in this book is, the characters are more evolve and the relationships are clearer and more develop especially between Will and other characters. Will becomes more adult, tough and heroic. There is now a sense of purpose in the 3rd book.

My disappointment is there really isn't anythi...more

Unfortunately, I could not finish this book. I will say that the story was outstanding. Awesome characters and scenery! However, I am not sure if I will continue reading the next few books because of the possibility of uncovering more grammatical errors and awkward sentence structures I painfully trudged through in Free Fall. I really do hate that the book was published this away. What the heck was the publisher thinking, allowing this book to see print before someone edits it properly? Perhaps ...more

This is the 3rd book of the series Tunnels. After Wil, Elliot, Chester, and the evil Rebecca twins fell into the Pore, the Rebeccas try to get back up onto the surface of the Earth to unlease the terrible disease that would wipe out the human population on the surface, leaving it for the plans of the Styx. Drake and his fellows try to stop them in the surface with the help of Wil's foster mother while Wil's foster father, Wil, Chester, and Elliot stay in the Pore, trying to stop the Styx.

Freefall is the third book and is continuous after Deeper. Will is falling through this pit for a very long time and it seems like it will never end, but he eventually landed. He landed on a place with no gravity but Styx is trying to kill Will again. Styx tries to kill Will by poisoning from on top of him. In the end Will survives.
This is another great book from the series because it shows a lot of actions. It continues after end of each book.

This series has gotten better with each book! I quite enjoyed Free Fall. I could hardly put it down. The plot became so thick, I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. What happens to Will and his friends, on their journey through the earth, is mind-boggling at times. I enjoy a book that can keep me on my toes and surprise me with its' creativity. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

i've decided these books are more on the sci-fy side. it's sort of like journey to the center of the earth meets the telivison show Lost. for example, before every commecial you end up saying to yourself, "WHAT THE???" that's how i felt about this book. "oh please" might be another phrase that came out of my mouth while reading this one. i have to finish the series though. too bad the next one is not the last!

I wanted to actually buy the next book online when I was done with this one. I didn't want it to end. Well... THE ending was KILLER, but also I didn't want to ever stop, I wanted to have the next one DIRECTLY after I was done with this one. I couldn't, and still can't... yet, buy the last book in the series from a bookstore in the UK, but I wish I could've. So I wait, until it comes out here in america.

"Freefall" is an amazing book. I rated it 5 out of 5 because I think that it is very well written and that it is an amazingly imaginative book. It's interesting to see the main character, Will, change and it's interesting to see his personality change. He finds his father after searching for him for who knows how long and makes it up to the surface. He goes back down to help his friends and to stop the evil Styx twins from destroying the human race. I think although when I am describin...more

Aaarrrggghhh ... tadinya mau ngasih 4 Bintang. Gara-gara endingnya, bintangnya gw kurangi setengah. 3,5 deh akhirnya.

Excellent third book in the Tunnels series. I was really hoping this would be the last in a trilogy though, as I didn't want to be on pins and needles again until the next book comes out. No such luck. No doubt I'll be ordering from Amazon.uk again to get the 4th book asap. This one was even more of a cliffhanger than the others.
