I liked Blanche's story, what I could see of it. The author dedicated half of the book, at least, to the continued story of Emilie, and that made the time we do spend with Blanche feel rushed. Besides, after a full novel of Emilie, I was starting to get bored with her.(Maybe I shouldn't have watched the mini-séries first, though. It might have given me false expectations.)

I'm curious about the third book.

Worth the read. Another one of those books in which you get so attached to the characters that you are left with an empty void when there is nothing else to read. Wish it had been a little happier, though..

One of my favourite Arlette Coursture books. Looking to read the series again in 2014. Fiction but does a great job depicting historical Québec.
