Opening Line: " Music, raw and hard like sex, pulsed through the speaker stack, caught the people in front of the stage, as much as it had her in its grip."

Oh how I loved this one. LAID BARE it's one of the best erotic books I've ever read; encompassing the perfect mix of raw sexuality along with tenderness, growth and understanding. There is also a beautiful love story here that eventually involves 3 people and Lauren Dane has done a wonderful job of exploring the boundarie More...

This book was just okay for me. The sex was smoking hot, but the relationship between Todd and Erin just didn't do it for me. I am not sure what the deal was. I don't know if it was what I perceived as the lack of character development or if I need a little more sexual tension between the H/h.

Now as far as a ménage goes this was a story that actually made me believe that it could work between Todd, Erin, and Ben. Once the three of them got together I began to like the characters a More...

5+ stars – Contemporary Romance/Erotica/Ménage/BDSM

I loved this book for so many reasons, but mainly for its strong characters, unforgiving honesty, and heartfelt emotion.

Stoic Seattle cop Todd is different in many ways from his free-spirited, rocker chic neighbor Erin, but one place they are totally in sync is in the bedroom. It seems Todd harbors a secret kinky, Dom streak, and lucky for him, Erin is more than willing to indulge his darkest desires, wildest fantasies, More...

He's a sexy, straight-laced, 20-something Seattle cop. She's a beautiful, free-spirited, dreadlocked, 24 year old wannabe rock star. He likes Toby Keith, she likes PJ Harvey. Her parents died when she was young, and she and her younger rocker brother were raised by a supportive older brother. He comes from a large family of cops and former cops. Sounds like Erin Brown and Todd Keenan wouldn't have much in common. But the fact that they seem totally different doesn't stop the attraction that More...

This was a great book. It was almost a five-star read...almost but not quite. There were a couple things that needed to be a little better or done a little different to be five-starts, but it was a solid 4.5 for me.

Summary:
Erin Brown is the quintessential rocker chick. She's got funky hair, tattoos, piercings and a wild girl approach to life. That doesn't stop her from wanting the straight-laced cop next door. They start a hot, wild fling that More...

When I first approached Leontine with the proposal of a double dare, I was a little nervous. Her taste in romance books is pretty much at the opposite end of the spectrum to mine, but that’s the reason I wanted to do the double dare with her - to broaden my horizons.

Leontine offered me three choices: LAID BARE by Lauren Dane, A FOSTERED LOVE by Cameron Dane and HOLDING THE CARDS by Joey W Hill.

LAID BARE is a wonderful story that depicts an emotional and erotic journey to happily ever after and it totally took me by surprise. Sometimes you stumble upon treasures where you least expect them. I must admit that I wouldn't have jumped up to review this book if it wasn't for a glowing endorsement from Ann Aguirre on Twitter when Lauren Dane was offering the eARCs of it. I had heard of Lauren Dane's writing via fellow ROOB-reviewer Leontine whose raving reviews put Laure More...

It seems to me that Lauren Dane is the queen of writing sexy books that will have you crying at some point, that one of the characters has gone through a terrible tragedy and is trying to get back her life. This book has that in spades!

I loved the past portion of the book, Erin was so sassy and knew what she wanted. I loved that she went after Todd, reveled in their time together and didn't apologize for what she wanted and needed sexually. I thought it was great that she called Tod More...

This book its full of emotions and HOT sex and more emotions.. Out of all the ménage books, I have read this one tops in the ménage seen, Dane goes in to detail so, well you don’t miss anything, I thought they were SMOKING HOT.. Although I don’t normally like this kind of BDSM (I can’t stand pain..) or the M/M (that is very light) I loved this book, Plus I nerve felt no type of degrading in this book as in some BDSM books.

I really loved Erin, Todd and Ben together they each compl More...

This book has an excellent plot. Our heroine has had her life turned upside down by violence, and is slowly making her way back to some kind of normality. The admirability of her struggle attracts the love of not one but two good men.

My favorite element is character growth, and all three protagonists show it. There is learning, there is healing, and there is improved confidence.

I like that the setting is not all shiny and utopian. These people are in a long-term three More...

I really enjoyed the relationship between the siblings and felt like the emotional background for them was written very well. I can understand how they've grown so close and are always there for each other through thick and thin. I found Erin and Todd's relationship progression to be believable enough. What kind of threw me was how late Ben was written into the relationship. It was Todd and Erin for so long, then the idea of adding Ben came up and then all of a sudden it was "Todd, Erin and More...

A few pages into this, I started to feel like King Louis in “Start the Revolution Without Me” -- I thought it was Romantic Suspense! Trust me to barely finish one book because it had too much sex and to then pick up another that turns out to be D/s erotica with menage. But it did suck me in, no graphic imagery intended. Despite it being cruder than I personally enjoy--the characters are really into dirty talk and me, not so much--I was intrigued by the sexually assured Erin and the hung up, re More...

Since Undercover I knew Lauren Dane could deliver a smoking hot novel fraught with emotional depth and she has delivered it all over again with Laid Bare. Nothing could prepare me for the in-depth characterization of three people whose thoughts, feelings and experiences punched me in the gut and left a mark on me. From the get-go three elements worked as one; vibrant, drawn from life characters, profound emotions and a passion that often set the pages ablaze.

It's a good book...but if it started with four stars it ended with two..so I decided to give it an average. The story between Erin and Todd is well written, sensual and credible; the authour explores the emotional background of both characters and develops it appropriately during the story.

It's Ben's characters that isn't added smoothly: if you spend half a book decribing how 2 characters fall in love, it's natural to expect that the other half will do the same if you add a third to More...

I must say that I have never read a book like this before and I have read a lot of erotic romances. What was different? Well...
#1--there was never any conflict between the 3 characters. They were all really respectful of each other and of each others feelings. They were constantly making sure that no one felt left out. I must say that that was calming for me. I wasn't frustrated with any misunderstandings that come with lack of communication. I know that this is not a plus for all readers. More...

Just ok. Nothing special or different. Needed more emotional pull.

STORY BRIEF:
Todd is a policeman. Erin and her brother Adrian have a rock band. Erin is attracted to Todd and initiates sex. She likes it hard with some roughness and pain. Todd is hot for her but doesn’t feel it’s right to be rough. He is afraid of his feelings. So he breaks up with her and moves to Boston . He marries sweet Shiela, and they later divorce. He never felt lust for Sheila the way he did wi More...

I give this book a 3.5, but it was really close to a 4. I love the characters in this book, I fell in love with them all, and it was easy to become emotionally invested. Even though this book is def. an Erotic Romance, it's not all about sex, there are so many more layers to ther characters and their lives. Another thing I really enjoyed was the family and friend relationships, and how the pressures of them can be harmful, and disctructive, and also powerful, and healing. There was def. some emo More...

Laid Bare by Lauren Dane is a novel about love, survival, and family. This is a non-traditional contemporary romance with a triad relationship. The story begins with Todd and Erin starting their relationship with a fling. Todd runs from Erin because he is not comfortable with their relationship because it because their liaison brings out a deviant sexual side in him.

Ten years later, Todd and Erin have dealt with life altering situations in their lives independent of the other. The s More...

Wow! Loved this book. A lot of steamy sex scenes. . .

Erin is a growing rockstar who lives next door to a sexy cop. Even though Erin is not his usual type (tats and dredlocks) Todd can't stop looking at her. She comes over one day and they hit it off (really steamy sex scene). They're good together and Todd shows her his dominant-in-bed side. He has a hard time accepting this side of him because he sees it as something shameful and ends up breaking up
with Erin, even though she l More...

This read like a poorly written and edited fanfic. It was like the author said, "Hey, let's see how many conflicts I can throw into one story." The development of the relationships were absent; instead, she simply told us that they loved each other and we were supposed to accept that.

The whole BDSM thing was laughable. She went on to say over and over how it wasn't about being a Dom or a sub that I have to wonder why she did it in the first place. My thought? Shock value.

I'd say this is my fav of the three Brown siblings books. And not only because Erin loves and is loved by two adorable alphas ;)

Lauren Dane conjured a happy go lucky world; a circle of friends and lovers in which good beats shit out of evil. There isn't a bad word shed among friends, they kiss and hug because they feel like it. They create this good feeling in the peeping toms i.e. us readers and make us grin most of the time. Well at least this is true in my case. However, there are m More...

It's been awhile since I've read something from Lauren Dane, and I really missed her writing. The story was awesome, heart-wrenching and emotional, and I felt the love and romance here, with amazingly scorching hot sex to top it off.

Erin is a free-spirited woman who's not ashamed of her sexuality. She's a sexual submissive, she's also a bassist for a rock band with her brother Adrian. Todd is the good-boy cop next door who's the total opposite of Erin. He's the by-the-book type of guy More...
