College is supposed to be a time of exploring new things, learning about yourself, and having a good time doing it. For Max Henley, it was the hardest time of his life. During his sophomore year, his best friend and lover, Nick, was killed in a car wreck. A car Max had been driving. Now two years later, Max has thrown himself into his studies. Side-lined from football due ...more

I have thought about what I was going to say about this book all day. I am torn because I honestly don't know hot to rate it. I liked the characters, and I am definately going to continue to read the rest of the series, but I have some problems with this one.

The story starts four years after the first book in this series, Coach. Luc and Justin have relocated, and Justin is now a coach at a local college. They continue to be very happy, but are worried about Luc's son Max.

Max was once a star of

Omg! I did not like this book at all! It went way beyond my comfort zone and made my skin crawl. Even from the beginning, I was a little creeped out about the teacher-student relationship. But the D/s relationship is what really freaked me out. Not for me at all! (view spoiler) ...more

Side-Lined (campus cravings book 2) was… it just was. I have these odd moments when I find things extremely hilarious that I don’t think was intended to be, and this book was one of them. I was just cracking up, and even through all its absurdity, I freaking loved it. The story moved quite well, and was entertaining, but what can I say I am bias cus nothing better than student and profes

This was a strange one for me! I'm will probably read one more book before deciding whether to end the series.

The fact that the lead characters were a teacher and a student, didn't sit easily with me, but it was the dominant/submissive nature of the relationship that I was most uncomfortable with. It just didn't seem natural, the way Alec's dominance extended beyond the bedroom and how easily Max accepted it. There wasn't enough background or buildup to explain why they would fall into this rela

Another quick enjoyable read. My heart went out to Max. He suffered so much and he truly deserved a HEA with Alec.

Max Henley is the son of Luc Henley and Justin from the first book. Max's close friend in high school, Nick was his secret boyfriend for two years in HS and roommate and boyfriend in college. This book begins two years after a car accident kills Nick. This book was longer with better development than the first book. There is a slight age difference between the two MCs Max and his professor Alec Demakis, but they don't make a big deal out of it so it's not very noticeable. While this book isn't i ...more

I said this in my last review: Carol Lynne goes better every book I read. The first enstalment on the Campus Cravings series was enjoyable but not impressive. A good story, fast and simple, no much drama.

In this second enstalment, Max, Luc's son (Luc and Justin were the main characters of the first enstalment), is still grieving for the loss of Nick, his first and only lover till now. Nick is dead in a car accident and Max was behind the wheel. Doesn't matter that was not his fault. And doesn't

2.5 stars I definitely liked this better than the first, Coach, although still not great. I liked the way Max and Alec converse better, I still find Luc and Justin's way of talking to be overly cheesy and unrealistic. But Max and Alec still say stuff I would never say (ie: Max getting up from talking to the new qb he just met and saying "I'm getting the evil glare from the Neanderthal on the patio. Good thing I love him to piece.") Don't get me wrong, I love my husband, but I don't go around gus ...more

This was a nice read.

First off, I'll first disclose that this is a Daddy/boy Domestic Discipline story. Or better said, fairy tail, because everything in it is mostly rosy. If you are looking a vanilla m/m romance, you won't find it here. I have recently learned more about Domestic Discipline which is a type of D/s relationship that differs from the typical BDSM relationships b/c they don't really have the S/D element, which is fine by me but I digress...

The pace of the book was nice. Mind you.

I normally love D/s stories with a hint of bdsm in them but something about this story just didn't sit right with me. I enjoyed the angst of Max finding out about Nick, but I guess I didnt like how lightning fast the relationship started and how Max didn't really have a choice even if he would have chosen to stay anyway.

I don't know what it was about this book but it won't stop me from reading the next book in the series! I guess maybe I didn't like the whole daddy/baby aspect of it... I'm not s

Review of the series...

I really don't know why I do this to myself...I've read Carol Lynne before and I'm always disappointed with her books...she takes a really good premise with interesting characters and delivers the reader a shallow, two-dimensional version of what could be a great book with more words and effort...they aren't my thing at all...so, because it was my fault for buying this drivel, I've tried to award stars based on the quality of the book. This book is okay. It is formulaic, u

I was really anxious to start this as I liked Max in the first book in this series. It was heartbreaking to some degree - but thankfully not too heavily focused on. I did think what was revealed about Nick felt a bit like a cop out - and that's all I'll say about that.

Consistency issues hit this one. For example in the first part of a scene the person is in one position but the later reflection puts him in a different one completely. It would be one or the other.

The D/s is TPE here although it

I didn't enjoy this book like I did the first unfortunately, the description when I read it was very appealing but then I read the book and well...it was really unrealistic and annoying, I kept correcting some sentences with words that would've sounded better and make the book more enjoyable. It had alot of potential, I just couldn't finish it though.
For a DS book it didn't make sense? yeah Alec enjoys some spanking and a little order but that's it, would you call that a domineer and submissive

I enjoyed the fact that this story was about Max as well as seeing his two Dads again (Justin and Luc). What didn’t quite work for me was the relationship between Max and Alec. It felt too rushed. I think it was literally within the space of a couple days that Max went from mourning Nick and being vanilla in terms of sex, to suddenly being in love and an experienced submissive. Add to that the fact that Alec’s form of D/s came with a Greek Daddy kink, and I never quite warmed up to them. Good, b ...more

Big Surprise

Following the scintillating first book (well, short novella) in this series, it did not surprise me that this one allowed us to see that Luc's son, Max, a football player, was also gay and attending the same college where Luc's lover, Justin is a football coach. But there were several major surprises after that, including what everyone who reads blurbs knows--Max's best childhood friend, Nick, became his lover in college, but died in a tragic car accident leaving Max a shell of himse

Probably more of a 2.5

I'll try to avoid spoilers but can't guarantee:

The tone of this book was just off for me. The nickname that Alec made Max use was creepy and it all felt a bit rushed. Max didn't even appear interested in BDSM and suddenly he's moved in with the guy?! Unrealistic IMO. Also Alec was way too controlling, I know that was his thing but I feel it could have been portrayed better, perhaps more consensual or at least Max being better informed before agreeing to be Alec's 'baby'. This review really applies to the first 7 books of this series - Coach, Side-Lined, Sacking the Quarterback, Off-Season, Forbidden Freshman, Broken Pottery, and In Bear's Bed I am together because really, they are one story broken into multiple novellas (even more so than any other such series I have encountered anyway). It is the story of a group of gay friends at a conservative university in Idaho. Many of the friends are Athletes or former athletes and their friends and relations. Some of the ...more

Now we get to see Max's story; after a car accident Max had not been the same after that night, where he lost the only lover he had have in his entire life and his ability to play football. It had been 2 and a half years and Max doesnt sees the end of his suffering.

Alec, had lust after Max since the first day he saw him (and that had been since Max day one in college) Alec knows that Max is the one, but right now he doesn't know what to do with the person Max had become.

This is the second book in the Campus Cravings series by Carol Lynne and features Max (Maximum) Henley, from the first book, and Alec Demakis. This one deals with D/s. Max loses his partner and lover who he has had since high school in a car accident. This book starts out two years after that but Max is having a very hard time moving on with is life. We get to see Justin and Luc well established two years into their relationship and they are doing well. In this book, Max ends up starting a relat ...more

I had to go back and see what I rated the first book, which was really short. I don't recall getting the impression that Luc's son was gay so I was thrown for a loop when we now find out he's gay and his boyfriend died and he's grieving.

So then Max meets Alec. Carol Lynne is the QUEEN of insta-love but I just did not buy Max and Alec's relationship. After one day Alec wants Max to move in with him? Even Justin felt it was too soon for them to be in love (one week.)

I didn't buy Max being a submis

How very nice! So very well written I don't even give a damn what most people might think. Seems a preconception to me!

I liked the characters but had to drop a star because things just progressed way too fast. Not the fact of Max and Alec's relationship - they had been aware of each other for years - but the lightning-fast dive into D/s. I'm not against reading D/s and I have been known to enjoy reading some Daddy-kink but (view spoiler) ...more

This being Max's story (the son of Luc and step son of Justin from CC#1) was a treat for sure. I loved the D/s relationship between Max and his "Babas" Alec. I liked the pacing and the writing Carol Lynn has.

What more can I say. Campus Cravings are "love bites". A little sampling of stories that are, so far, off-shoots of the one before. So if one ends with a little question hanging. Maybe it will be answered in the next installment.

I love Max and Alec, even if their kind of relationship isn't my cup of tea. I don't have anything against it, though, so it didn't lessen my enjoyment in the least.

***As you'll have noticed, I don't really write "reviews", just my own rambling thoughts and impressions. (I've decided to include this on all "reviews" just so people know. Maybe I should put it at the top?)***

3.5 stars

Book 2 in the Campus Craving series, dealing with a D/s relationship for Max (son of Luc and Justin, book 1). I enjoyed the shorter length of this novella even though I felt the relationship developed extremely quickly. I'll definitely continue this series for light entertainment and a quick M/M fix.

3 3/4 stars, rounded up.

This story by Ms. Lynn is the second of the series. It’s definitely more intense than the first book.
