Why aren't all rock star autobiographies like this? Fresh, funny and gloriously frank, McNabb revisits his career with the 1980s nearly band The Icicle Works and his subsequent solo career and positively revels in the salacious tales of drunken, stoned debauchery. He is unsparingly critical of those who deserve it (himself especially), always ready to puncture the pride of a pompous pop princess.

(When I opened the soft envelope that this book came in, I was hit by a metaphorical flyswatter of literal patchouli. The previous owner must live in a head shop or bathe hourly in Lush's Karma. Each page smelled like one of those perfume samples in magazines that you pull open and then you can't get the taste of it off your tongue even though you are sure that you never licked it. Returning is out of the question. I had to import a used edition to even get a copy. Whatever. Life is all about ...more

Brilliant read. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend this to anyone, especially anyone interested in the author/Icicle Works/Liverpool music scene. One of the best musician autobiographies I have ever read actually
