Pretending to be newlyweds can be a dangerous game… especially when you’re falling in love.

FBI Special Agent Caitlin Chaney believes in going strictly by the book. She’s determined to prove her success has nothing to do with her father’s position in the federal government. To her way of thinking, Agent LeFevre is a rogue agent and determined to screw up her operation and h

Recommends it for: fans of romantic suspense
Okay, confession time. It was the cover of this book that initially caught my eye, and when I read the back cover synopsis (I love a good erotic romantic suspense), I figured this would be a book I'd really enjoy. Almost right. Parts of this book were really good, but other parts were so slooow. I found reasons to keep putting down the book and there was no real sense of urgency for me to pick it up again. Not a good sign for me. Unrealistic expectations? Maybe. The story started out well enough ...more

This is a fun, fast paced suspense with a really sweet, hot romance.

The dialogue between Caitlin and Jake is very witty, with these two going at it while the sexual tension between them heats up. It's a nice slow, but delicious dance.

The suspense plot of money laundering in New Orleans is pretty tightly woven and written and kept the story moving along and interesting.

Plus there are quite a few unique and savory side characters.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes some suspense with thei

I love it when a book surprises me, as this one did! Honestly, the cover is what sold me on reading the book (it’s so hot!), but when I opened it up and started reading, I had a really hard time putting it down!

Caitlin and Jake are special agents working together undercover at a casino to try and diffuse a money laundering scheme in a post-Katrina New Orleans. As the special agent in charge of the operation, Caitlin is ambitious, bold and determined to make sure the assignment runs smoothly. He

This started out very well; great characters, a slightly cliched premise that ended up working because of witty dialogue and strong protagonists. I really enjoyed the building of their relationship until they actually BEGAN a relationship-from then on the clever dialogue became stilted and the narration took on a very dated, flowery sort of feel with some NASTY words that made me blush during their love scenes to make me go HUH??? LOL .

I like nasty (I do read erotic romance after all!) but when

HOLDING HER OWN, by Marie-Nicole Ryan, is a gritty, touching, suspenseful romance. FBI agents Caitlin Chaney and Jake LeFevre appear to be polar opposites. Sparks fly when they are assigned to pose as newlyweds and are sent undercover to break up an international money-laundering scheme. Forced to spend time together in close quarters, their mutual admiration grows as their desire for each other intensifies. Caitlin does indeed learn to "Hold Her Own" as she and Jake risk their lives to complete ...more

This was surprisingly good. I didn't expect the fast pace and suspense, or the sizzling chemistry between Jake and Kate. Hope there's more where this came from.

RE-READ in NOV 2013. Still enjoyed it!
