I'm not much into reading self-help/awareness books but this one was sent to me and I haven't been to the library in ages and I figured what the heck might as well give it a try. And I ended up reading it cover to cover and finding a lot of the commentary true and thought provoking.

The author usually writes Christian fiction novels and children's books but she did a really good job on this book which is about how your relationships change when you become a mom. Each chapter in the book focuses o...more

I haven't picked up a self-help book in a while but lately, I've been looking for practical and encouraging, even spiritual reads on parenthood and raising young children. So I was glad to come across this Christian parenting book.

Motherhood is no joke and is a lot of work. After giving birth to my first baby, I found myself going through different stages and seasons of stress, loneliness, alienation and insecurity. Even without meaning to, I sometimes pull away from people and take relationship...more

This book makes a great gift for an expecting mom or a mother of small children. (Go grab it for Mother's Day!) Short and quick to read, "Life on Planet Mom" offers lots of great reminders: As moms, we can't isolate ourselves; we need to take time to focus on our marriage, for the sake of ourselves and our children; friends are important, too; we need to give ourselves time, also; stay connected to the world; learn more about God. I especially appreciate the chapter on marriage. I've re-read it...more

Every woman has relationships with others that are changed when they become a mom. That is the theme behind this interesting book that every new mom should read. You may not totally understand what is happening when you start to feel isolated from your family or friends but reading this book will explain everything.

Your relationship with your husband changes because you see yourself different now. You are not just a wife but a caretaker of your child. You have to make sure you don’t become the c...more

Good reminders and reflections for moms. Chapters devoted our changing relationships with self (now that child attached at hip :), husband, parents and in-laws, friends with kids and without kids, the world at large, and God. An extra nice touch for me was that when it actually mentioned childbirth it would also mention those of us who became parents through adoption.

A rule to remember: once a week take an evening for self, once a month take a day, once a year take a weekend.

really enjoyed the great practical advice this book gave...our relationships do change when we have a family...i didn't understand this until i began a family of my own...couldn't understand why my friends on the other side had changed priorities...i couldn't relate...now i get it...

MOPS book focusing on how mothers need to nourish themselves in order to nourish their children. Nothing earth-shattering, but a good reminder for me to go out with the "girls" every now and then in all the craziness that motherhood brings.

MOPS book from 2009. There was a fiction story interspersed with practical knowledge and advice, which I enjoyed better than the fiction, actually.

Read this for a book club over a period of a few weeks. Had great questions at the end of each chapter. Enjoyed it.

maybe this would have been more helpful 4 years ago... Not a bad book, just not really anything new to me.
Joanne Sher
Really enjoyed this - very practical, lighthearted, fun advice for dealing with motherhood.
Molly Raddemann
Had some good Godly advice on how to keep/sustain relationships after having kids. Quick read.

Hated this book, but can't decide if it's because it's really bad or just that I'm FINALLY past the baby stage.

second time reading. good.
Melissa
I read this book because it is the theme book for MOPS. It really had a lot of good suggestions for moms regarding relationships. The writing was easy to read.

I'm two chapters into this and thinking it's more for the baby stage than the pre-school stage... and now that I haven't picked it up for weeks, I have zero desire to get back into it. It would be a good read for the new mom who has not yet adjusted to life with 'critters' but with a 4 and 6 year old, this wasn't for me. Wish MOPS would have chosen a book more applicable to ALL their members.

I received this book through my MOPS membership; probably not a book I would have picked up on my own. This book helped me to evaluate my relationships and gave me few hints on how to improve them. I didn't find any of the information new or life altering, just reinforcing what I already knew. The book did however refer me to a few other books that look like good reads.

I felt this book had some good chapters and made some good points. Overall, I was disappointed though.

Great book on a mothers changing relationships with the world. I love Lisa's little fictional story, and the tips and advice on how to create and keep our relationships strong.
Megan
A MOPs book- an encouraging look at how a mom's relationship with the world around her (and all of those in it) changes upon entering motherhood.
Chrissy
Totally relevant to being a mom with young kids. I felt like the author did a great job of connecting to me as a reader.
Pam
I didn't enjoy this book, or feel that I learned much from reading this book.
Allison
I enjoyed this book, but I guess I expected more. Maybe I'm just not struggling with the relationships she discussed, but it didn't really apply to me too much, other than that it was about moms. I'm a single mom who is active in my faith, and I have few troubles with my family, and those were the main issues she discussed. I took a few tidbits, but other than that, I thought it was just OK.
