I beleive that a lot of our health problems are a result of our diet, but Timothy Brantley takes it to the extreme. Sure we need to eat less processed foods and more whole foods but I don't know about eating totally raw. This book seemed to be a big advertisement for buying his supplements and stuff. It did make me take a better look at the type of foods I was eating, and I have tried to eat less processed foods.
WAYYYY to much information about colons. I think he starts with a basic assumption that may be false and reiterates it frequently regarding the change in food and diet over the past 100 years. I think there are some grains of information in this book, but getting through his biases and street talk leaves A LOT to be desired! I also think it is interesting that we "should not buy vitamins and supplements because they are products of a lab", but then the back half of the book is dedicate...more
My friend Rachel asked me to take this book back to the library, and en route, I read through it (don't worry, I got it back in time!). I think the author has some interesting ideas, and I agree that diets heavy in animal products, highly processed food, sugar, etc, are probably a bad idea. I think taking certain aspects of his eating plans would be beneficial. However... If told that I had a choice to give up all sugar, or give up 5 years of my life, I would probably opt to give up the 5 ye...more
This book gives a good guide to eating for health and tells about detox. The detox instructions are not detailed & he offers his own products, but other than that, this book is great.

Yes hard, startling awareness in a book! We ARE what we eat!
At the suggestion of a friend, I bought the book to find out if there are things I should be doing differently in my eating habits/diet. I learned some very valuable information on water, which I share with everyone I know. Not so sure I buy all his other theories, or if I could actually eat this way for a life time, but I would highly recommend this book for anyone facing a serious illness. Not that it really is the cure, but perhaps? Much of what he suggests makes sense, but some is very r...more

I have mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand I completely agree with the author that we eat WAY too much sugar, bread and general junk that is messing up our health in ways we don´t realize. I don´t think however that a person with stage 4 cancer should pick up this book and think that this is going to cure them. I do like his ideas and am willing to implement some of them in my own diet, but Im looking to better inform myself on nutrition in general and don´t want to stop here
Awesome book. Book taught me more about food than anyone in my life. I need to re-read and get focused again. I have never felt so good in my life, eating the way he describes.
I appreciate this approach to managing your health by taking control of your diet. Although the advice seems rather strict, it is true. It is unbelievable how much better you can feel by following the advice offered in this book and staying properly hydrated!
This is one of the best books I've ever read. It makes me think twice about the things that I'm eating and how I can help prevent illnesses in the future. It's FANTASTIC!!!!
What a great book. This book gives you a different true perspective on eating and what you are putting into your bodies.
This book has been a great jumping off point for me and my optimal health. It's an easy read with great pointers in it.
The book is basically explaining about the "holistic" approach to living and eating.
