In a place where realms combine and portals open passages to the unknown, a prophecy speaks of fertility being restored to his people through the taking of King Kabril's mate.

The prophecy neglects to mention she lacks something vital to his kind--wings. Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis has no interest in taking a human mate. His kind believes humans are dirty, vile cre

King of Prey is book one in the King of Prey series by Mandy M. Roth. This was my first book by Mandy Roth and now I’m wondering what the heck took me so long!

Giulio Maria Berrutil.:

King Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis is a bird shifter, specifically a hawk. His kingdom has been suffering. There have been no new children born in years. The streets no longer carry the sounds of children’s laughter. Morale is low, people are unhappy. It is prophesied that King Kabril must go to the human realm of earth and he will fi

4 1/2 stars, This is one great shifter romance. I will always hold a special place in my heart for paranormal romance, it was my first jump into romance an all I read for years. After several years of only reading PR I moved to other genre's and seemed to move on from PR. But it was never because I don't love this genre, I always will I think I read so much that I got burned out for a while and then just plain couldn't find any good paranormal romance books. I always keep an eye out for a good ...more

Cute & Sexy Hot Read!

This was such a cute and fun read; I think I smiled all the way throughout the book. The characters connection was perfect as it showed a close friendship between the King Kabril and his loyal old friend and advisor “Sachin” as well as creating the friendship between Kabril and his future mate Rayna (human).

The romance between Kabril and Rayna grew sweetly with friendship and trust; and I loved how the relationship developed into an undeniable attraction between the two.

The Good
· Good storyline.
· Fun secondary characters.
· Nice scenery descriptions.
· Well developed male protagonist.
· Appreciable world building.
· Made me want to continue reading the series.

The Bad
· Rayna's acceptance of the paranormal. She barely batted an eyelash IMO.
· Though resolved, I feel that the conflict in Kabril's and Rayna's relationship was somewhat glossed over.
· Kabril's entitled, imperialistic behavior. I

Fast paced jumps from the met to three months later then it's over. Okay read if you just want something to fill a bit of time with.

I thought this book was okay. I didn't really like the hero or heroine too much. Actually both were a little irritating. Hope the rest of the series is better.
This was the 2nd book that I read where the shifters are birds.
I just find this too short to have a development between the H and the h.
Overall, it wasn't a bad read.
3.5 stars

I don't often read bird shifter book, but this was not too bad.

Kabril is King of the Eagles in a realm apart from Earth. They didn't really go into detail about this but the realm can only be accessed by some portals in the the Bermuda Triangle.

Kabril's people are having problems having babies so he comes to Earth to find his destined mate. I really liked his friend Sachrin. He convinces Kabril that he has to woo Rayna and get her to care for him. It gets pretty steamy.

I haven’t read too many bird shifter books. This is definitely one to add to your library! The shifters in this book don’t turn into tiny little birds, oh no, they are larger than life huge birds of prey. And Kabril, he is the King.

King Kabril must take a wife in order for the mating magik to begin, and for the people of his kingdom to once again have children. It is his duty. Sachin, his friend and right hand man, tells him that he must woo an earth woman to fulfill the prophecy. This doesn’t
The immortal bird shifter Kabril, King of the Royal Eagles has enough to worry about. Like the impending war with the Peregrine Falcons and declining birth rates. Now, their Oracle has told him that Kabril's mate is to be found on Earth and she will make him fall in love with her. The only problem is that Kabril hates the vile and wingless humans who need planes to fly. How could he ever fall in love with one so beneath him?

Enter Rayna Vogel; wildlife photographer and bird cooker extraordinaire.
2.5 stars. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. The author did one of those "Three months later" chapter headings after the hero & heroine meet. The shortcut has them jumping on eachother but the reader is cheated out of their flirting and initial conflicts.
I didn't feel very attached to any of the characters.

The sex was minimal. It was beyond young adult for certain but I wouldn't call it erotica.
The world setup wasn't too shabby. There's a world of avian shifters with magic and conflict bet

I recieved an arc of this book by the author for an honest review.

I have to say that i really like how Mandy writes.
This story is short, funny, sexy and keeps your interest.
We meet the bird men royal hawks and specific we meet their king that the profecy has it he is to be mated to a human.
Kabril is not overly happy about that fact and tries to avoid it but he finds himsel in earth and overly drawn to Rayna.
Can these two find happiness?
A really sweet and funny story that will keep you reading and

2 and 1/2 star!!

I loved the idea of this book. Unfortunately, it felt like it could have gone a bit smoother.

Not sure the characters, with their designations in the story, felt like they were developed enough.

It kills me that this could have gone a lot better, cause I know that I LOVED the theme and idea..

Oh well.

Thoroughly enjoyed learning about these bird shifters. Found that the conversation between King Kabril and his counselor, Sachin, to be very entertaining. And the ways that Kabril misuses human phrases is most amusing. Kabril enters the human realm in search of his prophesied mate. There he meets Rayna, a human woman that does not take lightly to someone commanding her or keeping secrets from her. When Kabril is arrogant, led by false pride, she stands up to him and puts him in his place. The ...more

King Kabril of Accipitridae(hawks) must face the prophecy that says fertility would be restored to his people if he takes a mate, but his mate is suppose to be in the Earth realm, those dirty, vile creatures and the last place he wants to look for a mate that he doesn't even want at all. Though their laws say he must do everything he can that is best for the kingdom. Now his advisor Sachin (39

Another Feather in Mandy’s Cap!!!

– Her Cap of Awesome Books, that is! I am loving this series and bird shifters! Never mind the fact that this is my first bird shifter book & series! This review is for the first 3 books in the series & opens with King of Prey, A View to a Kill (book 2) and Master of the Hunt (book 3). I thought that Mandy did a great job with King of Prey in setting up the rest of the series. Their race & world is beautifully explained and Mandy did a terrific job de

A refreshing difference in a shifter story for me. Roth definitely captured my interest first with the cover and then with the story itself. A realm inhabited by bird shifters that could be looking at the end of their race if their King didn't fulfill the prophecy handed down. Kabril wanted to do what was best for his people, but take a human as mate? It was up to Sachin, not only an advisor to Kabril but a long time friend, to get Kabril to adhere to what was set for him. The one thing he ...more

King of Prey was a delight!
Unlike many books that I've read, there were only 3 main characters and a small handful of 'extras'. This worked out well as the story was not that long and allowed the reader to really enjoy the interaction of the three.

The book opens in the realm of Accipitridae. With King of the Hawks or Buteo Regalis, Kabril in a heated discussion with his chief adviser and long-time friend and companion, Sachin, arguing. Sachin, his adviser for his people had discerned that Kabril

King Of Prey is a book which is sci fi /paranormal mixed with erotic romance. Kabril, King of Buteos Regalis, is seeking his mate who can help bring fertility back to his people. There is a prophecy stating that the mate would bring fertility back BUT the prophecy DID not mention she would be human and from another realm. Another problem Kabril has is that his kind believes humans are dirty and have to rely on artificial means

**What is good about it?**
Her grammar, spelling, and sentence structure were very well done. Kudos to Team Roth.

The brotherly word play, sparring, jabs etc between Kabril & Sachin were laugh out loud funny at times. I could picture them like my brother and I fighting about stupid stuff. Hilarious! Reyna being the typical good girl next door giving him such a hard time was expected but endearing… and the tim

King of Prey is a great start to the Bird Shifter series. I am so glad Mandy did an extended version, I just loved it. The character and their stories blend so seamlessly together I was quickly lost within the pages never wanting it to end.

Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis knows war draws near for his people, for some it has been too long that they don't remember the devastation but for others in his realm it is harder to forget.

Rayna Vogel is a photographer and she is very good at her job, s

This is an amazing start to this series. We are introduced to King Kabril Kingston who is a hawk shifter who is alpha to the core. He always gets his way, demands respect from everyone in his kingdom and they do exactly as he tells them too. His head advisor and best friend, Sachin is the one person who will tell him like it is without being afraid of him and knows exactly how to manipulate him to get him to do what is best for him. These two are hilarious when together and the trust and respect ...more
