This is a fitting ending to the Dead Girl trilogy, but I wish that this wonderful well-written series didn't have to end. In this final book, Amber's new Temp-Lifer assignment is in the body of her best friend, Alyce. A Temp-Lifer's responsibility is to sort of "body-sit" to give the hostess time to rest so she can come back and figure out the answer to her own problems. Kali ini Amber berada di tubuh Alyce. Seperti biasa, jika Amber berada di tubuh orang lain itu tandanya orang tersebut sedang dalam masalah dan Amber yang menjadi ‘penghuni sementara’ berusaha agar bisa membantu masalah tersebut. Mungkin tidak menyelesaikannya tuntas, tapi Amber merasa selalu bertanggungjawab untuk mengetahui masalah dimana tubuhnya berada dari awal hingga akhir.

Ada yang beda sih, karena Amber tidak berada dalam keadaan koma alias sadar dan dia berada di tubuh Alyce berarti harus ada yang berada dalam tubuhnya. Tebak siapa? grammy dong *sampe serem sendiri ngebayanginnya*.

Walaupun Amber dan Alyce berteman akrab ternyata ada banyak hal yang Amber belum tahu tentang Alyce. Ya, setiap orang kan punya rahasia yang sahabat pun belum tentu dikasih tahu kan ya. Dari sini Amber makin memahami bagaimana Alyce dan berusaha membantu atas masalahnya. Jika masalah menyangkut keluarga memang agak riskan sih ya. Kadang kita gak pengen aja orang lain diluar keluarga itu ikut campur walopun itu sahabat sendiri.

Ditambah lagi dengan kemunculan Gabe Deverau yang sebenernya musuh tapi berniat membantu Amber. Di buku sebelumnya, Gabe ini hampir bikin Amber tewas. Jadi ya wajar aja kalo niatan Gabe ingin membantu Amber membuat dia gak percaya. Walau dari awal Amber memasang label ‘berbahaya’ buat Gabe tapi ternyata ada yang beda yang ditemukan Amber dalam diri Gabe. Berbeda dari Eli, sang pacar yang lagi sibuk ngurusin turnya seorang idola yang lagi ngehits.

Ini buku terakhir dari seri Dead Girl. Masih menarik ala remaja, gak jauh juga dari kisah pertemanan dan juga percintaan. Lucu dan seperti yang dalam buku kedua saya tuliskan reviewnya, bahwa buku ini gak serem kayak baca noverl horor kok ya (less)

I love the series Dead Girl. Was my first experience with paranormal books , and after I read the first one ,I was hooked ! I read the 3 books in 2 days . It's a very easy and fun reading,and you can't help but to fall in love with the characters. In the final book in the Dead Girl trilogy, Amber is again in a new body.this time her grandma is in her body, which is really freaking her out. In the process of helping her new host body she runs again into Gabe, the Dark Lifer who has been stalking her since her first job as a temp lifer.

Amber is a temp lifter occupying the body of her best friend, Alyce. I've worn my friend's underwear before, but swapping bodies would be a bit personal! Amber must adhere to the nine divine rules for temp lifters including the first rule, follow through on your host's body obligations and plans. This means putting up with Alyce's whiny mother. Amber has always had a strained relationship with Mrs. Perfetti, and now has to live with her. She is codependant, often behaves like a child and has been known to snoop around in Alyce's room. Meanwhile, Amber's deceased granny is inhabiting her body. Granny is somewhat unconventional, which causes Amber some concern. The story seemed to be leading up to more events with her granny, who seems like an interesting character, but there wasn't much focus on her. The situations involving granny could have been a lot more fun.
Although she is only expected to take care of Alyce's life, while she is recooperating from her depression, Amber decides to make improvements. She encounters a new puzzle to work through as she investigates Alyce's current obsession involving mortuaries. Busy with her recent adventures, she neglected to realize Alyce's unhappiness and soon realizes she doesn't know her best friend as well as she thought.
She also decides Alyce needs a love life. She goes on several interesting dates. It can be horrible when friends try to set you up! This story line had great potential, had it been developed further.
Amber is once again haunted by Gabe, the dark lifter from the previous story. He is a body swapper who refuses to give up the practice. I was disappointed that Amber fell for Gabe's charming good looks and sad story of betrayal once again. I'd be likely to fall for someone like this, but I expected more from her character. What is it with these older guys ? Older guys can be wonderful, but Gabe died more than a century ago!
This story did not end on cliff hanger. It is quite possible this is the last story in this series. (less)

L'histoire commence assez bizarrement puisqu'Amber se réveille dans un cercueil et qu'elle n'a aucune idée de comment elle est arrivée là, ou devrais-je plutôt dire Alyce. Très vite, Amber prendra conscience qu'elle ne connaît pas aussi bien son amie qu'elle aurait pu le croire. Entre son obsession pour les cimetières et sa mère dépressive, Alyce n'a pas une vie facile, et c'est Amber qui doit se débrouiller avec ça. Pas facile comme mission encore une fois. On découvrira qu'Alyce a plusieurs secrets qu'elle n'a jamais révélé à personne, pas même à sa meilleure amie. Heureusement, Amber peut compter sur son autre meilleur ami, Dustin, pour lui donner un coup de main. En plus de sa mission, Amber devra encore une fois faire face à un Condamné des ténèbres, un vieil ennemi qui refait surface.
L'histoire est encore une fois la même, sans grande surprise. Dans ce roman, j'ai trouvé que l'auteur avait manqué d'inspiration. Amber doit toujours faire face aux mêmes problèmes, elle se tourne toujours vers les mêmes personnes, elles se plaint sans arrêt en disant que sa famille lui manque. Franchement, j'ai trouvé ça agaçant. L'histoire tourne en rond pendant au moins la moitié du roman.
S'il y a aussi une autre chose que je déplore, c'est bien l'absence de Eli. Amber et lui ne se parle que par téléphone et sa présence physique m'a manqué tout au long de l'histoire. Lorsqu'il est là, il y a quelque chose qui se passe au moins, mais là, je ne peux pas en dire autant. Amber passe son temps à s'ennuyer de lui.
Je dois aussi avouer qu'après avoir lu environ la moitié du livre, je me suis arrêtée. Il n'y avait rien qui faisait que je voulais savoir la suite, ce petit quelque chose qui vous tient accroché à un livre et qui fait que vous ne pouvez plus le lacher. J'ai tout de même continué ma lecture après une journée sans toucher à mon livre. C'est seulement dans les 100 dernières pages que je suis retombée dans l'histoire et que j'ai commencé à y voir clair. Tout ce qui s'était passé avant dans la vie d'Alyce n'avait en fait jamais eu de rapport avec la véritable histoire. J'ai donc lu les 100 dernières pages sans m'arrêter. Comme quoi il ne faut jamais se décourager.
Verdict: Un livre un peu long et qui, selon moi, n'est pas digne de la fin plus spectaculaire à laquelle nous aurions pu avoir droit. Une lecture facile pour des adolescents, mais pas pour de jeunes adultes de 18 ans comme moi.(less)

This third time around Amber is now Alyce, her best friend, while, surprisingly, her deceased grandmother inhabits Amber. Of course, as being BFFs one would think that the assignment would be a piece of cake, since BFFs don't hide anything from each other. However, Amber is in for a rude awakening, as her friend's life isn't as bad as she thought it was - it's even more complicated!

For one, Alyce's mother is not what Amber had believed her to be. Sure, she still scares the stuffing out of Amber just by looking at her. However, the only reason why she is the way she is, and the reason why Alyce spends most of her time with Amber, is because her mother has mental problems. Mood swings accompanied with changes in behavior and personalities, Alyce has always had to take care of her mother, not wanting her to go to an institution and not wanting anyone to know the problems she encounters right at home.

While discovering her best friend's home life, Amber also finds out that her best friend is looking for The Lost. This "Lost" might just be the answer as to why Amber found herself in her best friend's body in a coffin. It's a good thing Amber has Dustin to help her figure out the whereabouts of The Lost, since the GEM can't tell her much. Amber will do anything to help her friend, even if it means having to go on dates!

With the problems of her best friend's mother, The Lost, and threats brought upon her boyfriend by a Dark Lifer, one could say Amber's life is unique...but for Amber it's now normal.

It is just AMAZING how Linda Joy Singleton develops her characters and keeps the plot and storyline so original and mysterious, leaving the readers on their toes. Instead of just identifying the main characters, Singleton allows even the readers to inhabit the bodies of those who would be used as secondary characters in other novels.

This installment helps us wonder: How much do we really know about our best friends? And do we want to know all about them, or will the truth just be too much? DEAD GIRL IN LOVE is full of twists and turns, but in the end love is definitely in the air. This last installment wraps up this series nicely in both Amber's aspect of life and also Amber and her mother's.

Now we must sit and wonder whether Singleton will write another installment in the series, just because it would be as great as the first three. Or wonder what wonderful series will she cook up next!(less)

I loved this book! Dead Girl in Love, is the third and final book to a fun and engaging series. I was not a fan of the last book, so I was worried that Dead Girl in Love would disappoint me. Happily, I was not the least bit dissatisfied with Dead Girl in Love.

This time around all of the characters from the first book Dead Girl Walking are back! What I love most about this series are the quirky characters. It was so nice to see all of the characters again. I just love them so much!

This is a good ending to a really interesting series. It involves a girl who is constantly switching bodies to help people who are in need. However, an evil spirit is trying to take her away from her life, and she must figure out how to escape him and save her friends and family.
