Maya Jackson’s brother is dead. One day he was there, the next he died in a fire. She comes to Lake Tahoe to clear out his house, but the grief is too strong and she needs a few drinks to help her get through the ordeal. The bar is closed, but the Good Samaritan inside lets her in, pours her a drink, and lets her have her way with his mouth, tongue, fingers, and body...But before things escalate, she bursts into tears and runs off.

Six months later Maya is back in Lake Tahoe investiga More...

~WILD HEAT IS SIMPLY SMOKIN~
Maya Jackson has come to Lake Tahoe to clean out her brothers cottage following his suspicious death in a fire. In her words "she was going to find the bastard that killed him and she was going to make him pay." As an arson investigator it's well within Maya's realm of possibilities but she's a little off her game today. Eventually grief proves too much sending Maya to the nearest bar to forget and straight into the arms of the most explosive man she's More...

Who doesn't love a brave, hunky firefighter? This new series by Bella Andre is all about firefighters, but not the kind we are familiar with who fight structure fires, but the kind who fight wildfires. They're called wildland firefighters, or Hotshots, and they battle blazes like forest fires continuously off and on for about nine months out of the year, mainly out West. This series sounded promising to me, so I had high expectations, and for the most part, it delivered. Sure, there were som More...

Alas it didn't work for me. When you get the hero's POV and his suspicions about who the arsonist is, the heroine seems immediately less smart when she's suspecting the hero. If people keep referring to her as smart while you're thinking "Come on, clear the guy from suspicion and start searching for the real arsonist" the heroine starts to come off as stupid.

When she then proceeds to kiss said suspect (when she believes he just set her apartment on fire and left her a threa More...

An enjoyable read! This is the first book in the Hotshots series, and I'll definitely pick up the next one. Nice romantic suspense with a hunky, super-sexy, wildfire (hotshot). Oh my!

Set in Lake Tahoe, Nevada in 2009, the main characters, Maya Jackson and Logan Cain, met for the first time in a closed bar where Maya was in shock over a death of a close family member. One thing led to another and the two got up close and personal, then Maya ran off. Six months later, they meet ag More...

3 & 1/2 stars.

Having read and enjoyed a couple of Bella Andre books previously, I did have high expectations for the first in her Men of Fire series. I guess I should know by now that my expectations tend to ruin books for me a little. Not that this book was awful but I did really want to give it more than the 3 and a half stars that I have.

While the hero and heroine, Logan and Maya, were likeable, strong and sensible characters (my favourite kind) - I guess there were a More...

Wild Heat by Bella Andre is the first book in her new series concerning the sexy firefighters of wildfires called Hotshots. I found it an exciting and compelling mystery which kept me guessing until the very end. This is the story of Logan Cain, the leader of the Tahoe Pine Hotshot Crew and Maya Jackson a dedicated arson investigator.

Maya is traumatized when her firefighter brother i More...

My Review:
Before I start talking the specifics on this book, I need to share a funny coincidence with you. I just finished the Wilder trilogy by Jill Shalvis. That trilogy was about 3 brothers that own a high-adventure business in the Sierra Mtns. Well, when I started this first book in the HotShot trilogy by Bella Andre, I was shocked to find that they are set in the exact same place. Weird coincidence and super-fun esp. More...

Well this book has one hot fireman!!!

Soon events start putting Maya in danger and she has to find out who is after her and Logan. Together they try to work out who is setting fires and killing people. Passion also ignites between pair which makes explosive reading.

Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. It ran at a good pace but I didn't think there was enough sexual tension. They didn't wait for the tension. They just jumped on each other. lol. There were a few scenes that I really had to suspend the reality check for. But overall, it was an enjoyable read.

This one surprised me with how much I liked it. The contrast of the super sexy firefighter and a normal girl is a good one.

I liked that Logan was a reformed bad boy, one how seemed to go the whole other way, everyone respected him and did what they could to protect him. Maya was interesting to me. With her family past I can see why her wishy washy feelings were that way, it still drove me nuts, but I got why she was like that. I loved their first encounter and it really set the More...

I've read a number of Bella Andre titles and this was very different from those. I liked this one because it read more like a mystery novel instead of a romance novel. I was drawn in and couldn't put the book down because I wanted to find out who the arsonist was. Unlike the others I've read by BA where the hot steamy sex is the main theme, here the primary character was the wildfire while the love scene between Maya and Logan took a back seat (although still hot and steamy). If you're used to t More...

This is my first Bella Andre book and it hooked me into wanting to read more...not perfect, but good.

Maya Jackson is still recovering from the death of her brother six months earlier. He was a firefighter in Lake Tahoe killed in a fire and she just can't believe it was an accident. She is an arson investigator and in the last six months has devoted all of her time to catching arsonists and on the side trying to investigate her brother's death.
Logan Cain is a hotshot in Lake More...

The man on the cover gave me pause, but I ended up enjoying this book so much more than I expected!

Bella Andre creates an interesting, layered story, and her apparent in-depth knowledge of the workings of the fire department grounded this story wonderfully. It’s nice when an author does their research. She painted her location beautifully too.

I loved both lead characters, and their relationship, though rather fast, was believable. I certainly didn’t expect this book to be More...

This is the first book I've read by Bella Andre. I love romantic suspense books and the blurb sounded interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. For the most part, I'd consider it a slightly above average book. It wasn't absolutely awesome, but it was a pretty enjoyable read.

Maya Jackson grew up with a firefighter father - but not just an average firefighter, he was a hotshot, a firefighter who fought wildland fires. He would spend months at a time on More...

4 stars – Romantic Suspense

I was eagerly anticipating the first book, “Wild Heat”, in the new ‘Hot Shots: Men of Fire’ series about wildland firefighters because a) who doesn’t love a heroic hot-as-sin firefighter?, b) it’s classified as romantic suspense, and c) author Bella Andre writes some fairly steamy sex scenes. The fact that the series focuses on wildland firefighters who battle dangerous forest fires for 6-9 months out of the year is a unique take on the firefighter theme a More...

Very fun romance by Belle Andre. About a women whose brother dies in a fire. Ironically, he was a firefighter and wasn't on duty when he died. 6 months after his death she's called in to put another firefighter on suspension because he's suspected of starting forest fires. Turns out he's the man whose arms she crawled into six months earlier in grief. Can you say awkward? Now she must figure out if he did indeed start the fires and perhaps started the one which killed her brother. Very fun read. More...

If I read a random page from this book (which I did before I bought it), the writing wouldn't jump out at me in a negative way. However, when reading it for longer periods of time, the writing became a major problem with the book for me. For one thing, too much the space is devoted to the two leads thinking about their reaction to the other one. The constant reference to how gorgeous the two leads are, and how noble, stubborn, proud, brave, honest, self-sacrificing, etc, etc, the More...

Loved it! While not something that I'll read again (the only reason it's not getting a 5 rating) this was a great book. It had smut, it had mystery, it had twists....Everything that I look for in a good book!

My dad was a firefighter, so this story was easy to follow and understand just based on my history growing up in that type of environment. It was easy to relate to Maya and her determination to find out what really happened to her brother. Arson investigating is such an interesti More...

I LOVED this book! I loved both of the main characters, their chemistry, and the passion between them! I also loved the gorgeous Tahoe setting since I've been there, I know what it's like and it was described so well. This is the first Bella Andre book I've read and it certainly will not be the last! I love her writing style, the juice bedroom scenes, the character development, and I could go on forever! I've found a new author to add to my MUST READ list!

I loved it! Yes, the storyline was predictable but then that IS why we read this books, yes? There's a certain, familiar, comfortable candence.

This book had it all: a smoking hot, alpha male (pun intended); semo-fragile yet tough heroine; no CHEATING and a smidgen of drama.

Add in the whole firefighter element, and it's one steamy combination. (pun intended)

I'm a sucker for this type of fast-paced, blazing combination.

Ok. I'd better stop now.

I can't get into a book when the heroine is just plain annoying. I can certainly understand her issues, which I won't spoil for anyone else, but she's hard to like and I can't get past her early behavior enough to enjoy or care about anything that happens to her. Big fan of Bella Andre, but not of this book. Her "Game" and Sullivan series are much better reads, with truly enjoyable characters to boot. Skip this one and delve into those.

Normally I love Bella Andre's books but this one didn't do it for me. The female had too many TSTL moments. And if she waffled back and forth between "oh he is the arsonist" and "I need his body" one more time I was going to scream.

The blowing up of the truck and running inside to have sex was just one step too far for me. Maybe I will like the next one in the series better.

I really wanted to like this book, but it was it's own worst enemy. I pretty much had the arsonist pegged within a few chapters, it wasn't any big surprise when that person was finally reviewed. I had high hopes for this book, however it was too predictable.

I'm not sure if I'll read the next one, but I probably will-hoping it will be better.

This is the first book I have read by Bella Andre, and my first 'Fireman' book..hehe
I really liked the main characters, however, I found they were 'whiny' after awhile. The story was good, the writing good, and the plot good... all around a 'good' book...but nothing spectacular. If you want a light read with a couple of good steamy sex scenes, then this book is for you.

Too much happened in 24 hours for me. It was just unrealistic. A motel room getting blown up, Investigating a fire, sex, a fire, sampling fire from the fire, another fire, sex, going to a restaurant but NOT eating, a car blowing up, more sex, a firefighter dying from one of the fires, finding out they love each other, another fire, and a serial arsonist trying to kill the heroine the whole time. Keep in mind the woman never had anything to eat, the entire book except for the end. How could she More...

I had a hard time setting aside disbelief over a lot of the plot and the "we're about to die but let's have sex" scenes, but overall I enjoyed it. The characters were well developed considering the time-frame of the plot, their chemistry was there in spades and I liked their professions.
