The central question Aquinas asks in this work is: Can humans teach one another? His conclusion is that the teacher "inspires the student to understand what he is teaching." Aquinas points out that people have argued for two opposing positions: 1) knowledge comes into existence by an outside power 2) knowledge already exists in the person and an outside power only brings it to light. This book is an easy way to get closer to Thomism philosophy, even though this edition contains an interpretation of the words of St Agustin that makes the compression hard, mainly because the quotes come in latin and do not provide a translation.
