This book tried my patience right from the very beginning. I understand that this book is loosely tied-in with Dodd's previous Dark Chosen series, but the author seemed to have just assumed that anyone reading Storm Of Visions would have been completely versed in the previous series. This being my first attempt at reading one of Dodd's books, I was completely frustrated and confused through the first 75-100 pages. There is nothing more annoying than starting a book, and feeling like you're being...more

Knowing that she is suppose to be some great psychic and that she is expected to become part of the ‘Chosen Ones’ didn’t mean that Jacqueline Vargha had to like it. She had had enough of (her mother) Zusanes control, so she ran away from it until Zusane sent her top body guard (Caleb D’Angelo) to bring her back. Loving Jacqueline had not been easy for Caleb. First his loyalty to Zusane was all that stopped him. Now going back to her, loving her the way he wanted to would have to be on mutual...more

I've read Christina Dodd's Darkness Chosen series, and loved the family dynamics of the main characters in those books. This new series is set in the same type of world, set a about 15 years later and deals with different groups of people, The Chosen, and their enemies The Others. What both groups have in common is that most of the members were abandoned as infants, and each has a unique psychic gift. The Chosen are found by other Chosen and raised to help bring good in the world and to fight...more

I had high expectations for this book but they haven't been fulfilled entirely. At first I had a hard time following the story and I couldn't understand why's Jacqueline running from Caleb and then sleeps with him when she actually hates him. We do get an explanation later but it doesn't feel real and believable. There are lots of other characters whose motivations and roles in this book aren't clear to me. I just couldn't feel the chemistry between two leading characters or their connection wit...more

This was the lamest, corniest, most obnoxious book I've EVER READ. I finished it out of pure spite, hoping to find every last horrible detail (for inclusion in my review on my blog. Which, consequently, I may not even write, for the sake of being courteous). With the glowing endorsements from J.R. Ward and Lisa Klepays on the cover, my faith in the publishing industry has just taken a turn for the worse (not that it has been great, lately).

If I had to describe this book in one word, ...more

Good read although it starts a little slowly; there was a lot of background to cover! There were also a number of characters to introduce [one of whom is Aleksander Wilder - the baby in the Darkness Chosen series:] - I would assume each of the 'Chosen Ones' will eventually get their own books.

Jacqueline and Caleb, the heroine and hero, have a long history. Their chemistry is explosive but she blames him for always doing what her mother tells him to do [he's her head of security and...more

when the world was young, twins were born, one brought dark to the world: the other, darkness & danger. They gathered others around them, men & women destined to use therie powerful gifts for good or evil. Today their decendents walk the earth as the chosen, and the ultimate battle is about to begin. This is the synopsis that got me to purchase the book ( after the cover of course )and of course Dodd writes beautifully, she always makes me want to turn the page to see what happens next.

It’s time for the new Chosen Ones to take their rightful place within the Gypsy Travel Agency but now the battle they thought they wouldn’t have to face is at their doorstep. Jacqueline has been running from her gift for the past two years but now Caleb D’Angelo is determined to be back in her life and help her take her place as one of the Chosen Ones and be at her side during the fight.

I thought the prologue to this book was awesome! That when the world was young, twins were born b...more

I bought this book online without knowing what it was about (I was looking for a historical romance) and a brief glimpse of the synopsis on the back had me wondering if I had gotten a vampire or werewolf story, which I never buy. So I was happy when it turned out to be an ESP book, even though I do not like them either, but I'm more willing to read something paranormal than something about vampires. I enjoyed it to a point but there was a lot of confusion and little opportunity to really get t...more

New series by Christina Dodd. Great first book in the series. This story has to do with Jacqueline one of the special Chosen Ones. She denies her paranormal psychic visions and hates that she has to actually finally acknowledge that yes she does have the ability. Her bodyguard Caleb who also used to be Zusane's bodyguard (Jacqueline's mother) has a high romantic interest in Jacqueline. It seems sometimes rocky but the relationship is all there whether she wants it or not. It is a thriller ...more

I'm used to reading characters from Christina Dodd that make you smile because you fall in love with them from page one. The hero of this book was no exception. He is strong and capable, and willing to sacrifice himself for the heroine and her cause--but the heroine of this book almost didn't deserve him. I was pretty disappointed in her. She was childish and selfish and whiny. She redeems herself at the end but not soon enough to keep me from having a pretty biased opinion of her.

This is a 3.5. It started as a 3-it had an incredibly disturbing sex scene in the beginning. I don't care for the sex that the woman is forced, but then she really wanted it in the end. It just perpetuates our societys' belief that no really means yes. However, in the end the book was a 4-so the 3.5. I will continue to read this series because I like the premise. I hope that this book was laying the foundation and the others in the series will have more action. It is about an agency of peo...more

This came into my hands and I read it because of the cover blurb from Jayne Ann Krentz. Well, it is a vivid, visual fantasy, but the only character development in the book is protagonist Jacqueline's attempts to reject the man she loves, the mother who loves her, and the Gift that is necessary to save the lives of herself and the rest of the Chosen Ones. Dodd started with a promising meet-and-click between Aaron the classy thief and Charisma the crystal lady, but didn't do any more with it.

Raw, dirty, angry, overwhelming. A well written novel. Not one of the best I've read however I found it entertaining and I enjoyed it. The way the characters are written cause you to pick favourites fast and choose who you hate the most just as quickly. Course I love Caleb. Wish his character was explored a bit more however. Loved Isabelle and hated Samuel, and I'm familiar with what Alexandr represents from the other novels by Dodd. Most of all Jacqueline touched me with her feeling of constant...more

I'm only up to Chapter 6 & this book already sucks.
The heroine is being followed, she runs to her apt. & decides to search her rooms before settling in ... BUT, WAIT! She must first start stripping.
Nothing is out of order, except her shower is running.
Her first thought, I left it on this morning.
Surprise, surprise - the intruder is taking a shower.
She proceeds to stab him with some scissors & then does him.

A big WHATEVS to this book.

Synopsis:
The Chosen are men and women destined to use their powers for either good or evil. Jacqueline Vargha has always rejected her gift but now that Caleb D'Angelo has forced his way into her life, she can no longer deny her destiny.

I picked this up after reading the Darkness Chosen series which I have apparently completely forgotten about in it's entirety. I was SO confused. Where I usually get annoyed with too much background info (especially if there is preceeding books) this had NONE. Everything was just given as a given and at the end I'm still not sure what the different roles are in good vs. bad.

The mystery of who blew up the building was good except that the way they did it seemed a little too easy. If ...more

There are two sides-The Chosen(good guys) and The Others(bad guys) and a war constantly rages between them. The Chosen are joined by 7 new members each time but just before this years initiation, their headquarters is bombed and almost everyone is killed, leaving the last few vulnerable.

The book was so slow! We had lots of time spent on the disturbing, violent relationship between Caleb and Jacqueline, and nothing about it was sexy or romantic. It was just foul domestic violence and sc...more

Storm of Visions by Christina Dodd brings the reader into the world of the Chosen, specially selected people with gifts such as healing, mind control, earth powers, and most importantly, seers.

Jacqueline is a powerful seer. At the beginning of the novel, she is estranged from her mother, the charismatic Zusanne. She is brought back to join the Chosen and to take her place among them. When tragedy strikes, Jacqueline is forced on the run with the other Chosen and their guards.

It would be a 3.5, if I could.

I read a Christina Dodd book a few months back, and found it...dull. I made it about half way through, then skimmed the rest. Now, that could have been because it was something like number four in her changling series and I hadn't read the rest, or I could have been just having an off day. So, I decided to give the new series a shot. I was glad I did...but...

Usually I try and do a paragraph about the hero. Then the heroine. Then the sto...more

"Storm of Visions" by Christina Dodd was a good read to start the series of the Chosen Ones. It started out a bit slow, as some books do when they start a series, and laid out the story of the Chosen Ones and the Others. Basically these two groups are representations of "good" and "evil," and the Chosen Ones want to save the world while the Others want to destroy it and all of the Chosen with it.

The storyline focused on the main characters, bodyguard...more

This book has a really cool premise and takes things in a different direction from the other paranormal series right now. I really did like that about the book. However, I do feel the romance suffered because of the time that had to be spent on building the world and the lore for this new series. I really wish that Ms. Dodd had been able to preserve her excellent ability to write a great, sensual romance and still accomplish setting up this series. Normally her love scenes are fairly blisterin...more

I made an attempt to read this book and put it down for awhile. I finally completed reading approx a month later after I had read other books in between. I found it difficult to read without clarifying up front the talents of so many different characters. I found the book to be too mysterious, jumped around all over the place and did not make too much sense. When I started reading the second, I gathered more of an interest. I enjoyed how the book ended and am curious enough to read the seco...more

I didn't see the point of anything in this story. The characters either didn't want the power they had or they didn't want to be part of "The Chosen", so I really didn't feel that interested in reading much more than half the book. I got tired of the lead character whining about how she didn't want her powers, and then all of a sudden she was gung-ho about them. I skimmed the last third of the book, but still didn't really see a solid storyline. This book just wasn't for me.

Okay, this isn't exactly a review. I didn't get past the first 20 or so pages. Why? Within those pages, a woman is stalked at her workplace by a mystery man. The man follows her home and breaks into her apartment, laying in wait in her bathroom. He attacks, she fights back, and the scene devolves from there...but hey, it's okay! They know each other! They used to be lovers! Sure, she said no, but she really meant yes!

I feel nauseated.

Wow, this was not what I was expecting - it was a really great take on a old myth of the devil trying to take what he really can't have and the flawed good guys fighting to win. They of course, need their mates to magnify their powers in the battle and in finding their mate, they help each other find and overcome/adapt to their challenges... a bit cheesy, but who cares - even though bad guys start strong, good guy kicks butt!

This is my first Christina Dodd book and I was a little worried that it was going to turn into a sex book because of the the very graphic sex scene at the beginning of the story. Don't get me wrong, I love sex in my books, but when it's too much it can be desensitizing and boring. Gladly, it did not turn out that way. There were 3 sex scenes and they were all fun to read and made sense to the story. I liked this book a lot and I can't wait to read the next in the series.

Readers become writers, and Christina Dodd has always been a reader. As she was growing up, she read everything, but discovered, because she likes humor, that she liked romance best. In romance, the relationship between one man and one woman holds center stage, and that’s always good for a laugh.

A woman wants things like world peace, a clean house, and a deep and meaningful relationshi...more
