Last night I took every one out to let them spend twenty dollars each as part of their christmas presents. This book was one of the books that my daughter picked out. She has been having all kinds of fun sitting quietly and writing in it!
Last night before going to bed I read what she had written and was laughing so hard at some of the things she wrote! This book is adorable and it also allows us to see what our children think about things we may have never thought to ask. I plan on getting my so

I have to admit we didn't get very far in this book, some of it was very funny for kids. The turnoff was the kind of disrespectful language that kids find to be funny... like calling people ugly or talking about farts... not something I want my kids to read, since I don't want them talking like that.

I have thought of revising my review since kids like it so much and it encourages them to read. I know my 7 year old son loves it and I finally let him check it out from the library... he and my 5 1/
Fill it in yourself. I got some ARCs at a conference and kids snatched them up. Great for kids, not so great for libraries.

Recommends it for: yes! to my kids
Ah! Remember those middle school days? For me it was loopy earrings, banana clips, the girls with the perfect perms and spiked bangs. Not to mention, the social clicks, health class, and the giggles when a boy talked to you. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is laugh out loud funny. Jeff Kinney reminds me of those days in middle school and by the lives of my own 11, and two 13year olds not much has changed. Kinney has brought these awkward years much needed comic relief through cartoons and Gregg Heffley, a ...more
Used this book for a class I taught on the first book, we used this activity book while reading the first book together. It was really useful, and really fun. I really liked that the activities creative and relevant to what kids like to talk about. Plus this book saved me a lot of time, it's basically a ready made class activity book, and it's great for getting kids to share their personal experiences, I think I learned a little too much about the kids in my class :)
My oldest son got this one for his birthday this past summer and has been filling the pages with his own cute, nine-year-old stories. The book is set up with mini questionnaires that you can respond to and then there are blank pages for your own words. It is fun to read what my son has written. It's a super cute idea and the inspiration comes from the book series.

This book is a wonderful mentor text for 3rd graders! It gives short stories (in comic strip form) with characters that are recognizable over time. Then it gives a series of pictures with empty bubbles for kids to write in their own funny little stories. Then it gives empty boxes for kids to be completely creative. It asks kids to draw a floor plan of their room, then a floor plan for their dream house. It shows how to draw stick figures with expression and has them answer questions about themse ...more

can i read
I don't think this was interesting. But the part that I got to write my own story was quite fun.
I didn't really understand why so many people liked (loved) this.
In my opinion, I didn't enjoy it as much.
I think that this book might be more for the smaller kids...

this is a good book & an good movie
Well now, this book turned out to be a terrific surprise! One might look at this Do-It-Yourself edition of Jeff Kinney's wildly popular series and label it a knockoff merchandise item, but that would be far from accurate. While it's true that the second half of the book is made up of blank pages to allow the owner to use it as his or her own personal journal (not diary, as Greg would remind you!), the first half of the book is comprised of the same kind of brilliant comedic writing that makes t ...more
this book is funny. its about a kid who is a huge folower anything his friend does he has to do. so one day greg went to his friends and they are eating and his friend throws his food at his dad and misses so then greg does it. he got kicked out of the house that day. one day he thought following is not so cool so then he made his own group of geeks who have to follow him. he gets suspended and he learns from this but still its not smart to follow people its a waste of life as his dad said and h ...more

The first time I enjoyed reading a book was Dairy of The Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, This was the only fiction book that I really enjoyed reading. I found this book very interesting due to the fact it connects to my everyday life.

This book earns 5 stars from me because this book has a story about my behind is that flashback my childhood. I remember how it was much more easier for me to picture the story in my mind, due to the help from the stick figure drawings on the side. I think this book is am
I checked this out of the library because some previous patron had answered all of the questions. It isn't really a book that you would read. It has lots of places for you to fill in your favorite school days and teachers and what your siblings are doing. It would probably be a really boring book to check out if it wasn't vandalized. The kid that wrote in it was probably about 9 and it made it so great. His older sister also filled out a lot of the diary section and I learned that their Dad was ...more

Let’s face it: Greg Heffley will never change his wimpy ways. Somebody just needs to explain that to Greg’s father. You see, Frank Heffley actually thinks he can get his son to toughen up, and he enlists Greg in organized sports and other “manly” endeavors. Of course, Greg is able to easily sidestep his father’s efforts to change him. But when Greg’s dad threatens to send him to military academy, Greg realizes he has to shape up...or get shipped out.

Greg and his family and friends, who make the

That's one wimpy kid. I couldn't help it but smile every time I thought of an equivelant name for the book in Arabic; ie يوميات طفل سامج. I think it has the same ring to it.
